Everything you ever wanted to know about the Great Race between the General and Texas engines in Georgia. This is the most detailed account assembled in Charles O'Neill and published in 1956. Every man involved is featured with their leader, Major James J Andrews and volunteer who took part. The book uses accounts from the men with occasional comments from the Editor to provide context and background. The raid results in men hanged, escaped and released over time. The very first Medals of Honor were awarded for the bravery demonstrated by these men.
Not reading this exact title but one on this topic.
This is quite a tale from the Civil War. Remembered the details of the train robbery but didn't remember the fate of those involved. My family has visited The General at a museum in Kennesaw, Georgia.
