Donna Milward lives in Edmonton, Alberta in a tiny house with a huge yard. She’s been writing all her life, but decided to put writing on hold to get ‘a real job’ as a meatcutter and build a future with her beloved troll, Dan and her cat Freya. Twelve years later, an invitation to a Romance Writer’s Conference in Washington D.C. led not only to new friends and new knowledge, but to the inspiration to write again. Thoeba was completed the following year. Donna likes to mix her fascination with reincarnation and all things paranormal with her love of mythology in her work, and has even written her own myth ‘The Sacred Truth” (on earthtothoeba.blogspot.com) as the lore behind Thoeba and future novels to come. Donna enjoys fishing, gardening and canning. Despite these hobbies, she much prefers city life.
Thoeba was such a refreshing new outlook on the battle of Dark and Light. Humans play a critical part in this supernatural battle and I love how for once it's up to them to save themselves and everything Light. I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down.
Darkness attacks Eden where the light (angels) live and Thani, Thoeba's eternal love is killed trying to save the Energy. The Energy is the creator of all but the darkness has a hunger that only knows to devour and won't stop until there is nothing left. Thoeba is gravelly hurt and flees where she ends up on Earth without her wings and most of her powers. She is forced to rely on humans for help.
Thoeba hates earth and most everything about it. Once she meets the family who will come to be her greatest allies she must decide if she can change her thoughts or doom everyone to darkness. Failing really isn't an option because if darkness wins nothing will survive.
Donna's debut novel is a fantastic adventure. Thoeba, a creature of light or angel as the rest of us know them, is tasked with saving the Energy when the darkness comes. The Energy created the world and the creatures, light and dark. Now the darkness is growing stronger and trying to destroy the Energy and its worlds. When Thoeba's mate dies in her world, she has no choice but to take it to Earth in hopes of saving it. Most of her abilities are gone as well as her wings. She must count on new allies, all of them human, to help her when the darkness follows her and the Energy to Earth. Love, faith (not pushy kind of faith, but discussing personal faith in things like people, spirituality and a sense of what should be) and duty, Thoeba learns a lot about herself and those she meets as they try to save the world. Great read and the next one is due out next year, I think.
Fasten your seatbelts please, it’s going to be a bumpy ride! This book hit the ground running, or the water, I should say. Thoeba is an Angel, A Warrior that has fled her home to protect “the energy”, as the Demons (darkness) destroyed it and most of her kind. Peter, a human, is out on the lake for a nice quiet day of fishing until something (or someone) falls from the sky and crash lands in the water. All this takes place in the first chapter!
I LOVED this refreshingly, unique new twist on Angels and God, it is unlike anything else.
Thoeba flee’s the heaven’s to save The Energy only to wind up on Earth without her wings; she has always loathed humans believing that the way they live and squander what God has given them makes them week and unnecessary, to a fault. Darkness has followed her to this realm and will not stop until it has destroyed everything in it’s path; humans, Thoeba and The Energy included. Thoeba must trust her newly found foe’s, the humans she so dislikes quickly become her allies and most trusted adversaries.
She sets out on her journey to save not only The Energy but the humans she has come to love and mankind in it’s entirety. Having lost her sword (her “Holy Weapon”) she fashions herself a new one by attaching The Energy to an Axe. I could just vision this Blonde haired, gold eyed, wingless, Warrior woman wielding the Axe and slicing random demons in half! It was Fantastic!! Milward has given us a literary Gem here; her take on Angels and God is like nothing I’ve ever read! Again, we have ourselves a strong leading lady, probably one of the strongest I’ve ever seen on paper. Milward adds to her strength and likeability as a character by giving her weakness that she must overcome as well, making her story that much more intense.
I absolutely loved EVERYTHING about this book, Fantastic, Exciting, Entertaining, Page Turning, Addicting Read!! The perfect balance of Drama, Suspense, Intrigue and Mystery (with a dash of Romance and Some Serious Ass Kicking!) Our Warrior Angel must learn to trust herself, her God and her humans if anyone is to survive.
Thoeba (an angel) lands, literally, on earth with a dunk in the water. Peter, out fishing, rescues her. He then takes her home and all hell breaks loose.
Thoeba is disdainful of humans, of their emotions and frailties. The development of Thoeba’s character is a journey worth taking. Despite being a seraphim, she has much to learn. She has little compassion or empathy for humans. They are an annoyance, but Peter and his children Zach and Kayla change her mind. As they work and fight together, Thoeba begins to see that their emotions are not a weakness.
Peter has a military background and his tactics for fighting the demons are pretty funny. There’s just enough humor to break up the havoc as well as the horror created by the demons attacking people and animals.
Each time I thought a specific aspect of the story was tied up, another plot twist came up. Each plot twist came at the perfect time leaving no time for boredom while reading.
Zach and Kayla are snarky and resourceful. It’s fun to see how Thoeba becomes attached to them. She genuinely cares for and wants to protect them.
There is a lot of action peppered with humor. Beware, there are some sex scenes but they’re not too R rated. If you like books about Angels, this is a good read. The creation story is different enough to make it interesting. It’s definitely not a cookie-cutter book.
Thoeba is fast paced and just good storytelling. The story itself is inspiring. The overall theme is simple, but true. If we have compassion and work together, we can accomplish anything. The religious aspect of the book is not so over done that it feels shoved down your throat. It’s just enough to make you think about who you are and what you stand for.
At the end of the book Thoeba is given a choice. Will she stay with the humans or go back to where she came from? Read and find out!
I really liked this book, Amazing heroine! She is no shrinking violet and I for one enjoyed that. This book is a smooth read and you definitley get transported into the story. A great weekend, snuggle up in your favorite chair kind of book. 4.5 stars
I absolutely adored this book! Thoeba is a story of good vs. evil, light and dark. Wonderful battles with Thoeba the earth bound Angel working along side her "humans" in rounds and rounds of battles with the demons. A new twist to the Good vs. Evil story.
“just make sure The Energy is safe. That is all that matters. Without The Energy, we are all lost.”

Barely aware of anything but the need to destroy, the minions of darkness experienced no pain. They understood only the joy of inflicting it.
Thoeba is an Angel, a creature of light, residing in Eden when a horde of evil kills her soul-mate and destroys her world; leaving her with mission unlike any other. She must protect The Energy, the creator of all things, and destroy the evil taking over before all is lost. Her journey lands her on earth, where The Energy believes we have the technology needed to end the battle of all battles. Thoeba doesn't particularly like humans, nor does she really trust them, but she needs them; they are her last hope and only allies in the war ahead. Will they be enough to help her destroy the monsters that have followed her to earth before they destroy that world too, and will she be able to restore the balance?
Fighting a single demon was one thing. Saving a deity along with the entire universe would be another. She had the uncomfortable sensation of doubt, that she would fail, and they would all die.
One thing I have come to rely on with this author is her ability to keep me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story; she does not disappoint with this one. Right from the beginning you just know your in for one helluva ride, and it Does. Not. Stop. The action is intense, the danger is ever-present, and the characters will surprise you with their perseverance, determination, and courage. The villains in this story are many, they are vicious and scary, without morals or souls of any kinds, which make them the very worst sort of enemy to have to face~but these people do not quit; failure is not an option. Donna Milward has this truly amazing ability to deliver us a unique story that will grip your attention the entire time, while pulling at your heart and feeding your fears, yet she sprinkles just enough hope to keep you from drowning under the weight of the situation. It is so hard to put into words the things she will make you feel, yet I wouldn't trade it for the world; once again she has knocked me on my ass and I love her for it. Another fantastic job by a fabulous author I will never get enough of.
“Are you ready?” She grinned. Her lover now knew her, himself and his destiny. Together, they could face anything. Bring forth the darkness, she thought. I have no fear.

I had mixed feelings about this book, so that's why it ended up with a 3.5/5 hearts. I love pretty much all novels about angels, mythologies, that type of thing, so that's what I mostly liked about this book. However, I feel like the author could have given us more background and story build-up in the beginning of the book, instead of rushing in and leaving the reader to piece things together. It took away from some of the story, because instead of enjoying the story, half the time I felt like I was trying to figure things out.
Another thing I didn't really care for was the switching of character POV's. I love it when an author has different character POV's and has a chapter for each character. With Thoeba, though, it feels like it randomly switches between characters, all we get is a little ~~~ to indicate the new POV. Sometimes I wasn't even completely sure which character's thoughts I was supposed to be reading about.
The story itself was really good. It keeps a good pace, things continuously happen, and the main plot was pretty well done. Most of the story is very descriptive, very easily seen in the mind's eye (when your not going WTH? sometimes lol). As you get farther into the story, you get to know the characters a little better and don't feel so lost as to who they really are, but sometimes it still didn't quite click for me.
Overall, I kind of feel like the author rushed everything down on paper (or computer, whichever, whatever), and didn't take enough time to fully build her characters, and the background of the story and its characters. Some parts of the story felt like they got more time than others spent perfecting and tweaking, but maybe it's just me. I recommend it for mythology lovers, for sure.
Thoeba is a pure bred angel created by god, the deity, what ever you want to call the energy that made us all. She was around for our beginning and came to our dimension to witness our worst using her telepathy and inivisibilty to mask her and uncover our true natures. Her world Eden that she shares with her soul mate Thani has been overrun by the darkness and in a battle to save it she lost both it and Thani. The energy sent them both to Earth as a last ditch effort to save them all but there's more than one way there and not only she knows about it.
Peter is a simple man, ex army he likes to stay at his lake side cabin and fish after his divorce. With the pickings slim he certainly didn't expect to pluck a stunningly naked woman from the water. Where did she come from?
Theoba thinks she's lost all compassion for human's after seeing the horrors they've inflicted on each other but as you see more from her you realise she's closed herself off from being hurt by not caring atall. She's strong and resilient, a true warrior.Peter is the honourable man that everyone wants. Brave and compassionate almost to a fault as he's too trusting, but perhaps that's his old soul peeking through.
Great tale with it being a different take from the many angel/demon combo's out there. The dialogue is natural with a good flow which is refreshing as I think alot of stories could do with abbreviating.Nice to have a good stand alone novel rather than a series as it was packed with details and suspense
Thoeba is an angel fighting a war in Eden. Her true love Thani fights beside her and is in charge of the energy aka God. She the warrior and he the guardian. When he dies at the hands of a demon. She takes charge of the energy, which happens to be a pendant on a necklace. Confused? Don't be. It's explained much better in the book.
We follow Thoeba into the next realm, which just happens to be earth. The portal opens up right near a boat being driven by Peter, a millitary man on break waiting for his kids Kayla and Zack to show up for the weekend. When Thoeba Falls near the boat he gets there just in time to grab her ankle. From he time he rescues her this book becomes a wild ride. Demons have followed her into this realm and Armageddon is just around the corner unless Thoeba can stop it. She will need help, but first she has to get them to believe.
The book explores a lot of topics based around religion. It is an angels vs demons book after all. Some topics may be difficult to confront, but are not intended to insult or to inspire debate. I think that it is just part of the story that the author has created. And it works well. As you can see she has worked hard to introduce new, as well as confirm conspiracy theories. And as for the conspiracy theorist in me.....I Love it!
Wow! This book is filled with suspenseful moments right from the beginning! I absolutely love this new original idea for angels and God! I've never read anything like this before and it was so awesome to have a new world and concept opened up for me! In this tale we meet Thoeba a warrior angel who has the weight of the world on her shoulders and has to protect the most important thing to mankind and the most important thing to keep the balance of all realms from evil darkness taking over all life forms! We get to join her in this unforgettable battle along with Peter and his children. The author writes so vividly and her descriptions are so precise you are riding along for the fun! I found myself biting my nails and actually holding my breath! Every character was written with flaws that everyone can relate to. Even angels aren't perfect and can have human desires, even The Energy has limits. It's a whole new way to look at the way we picture these otherworldly creatures! The pace in this book takes every page and gives you just the right amount of information that keeps you scrolling through to find out what will happen to our favorite angel and humans! Fantastic job Donna Milward! I can't wait for whatever else you may have up your sleeve! Your writing style is right up my alley! I give this book my thumbs up!
Thoeba is an angel in what appears to be a classic battle of good vs. evil. But this battle is anything but classic as she plummets to Earth, losing her wings in the process, yet retaining her hold on the Energy (her god). Her entire existence has changed, yet she knows the battle remains. Her objective also remains as she must restore the Energy to power. Meanwhile, there is at least one demon ready to destroy her and the Energy - the Jim-thing. Why is Thoeba with the family on the lake? Who will listen to the Energy? Who will win the battle? Come battle evil with Thoeba and her companions and see how this one ends!
Thoeba is a complex character, strong yet with doubts, protective yet wary. It was interesting to read her story and see how she constantly works to protect the Energy and the family she is with. This book has a different take on the after-life with angels who fall in love, reincarnation, and a god who is carried in a crystal. Thanks, Nicola of Vamptasy Publishing, for the opportunity to read this e-book. I think Donna Milward will be very popular.
Thoeba, a fallen angel warrior, has escaped to Earth to protect her deity, her God, from the demons. She has always found humans as useless creatures that think too loud. That is, until she meets Peter.
While Peter is fishing near his cabin outside Alberta, Thoeba appears wearing nothing but her deity and two wing shaped burns etched into her back. Knowing he could not leave her there, he brings her back to his A-frame retreat. Peter quickly realizes that the more he learns about Thoeba, the more trouble that may be in his future.
But the demons have followed Thoeba to Earth in search of the deity she protects. The tremendous battle of good vs. evil is certain. Thoeba needs to prevail to protect the humans and her God.
My praise goes out to Donna Millward on her debut novel. Thoeba is a great start to a spectacular career. I found it engrossing with all of my favorites in one. I can’t wait to read more of her work in the future.
Thoeba is a warrior, an angel, a protector. She will give everything she can to protect her god, The Energy, from evil. She’s lost her love, her wings and her dignity and the only thing left is to retreat to Earth to save The Energy.
But darkness follows her to the mortal planet, and Thoeba must rely on her new friends to help her restore The Energy to power. With her now limited abilities, she must rely on the human spirit (and human technology) to safeguard her friends and her god.
Milward’s breakout novel is fantastic. She captures all the elements of good vs. evil. She created a character the reader falls in love within the first few pages. As quickly has Thoeba is falling to earth, the reader determined to protect her from the pages that follow. With the perfect amount of drama, suspense and mystery, this mythological tale is one to keep.
Thoeba is no cliched fallen angel. She's a warrior of the Energy, and an angel seeking her lost love. She's fierce, compassionate, and smart - heck, when I grow up I want to BE Thoeba. Through her eyes, the reader is transported on a dangerous journey to Earth, and we must outrun demons (like Jim-thing!) and restore the Energy to its power...like, now!
Donna Milward is a fresh voice in paranormal romance fiction, but you'd think she was a seasoned pro. Despite this book's commercial appeal, Donna has such a way with words that the narrative reads almost like poetry. Thoeba is beautiful and compelling.
This was a pretty interesting story about an epic battle to save Earth from the monsters from Hell. I really liked that the angel Thoeba wasn't just a stoic warrior but felt human emotions. The idea to have the god be the Energy and be trapped inside a jewel was kinda interesting. I was getting a little bored with it in the middle but it got a lot better toward the end. All in all, a good read.
The air smelled pure, like the day Earth was born. No sins of man or demon tainted it.
Both, the cover and the description, although fitting the story, reveal nothing of the turmoil and the fight for survival of the entire worlds at that I realized I “took part” with interest. And here I must add that, although without insisting about the true meaning of Apocalypse, the author introduces its correct, canonical term, that of revelation, disclosure, discovery and of the final victory of God over evil and not the figurative sense, but well spread, of the end of the world. To avoid any doubt, all of the fantastic elements that could get religious connotations are at a level that match the generalized principles of any religion. Although messages are plenty, if you want to see them, Thoeba is not a Sunday sermon. From another point of view, even if the story is aided here and there by the fantastic elements, the author does not abuse of them, and so, the "realism" of the events wins extra points.
The Prologue, despite its tragicness, opens the door to many opportunities for the story to develop so that the reader who expects a simple fantasy, a romance will see how much he was wrong. If the story begins with a miraculous rescue and the beginning of a relationship, God works in mysterious ways, these will only serve to augment and stress the importance of the choices necessary to be made in the fight to come.
Oh, and what battle will come! A battle in which the author is careful to not give any guarantee about who will survive and so all of the characters are always in danger of making the ultimate sacrifice. The race against time enjoys extreme situations, unexpected, twists, characters’ ingenuity and tenacity, an optimum quantity and “quality” of the grotesque and gore. I think that even the male readers will not have much to criticize.
The main characters are varied, appealing, and each of them brings a significant contribution to the course of the events. The relationships between them gradually evolve. Although somewhat stereotypical: the computer genius, the one with military training, the sarcastic and rebellious daughter, the innocent good boy and the hero with special mission, once again, the author manages to create the characters in a way that makes you relate to them and to not say that you read this before. Donna Milward is not afraid, and well she does, to put her heroes in "humane" even embarrassing situations, situation that will emphasize, punctuate their limitations, the stakes of the battle and the absurdity of human nature.
A different kind of a fallen angel, a whirlpool of lost and found feelings, faith and hope, suspense and an alert pace without idle, death moments, but with intense ones, a fantastical version of Creationism, and the possibility of saving your soul, gore and guns, sacred or not, all are intertwined in a story whose pages fly imperceptibly and reaffirms the words of the President Thomas Whitmore’s character: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive!” (Independence Day – the movie)
Read Thoeba and see if this time the humanity manages to survive and what will be the fate of our heroes. I liked it.

From the start this book caught my attention! Thoeba is such a wonderful take on the battle between good and evil. From losing your love to finding them only to find out he doesn't remember anything of this last life with you. Such emotional turns that she feel from the people around you. This is not the typical major battle that you know for sure who will win. Thoeba, a warrior angel, has fled her home if Eden, after it has been destroyed to save the Energy from being destroyed too. Escaping thought a portal to Earth, she has to find a way to save the Energy and the plant from the darkness. When arriving, The Energy made her wingless so she can blend in but she was also hurt so she fell from the heavens. Found by Peter in the lake he sved her and would do anything to help. Expecially after he find out some crucial details he thought could never happen. Now Thoeba, Peter and his two kids Kayla, and Zack along with the later help of some unexpected people do all in their minds and body to help It, God, the Energy, save the planet from darkness. And to bring back the balance between Good and Evil. Such an amazing read, it was hard to put down. Besides a few minor errors on in my e-book edition, I enjoyed it from beginning to end and wanted more. The author pulled me into the story, creating a movie in my head. I would recomend that you read this book :)

Okay so I was really enjoying the book in the beginning. It had a different plot from any other that I have read. I loved how Thoeba had to come to Earth to protect the Energy. Of course not many people believed her and were suspicious about who she really was. There were even assumptions like she was Peter's girlfriend the man who rescued her. But what really through me off this was that she had sex with Peter! Apparently in the book if I remember correctly (feel free to correct me if am wrong and I'll give the book another go) she's practically the age of Peter's daughter. Peter is old because he has salt and pepper facial hair and you can get that as early as your late 30's I believe, but you get my point. She had sex with him because he reminded her of her beloved who died at the beginning Thani. Sorry, but I think that is sick! I know some people are like "age shouldn't matter", but I'm sorry if they are twice your age it's gross.

Heaven is overthrown and an angel falls to earth, losing her wings in the process. She has a pendant that conatains, THE ENERGY, which is God. The evil has followed her and she needs to find the right equipment to set THE ENERGY free. When Thoeba falls to earth, she is found by ex army colonel Peter. Him and his two children,Zack(a computer guru) and Kayla, set out to help her. They pick up a young army private along the way and head for a supposedly non-existant army base. Zack believes that this facility has what they need to set THE ENERGY free and save their world. If they can servive the creatures that are trying to kill them and a power hungry scientist who wants the power for his own glory, they might just save the world. I enjoyed this book, it is unique and interesting. Check it out.
Engaged in a battle with the spawns of Satan, Thorns is forced to flee from the heavens to earth in order to save herself. She drops in the middle of a lake and winds up in the middle of life with Peter and his children. Humans are so not her favorite species! Immediately she knows that neither her or her new "friends" are safe, as the demons who wrecked her world are on their way to earth to find her. How does she convince the humans the importance the energy plays in the existence of their whole world? For me this is am interesting concept of the angel phenomenon. While angels aren't my favorite, I have to say that the book was entertaining. It was interesting watching Thoeba try and adapt to earth and human clothing. I found those parts very humorous. Overall a solid novel.
I just love books about angels! Sometimes they have the best twist and turns. Donna Milward's debut novel Theoba did not disappoint!
Donna pulls you into this world where Theoba (an angel that has fallen to Earth), Peter (divorced human) and his 2 kids, Kayla and Zach, intertwine with each other and create a AMAZING STORY! There is fighting, angels, demons, humor and everything in between!! I love the interactions between the characters and the battle between with good and evil!!
I love how Donna makes you really feel for the characters and creates this amazing world of angels, demons and humans. The story keeps going with each turn of the page and you are wanting to know what happens next.
In reading this book I went through a few stages. In starting it, it seemed very interesting, main character- Thoeba, crash landing basically on earth with the deity and Peter finding her. Alright- well where is this going to go? That got me, I wanted to keep reading to find out. Then it started to get into "It" and "It" was "God" ... which threw me for a loop for a bit. I wasn't sure if it was going to star to get religious or what...but I've never been one to just throw a book out for that so I kept reading. Once I got past that - and realized that it wasn't going to go that way- it turned out to be a great read. Good angels- bad demons, it threw a lot of good stuff in. I would definitely recommend it.
Theoba is a fantastic story! The heroine, Thoeba, is an angel who plummets to Earth with the Engery (God), only to lose it in the fall. Unfortunately, Theoba isn't the only one falling to Earth, she is quickly folllowed by a legion of demons hell bent on finding the Energy and using it to destroy the world as we know it. Theoba meets a group of humans who band together with her to recover the Energy, and keep it from falling into the hands of darkness. Along the way, she learns what it means to be human, while the humans in turn find divniity. Its a fast-paced, exciting tale of good vs. evil, love, and sacrifice.
