Short introduction to how Brian, a human student, and Jack, a werewolf mechanic, meet again during Brian's Christmas break in his home town. Much has changed, and Brian is suddenly (and inexplicably) physically attracted to Jack. Not even the fact that Jack reveals himself to be a werewolf (without any reason or need to do that) can stop Brian from becoming Jack's lover. He isn't surprised either, which I found a bit hard to believe since he didn't know about the existence of Weres before this.

The story was okay, there was just no emotional involvement at all, and the sex lacked passion, or maybe I just missed it? If you're looking for a quick read about a werewolf and a human lover who have sex in the woods, you may like this short story.

I think something about this book or the readers must have changed. I read this a very long time ago and am in the process of transferring my reviews over. The current reviews say it is a short, free book that is not very good and centered on a M/M erotic exploration.

The book I read had the same name and author but was read through KU. It was a full novel about a biology professor recently turned into a werewolf and bookworm student; sort of a paranormal forbidden love story and it was generally rating 4.5 stars on Amazon. So, please bear in mind that my review will be for this older version.

I read this through KU. This book's flaws are numerous - missing words; misspelled words; minor continuity error with John's age; switching between current text and flashbacks/ dreams with no warning; calling one of the main characters Barrett, then randomly calling her Evelyn for a long while before explaining that Barrett was maiden name; mixing POVs (ch 8, #865, sent. 2); indicating a POV and then having that character refer to himself in the third person; etc. So why 4 stars? Chalk that up to simple curiosity on my part plus a large amount of creativity on the author's part...the story hooked me. It's been a while since I've come across a more unique world-building concept for how werewolves came to exist. The story was just creative enough that I wanted to stick with it despite it's glaring flaws. And its uniqueness made it something more than 3 stars for me. 4 stars.

This short story theoretically involved a werewolf outing himself to a man who had been attracted to him for quite some time, the first in a series of three stories. In practice, the "werewolf" / paranormal aspects to this first installment are almost non-existent. The bulk of the story focuses on the hot scene of two men finally exploring their mutual lust. While the resulting heat was rewarding in its own right, the tiny veneer of "wolfiness" (and especially the extraordinarily thin Were revelation scene) left much to be desired for those interested in paranormal plots along with their sizzle.

Free short.
Not quite sure why Jack changed?
Why invite him up and then change into a wolf, normally it's all about keeping it a secret or at least breaking it gently.
I did think it was interesting that the much smaller human topped the humongous were.
It's maybe..a HFN ending, it's actually more of a hook-up with a paranormal thrown in.

Not really recommended. It's free, and short, so you don't waste much time or money on it, but there's really nothing to it but a mediocre sex scene and a random, not terribly relevant-seeming, thing about werewolves. There's no emotional intensity, no reason to care about the characters, etc.

Running back home during Christmas break after a breakup Brian learns new things about an old friend. The setup was fine, the reveal of Jack's were status seemed rushed and extraneous to the story. Ending up feeling disconnected in bits.

This is a very short read. Some people will think it is predictable, but it not. The one that you will think should be alpha kinda is but not really. The sex scene in this book was really hot!!!!I can't wait to read more books by this author.

nice little story, but I couldn't help feel the werewolf angle was completely redundant

"Learning to Howl" is a quick read if you're looking to pass the time. I would like to see the story have a bit more substance and more background on Jack would be great.

It's a good thing this book was free. It needs a thorough editing. I would like to see this one gone over by the author as it has potential.
