About the author

Konami Kanata (jp. こなみかなた), is a Japanese cartoonist best known for her cat characters Chi's Sweet Home. Her works revolves around the daily life of house cats.

She went to Futaba-Kōtō Academy in Suwa, Nagano Perfecture. Her first published manga as a profesional manga-ka was the short story Puchi Neko Jamu Jamu in Nakayoshi Manga Magazine in 1982. The magazine is a part of Kodansha Publishing, in which she published her works ever since her first debut.

I'm a little nervous about all of Chi's outdoor adventures. She meets up with a not-so-nice kitty in this one. Also, hilarious chapter with Chi and the vacuum cleaner.

It's getting hard to say anything different about each volume as each one is as pleasing as the last. There is no plot, nothing really happens other than a series of events but it is all so sweet, realistic, cute and amusing. I've gotten used to Chi's character now and don't actually laugh out loud anymore but I'm still smiling and chuckling to myself at her realistic feline reactions. This volume mostly takes place outside as Chi explores the neighbourhood meeting up with the neighbourhood pets and Chi is introduced to another kitten who isn't as friendly as she is. When in the house Chi is becoming quite active now and causing quite a bit of trouble. Chi is not just lovable anymore either; she has an angry side which frequently shows its face this volume but she's just as cute when she's angry! Four more volumes to go in the series but taking a little break now so I can come back to them refreshed. Highly recommend this series though.

This is the first volume where I really noticed the colour coding of the sound effects. Perfect! I loved all of the new creatures introduced in this one. Hilarious!

Whodathunkkit that there could be an even grumpier kitty than Chi?





This ornery kitty brings out the naïve and playful side of Chi. Watching the contrasting personalities bounce off of each other was a rompin' good time.

Chi's Sweet Home, Volume 6 made me start feeling bad for the patient Yamadas. Chi is a little hellion! She's lucky she's so dang cute.

As always, another hilarious installment to this wonderful series. The kitty-proofing and vacuum scenes made me laugh so hard. I fall deeper in love with bratty Chi with each additional volume. If you're ever going through a tough time, pick this series up because it is nearly impossible to feel down while watching Chi spaz out.

It's hard to think of new things to say about a book series. So I'll go with the stand by - adorable. Though perhaps not as adorable as some earlier books (or maybe I'm overdosing on adorability). Chi gets into a lot of mischief (including destruction) in this volume as well as meeting up with new and old friends. I thought the funniest one in this particular volume involved the parakeet. Mostly, just Chi being a kitten and getting into all sorts of mischief and fun.

Leí el primero y el segundo, ahora gracias a Planeta Comic (Argentina) puede leer el 6to. ¡Gracias por la confianza!

🐈Lo que me gusta de este tipo de historias es que si bien está bueno seguir el orden cronológico, uno puede leer salteado y entretenerse igual, comprender la historia y disfrutar de Chi y quiénes lo rodean.
Por eso me hacía acordar a historietas que leía de chica, cómo Garfield! Era mí favorito.
En su momento yo no me fijaba si el tomo de Garfield era el que seguía o era el 11 sin haber leído los tres anteriores. Y acá, si bien se van publicando de a poco y ahora los chicxs les gusta seguir el orden de lectura, pueden tranquilamente agarrar uno al azar y leerlo.

🐈Pero entre ese gato tan gracioso de mí infancia y Chi, hay grandes diferencias que los hacen únicos.

En Chi podemos encontrarnos un gatito envuelto en situaciones cotidianas, rodeado de su familia y de las travesuras que hacen. Podemos ver a nuestro animal de compañía reflejado en Chi y eso es precioso. Me gusta también que no se centre tanto en lo que 'piensa' Chi, sino en sus acciones.

🐈El dulce hogar de Chi es una lectura perfecta para los niñxs. En el colegio en el que trabajo lo compré durante la feria del libro y los chicxs lo están adorando. Además es una muy buena manera de presentar el 'manga' y mostrar las diferencias que tiene con los comics o novelas gráficas occidentales.
A partir de este manga, por ejemplo, un alumno de 5to grado se enganchó con el formato del manga y luego me compartió los que se compró. Ahí es cuando uno siente que ya cumplió su gran misión.

Sin lugar a duda estaré esperando leer más aventuras de Chi! 😍

In this volume, Chi is becoming more and more comfortable in her new environment so she explores! But because she is a curious kitty, the Yamadas have to make their home safe for Chi as there are many dangers to curious kitties such as a hot iron and plants that can be toxic. Cat owners will be able to relate to Chi getting into into everything and anything such as tearing up plants, and knocking things over. Cat owners will also relate and bust a gut at the scene where Chi gets a kick out of the plastic bags and packaging of the Camera as many cats are entertained by things that make interesting sounds when moved. And finally, cat owners will relate to Chi getting into some tasty food. I can’t tell you how many times I caught my kitty licking my husbands food when he didn’t eat it right away. Ha ha ha!

Chi also starts exploring her outside world even more and meets a new friend in the process and she spies on Blackie and follows him to a secret cat meeting You’ll never guess what they actually do at this “meeting.” I promise it won’t be what you think it is. And it’s hilarious!

I absolutely love this series because not only is Chi adorable but it’s so easy to relate to if you own a cat. The behavior and the things Chi does or gets into are just like my own cat which makes this character even more relatable and adorable.

In this volume, Chi is mischievous as ever and having a lot of fun too. Both Mamma and Daddy want Chi safe, but realize she's wanting okay and explore with things that she probably shouldn't. So they start putting things in places that Chi can't reach. Little do they know Chi's determination is greater than they realize.

Chi starts exploring outside her new home and starts to get more comfortable with the dog next door. Although the bird dis kind of freak her out when it started to mimic her meows.

The volume ends on a cliff hanger! Chi decides to follow Blackie to the park at night and ends up getting out of her new collar. What will happen to Chi?!

Chi hat ein ziemlich aufregendes Leben. In seiner kleinen FAmlie passieren so viele Dinge und es gibt einfach so viel interessante Dinge zu entdecken. Auch lernt der kleine weitere Katzen kennen und auch HUnde, von denen er nicht mehr ganz so viel Angst hat, dennoch ist er ihnen skeptisch gegenüber.

Sie lernt von den Katzen, wobei vermutlich nicht alles von Vorteil ist. Auch gefahren birgen draußen vor denen er sich in Acht nehmen muss. DAs Leben ist eben auch für eine Katze nicht immer eitler Sonenschein.

Short and sweet, but a little repetitive in the same kinds of stories. I did like seeing Blackie again and the one where Chi gets confused by Lucky the budgie saying her words back to her.

I also liked that for once Yohei was a little put out by her because I didn’t think a little boy and little kitten would ALWAYS get along. I don’t understand why the parents wouldn’t have thought to move the cake or stay with it when they know Chi gets into everything… little common sense parts like that bug me. 😅

I'm already in love with this series but my heart just grew about two sizes bigger after reading this in original Japanese language because Chi's just so cute when she says things 🥺 Because she's a kitten who can't speak properly yet 🥺 She says things like なにちてう" (sort of like "whatchudoin") instead of "なにしてる" (what are you doing) and it's just super cute 🥺 Now I have to re-read the whole series in Japanese because that's just cuteness overload 🥺 I love this fluff series 🥺

Also, while I am enjoying this series, I am once again reminded of the bane of my existence: onomatopoeia.

Very cute. About a naughty and naive cat. The cat seems to speak Japanese/English but owners interpret it as meows. Other animals seem to understand but dogs. Interesting and cute. Stories are a few pages long as chapters.
