For the last fifteen years, vampire queen Iona has been dead to the world. Trapped under the power of a brutal curse, she has been helpless. A prisoner, locked within her own still body. Then alpha werewolf Jamie O’Connell fights his way to her side. After defeating the guards that surround her, Jamie gives Iona his blood…and she rises.
The world has changed a great deal in the last fifteen years, and Iona has changed, too. Once known as the Blood Queen because of her dark reputation, she now finds herself longing for the blood of only one man…only he isn’t just a man. She wants the blood of her werewolf—Jamie’s blood. But Iona doesn’t realize that Jamie has been keeping secrets from her. Very dark, dangerous secrets. And Iona may have traded one curse for another.
Now that he has Iona, Jamie vows to never let her go. He needs his Blood Queen in order to defeat his enemy, he needs her to make his own beast stronger, and…he just needs her. Jamie has risked his life to claim Iona, and he won’t let anything break their bond. Not time. Not spells. Not even a wild and reckless vampire queen…
Warning: This is a hot vampire and werewolf romance novella...so in this story, you will find danger, lust, adult language and adult sexy times.

I really like these short novella's, they have action, sexual tension and conflict. The hero is a werewolf who wants revenge for his family's death and to do that he needs the heroine, dubbed the Blood Queen and who has been under some spell for fifteen years. So he frees her and bonds her to his blood.
The heroine is super strong and not what people made her out to be. She is not evil instead she had to kill to protect herself from her father and husband and that event got her the name Blood Queen. She is also part-witch and her blood powerful, that is what made the hero's half brother imprison her besides sabotage from within her coven that helped bring her down.
I liked the conflict, someone as powerful as her forced to depend on the hero. He like everyone else needs blood from her and she sees his memories. But he tells her that he never counted her while thinking of using her as an instrument of revenge and offers her a choice. I liked how he was willing to go the distance to make her give them a chance.
I think by now it's no secret that I love Cynthia Eden's writing. This Bound series is no exception. It always amazes me how she can pack so much action and steamy goodness into such a short story.
Here we have a werewolf alpha named Jamie who is going to awaken the Blood Queen (a vampire queen who has been under a sleeping spell for years). He thinks that he will use her and bind her to him and that will be that.
Iona wakes from a 15 year long "sleep" and her world is turned upside down. She had been betrayed and imprisoned in sleep, but she doesn't know the half of it.
The two of them find out they kinda sorta like each other and they both want to defeat a common enemy, but...(isn't there always a but?) Iona sleeps and dreams Jamie's memories from his blood. He is by now in love with her, and he knows what she'll dream-His planning on betraying her. But she doesn't know he's changed his plans. Iona feels she can't stay with him, and Jamie does something very painful and very romantic. I loved it.
This is the fourth in the Bound series, and I'm hoping there will be more.
"Bound by the Night" is the story of Iona and Jamie. Blood queen and vampire-witch Iona has been trapped under a spell for 15 years, while her enemies destroyed her coven and paralyzed her for torture. She finds herself freed by werewolf alpha Jamie, who she soon discovers has his own agendas.. Tortured h and H, hot sex, betrayals and angst- this was a surprisingly good read and I wished it was longer! Enjoyed it. Safe 4/5
Love triangle? Cheating? HEA? Any Descriptive Sex w/OW/OM/Ex? Would I read more by this author/or in this series? Maybe, but not for now. Rating: 4 stars
Review
I think this one was the most interesting story in this series. The h reminded me of Melody from Ruthless People, which I loved. She can be lethal, ruthless but also woundable. I also liked the H and secondary characters.
Well, unfortunately, I did not enjoy this one as well as the other books in this series of novellas. I did not really like the heroine all that much. I get it, she had it bad, had lived a long time but I never really warmed up to her. Maybe if this book had been longer and we could have explored their relationship more, I would have grown to like her better. I feel with this type of character, who starts off so abrupt and "evil" (tho not really evil) you really need a longer story to really delve more into the character.
All of these books in the Bound series are stand alone. They reference other matings but never by name. I would for sure read the first book in this series before reading the others because it is where the vampire and werewolf matings start. After that, it's not a big deal to read out of order.
It wasn't bad but I didn't feel the connection between the characters The plot was good but Jamie and Iona weren't very interesting to me and I didn't really buy the whole love thing. This one was a miss for me.

Bound by the Night is very different from the previous novella's in the Bound series to date. Everyone has an ulterior motive within Bound by the Night, which makes for some seriously interesting reading. I didn't enjoy Iona as much as I wanted too. She's a super interesting character with some amazing back history and she's dealt with a lot in her life but I felt she was rather detached from it all and I just couldn't seem to warm to her character. Which in turn made it a little hard for me to enjoy Jamie as, he obviously falls in love with her and at times I found it hard to believe because no matter what Jamie did for or too Iona it just never seems to be enough for her right until the very end and by that point I got it but it was a bit lackluster in comparison to the other novella's in the series.
However, Bound by the Night is such an interesting storyline that really you can't help but be pulled into it, I think this is due to Ms Eden's wonderful writing style especially with the Bound series. As it's all short stories {novella's} she manages to really draw you in rather quickly and I think this helps greatly as even with Bound by the Night the backstory of the characters is quick and snappy and isn't drawn out even though there's so much Ms Eden clearly wants to cover with the past of Iona and Jamie.
Overall, a great storyline even if I wasn't pulled in by the characters as I usually am with this series.
Latham is a psychotic, power-hungry werewolf that just seems to know how to get under everyones skin. Jamie has been out to kill him for revenge of his parents, one of whom happens to be Latham's own father. When Jamie discovers a way to stop him, to cut him off of his power supply, he has no mercy for anyone that stands in his way. That was before he met Iona. The power source. The Blood Queen.
Imprisoned in her own body for fifteen years, Iona is a little pissed when she is risen from her personal hell to find she is now bound to a werewolf. This bonding is different than a normal kind, though. Its more like a curse that allows only the blood of the alpha that awoken her to satisfy her hunger. She never did like to rely on others for her well being.
With the bond completed and the curse casted, Jamie and Iona must find a way for them to both seek what they desire most; Revenge. Latham will pay for what he has put them through, what he has put many through. Once that's done, they can go live their lives the way they want to, without the control of another shadowing every corner. But what about the bond? Is Iona forever at Jamie's mercy? Is he really so different from his crazy half brother that wanted her for his disposal? Or does Jamie truly care for Iona's happiness? She has to find out one way or another, or she will forever resent him for what he has done to her. Or they could never be together.
So much drama, so much action. The love scenes were wild. The passion within the characters had me aching for their happy endings. I loved the series as a whole and hope to read more like it!
I have to give this one just an OK. The story had great potential but it really fell flat compared to some of the others. I really wanted to like the Heroine but she was really what made me give this a two star rating.
I could understand her angst at being bested by Latham, a werewolf and being held prisoner, and not having a choice in donating to him regularly. What I didn't understand is what seemed to be her biggest hangup about him, which was all the time that had been taken away from her. She was asleep for 15 years, which would be a really long time if you're 30, or 50 or even 100. Since Iona is 1600 years old, 15 years really equates to a nap.
Also, for being 1600 years old she seems very immature and way too trusting of people. Especially given her past and how she came to be known of as the Blood Queen.
Jamie on the other hand felt more real to me. But he just couldn't make up for everything that I felt Iona was lacking. I really did want to like this story and it could have been great. I just felt like it fell flat.
Okay, I didn't really like the novella in the start 'cause I had a hard time liking Iona. I'd say Jamie was cool and all but I just really disliked Iona. Why would I like a girl who's named the Blood Queen? But then again... the name was kinda pretty cool and then I thought I'd get to read about this badass vampire queen who would eliminate all her enemies that stand in her way, so yeah... I viewed the novella at another angle. But all my judgement and the way I perceived Iona was really wrong and that surprised me in the extreme. I've come to love her as the story progressed and she really wasn't the evil queen that I viewed her to be.
I loved Iona and Jamie's chemistry. I disliked it at first like the way I disliked Iona at first but it I came to really really love their relationship in the end. Out of all the novellas in the Bound series by Cynthia Eden, Bound by Night might be the best one yet!
In a personal scale from 1-10, I say I'd rate this book an 8.
I love these novellas. You can read them in any order and each one gives us sexy vampires and werewolves, and they are all at a great price of only .99 cents!!
Jamie is an alpha wolf and Iona is known as the Blood Queen, and they are brought together by a common enemy. In order for Jamie to beat his enemy he needs the Iona but rescuing comes with a twist for Iona, she is now dependent on Jamie which doesn't go over to well with her. But both of them want their revenge so they will work together to get it.
These two heat up the pages fast! Bound by the Night has a little of everything, vampires, werewolves, witches, hot sex, romance, action, and its just one great read!! These novellas are well worth the money. If you are looking for a quick read but that packs as much story as novel then you have found it here!!
One thing for sure is that, damn this series is so so so addicted. I love you, CE!
I am about to do comparison. Did I need to? I think so. I enjoyed reading this one but I didn't enjoy as much as I read the previous books. Jamie is like any other alpha werewolves in this series -- possessive and overprotective. However, the Blood Queen, she's so infuriating throughout the story but I can't help to like her anyway because she is way lethal than other female vampires in this series so far.
Why? Fire will destroy a vampire but Iona the Blood Queen, instead killing her, she stirred fire. Yep.
Another great story from the Bound series (this one is book 4). These novellas are perfect for when you want a quick read with fast paced action, sexy romance and a happy ending. Always featuring a vampire and werewolf couple (and told from both POVs), the books don’t really tie together, except for the world, and vague mentions of other couple of earlier in the series.
Very enjoyable, would recommend them to all lovers of PNR.
I love these novellas they are so hot steamy and awesome I'm a advocate vampire fan but the hot sexy dominating and posseivness of weres is too much to resist mix with a vampire and boom I'm in heaven I love the vamp/were love stories its full of passion and these series is the best yet well done :))
I enjoyed yet another piece of Cynthia Eden's I love the fact she's not afraid to do the paranormal romance it has twists and turns and love and lust and well hot sex so it definitely wasn't a let down even though it was a short story it didn't feel it. It had a very clear beginning, middle and end.
This installment is somewhat different from the others. Iona has been asleep from a curse by a werewolf. He uses witchracft to keep her locked into her own body.
Jamie is an alpha werewolf whose brother Lachlan had murdered his whole family. His discovers that Iona is one the victims of his nefarious crimes. He sets about to free her. He has an ulterior motive though. He has to drink her blood to make him stronger in order to beat Lachlan. He frees her and now Iona is out for blood. She wants revenge on his brother and those who betrayed her. Through his blood she discovers that he needs herstrength to defeat Lachlan. She walks away, only to experience his feelings and at the same time realises that she is in love with him. He has been in love with her since they first met.
They have to go through so many hurdles to achieve their goals and eventually good prevails over evil. She gets her freedom but she has lost her heart to Jamie and their future looks promising. It's a great addition to the series.
This book did what the first two weren't able to do. We get the full story, seeing the H & h meet, we watch their relationship develop, and nothing feels particularly rushed. Could it have been better if it were longer, of course, but that's only because I liked the book so much I wanted more of it. I didn't feel like anything happened too fast, yes it moved quickly but it fit with the story. I would recommend this to someone wanting a quick read.
Jamie is the Alpha werewolf of his pack, what pack is left after Latham killed them all. When Jamie was young his half brother, Latham, came to live with them. Jamie could tell from the start that Latham had an evil side from the start, but no one would listen. His dad said he was jealous of his abilites as a wolf. He soon realize better him than someone else but it does the same thing to Iona. When Jamie kicks Sean out and they are alone he gives her his blood and then things heat up. He didn't realize it would feel this good. Jamie didn't realize that exchange blood with her would make him so jealous of her and other people. He also didn't count on the lust he would feel when she bit him and things heat up. Once she is done drinking he takes his turn taking her blood.
His feeling grow for her and he knows he still needs her help getting revenge on Latham. When Jamie took her blood he sees her father burning her at the stake for being a witch and vampire. He sees she had to kill he husband because he came after her. Jamie tells her he understands why she killed them, but he wants to know why she killed her coven in LA the day she was taken. The shock is clear on her face she didn't know they were dead. She escapes Jamie again and takes off on a motorcycle. What she doesn't know is Jamie reconizes the guy as one of Lathams. Iona soon realizes the guy isn't friendly and throws him off the bike and takes off to LA to see for herself is her coven is all dead. Jamie follows her and tells her he would have brought her to see for herself that she didn't have to take off. Micheal shows up a vampire from her coven and soon she realizes he is the one who betrayed her and help Latham posion her. Thats how Latham over powered her she was drugged. Well Micheal doesnt last long.
Jamie and Iona's just wants to leave and get to the nearest hotel and away from the home she loved and felt safe in. He takes her to the best 5 star hotel around. She wants to clean the ash and blood of and strips down and head for the shower. Jamie wants her so bad and when she invites him in he doesn't hesitate. They make a pact to kill him together. They know its a trap and the get there early to set one for Latham instead. The battle is intense and so are the truths that come out.
This book is great, fast paced, fights, forbidden lust between a vampire and werewolf and will love conquer the differences between them so they can be together? You will have to read to see.....

It’s an ok read. Everything happened too fast for me though. Maybe am just not used to Cynthia Eden’s writing style in this series as they all seem to be so fast, just a few days to fall in love and resolve the danger.
