Did you really think that having millions would alter the way she operates? She desperately tried to keep her hands clean, but a family tragedy provoked her to return to her old, wicked ways. Tamara used her financial means to launch an investigation to find out who was responsible for the murder, as she dealt with issues at home with her children. Being determined to never have to struggle again, she sought out the best Psychiatrists to help her short-temper and the most-savvy, business-minded people to show her the ropes. Money can do a lot of things, but keeping your skeletons buried is not one of them. Karma takes no prisoners and it does not discriminate. THE TWISTED THOUGHTS OF TAMARA BROWN

Dy2functional (The Constant Deception) is the sequel to Dysfunctional (Root of Betrayal) and continues the twisted saga of Tamara Brown. Now a few years down the road, Tamara is older and much more powerful with the inheritance she has gained. The problem is that she is just as dangerous as her fortune will allow her to be. To her credit, she made attempts to clean up her act considering all the damage she had previously caused throughout the years, but now a family tragedy provokes her to return to her evil ways. When she is forced to return back home for the funeral of a cousin, gunfire rings out as they are leaving the church, which causes her old instincts to automatically kick in. Tamara uses her financial means to launch an investigation to find out who needs to suffer the consequences; consequences only someone close to them would have knowledge of. In the meantime, Tamara’s twins deal with their own set of emotional issues, suffering from her absence in the home as she throws herself into the management of multiple businesses and her plots for revenge. The cost she is confronted with as payment for her choices is much more than she would have ever imagined.

Dy2functional (The Constant Deception) by Tamika Hicks was a twistedly entertaining read. Walking with Tamara as she expresses her thoughts on the plots and plans to avenge the wrongdoing against her is both entertaining and disheartening. She portrays how betrayal, especially from youth can cause you to form defense mechanisms that prevent your emotions from maturing correctly. Her mindset has been warped from a young child and her thought processes as an adult are evidence of this. Also evident as I read, was how the dysfunction can trickle down from one generation to the next. Now that Tamara’s children are older, you can plainly see how their upbringing has negatively affected them. This made me think about the many cases of familial brokenness in our society today. Ultimately, Ms. Hicks did a great job in illustrating all of the wrong ways to operate your family. I enjoyed this read as a follow-up to the first installment. If you want unending drama, this is the book for you.

I really enjoyed this book. Tamara continued where she left off at, and boy is this woman DYSFUNCTIONAL. To add insult, to injury her children are just as mental as her mother. I didn't want to include any spoilers but I enjoy the way Tameka Hicks crafts her stories. I'm waiting on her last and final series of this book.
