Since I had no idea who Dan Beard was, I found this a fun story to read. I did wish that there had been more about his as an adult. There was a chapter about him meeting and getting ready to marry his wife, and then after that we have two or three sentences about his family in the rest of the book. This book does use several euphemisms. It also uses “Mom” and “Dad” in the mid 1800s which felt very odd and out of place for the story.
