The papers comprising this volume were originally submitted for discussion at a symposium convoked by the National Education Association's Project on School Dropouts. The Project, which is sponsored by the Ford Foundation and which provides clearinghouse and consultation services, is concerned with encouraging the development of school and school-related techniques and programs which promise to ameliorate the dropout problem.
