There is a saying amongst writers that the first page sells the book, the last page sells the next book. I was happily surprised that so many of the stories were original and good. I've been disappointed lately in some anthologies of short stories because, often, the stories are too much alike. These were pretty good and different from each other. But, the last story's characters were so nasty, and snarky, and murderous that I didn't care for any of them. I wondered why they put that story last since the last story is usually the one readers remember. So, that last story left me with a bad feeling, to the point of almost forgetting that most of the rest of the book was okay.
These are great reads. Each story had its own voice. I really enjoyed each story. I was happy to see the mix of fiction and non-fiction. They were all different, but centered on the theme. Highly recommend.
This anthology is unique and definitely entertaining. From 'Sprout' by Brenda Layman to 'Rerun' by Birney Reed this collection of short stories was an absolute delight.
This is a book of short stories. Like all books of short stories there were stories I couldn't put down, stories that made me cry, stories that made me think and 1 I couldn't get into, and some that were several of those things. All were well written and i enjoyed the book very much.
Some stories better than others, and as much as I am loathe to admit it, a few that hit really hard. A few had interesting ways of playing on the theme of "resurrection".
