I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.
After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.
Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.
Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.
One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.

What's hotter than two sexy Marine heroes? A Marine menage with a sexy tough as nails Gunnery Sergeant sandwiched between the aforementioned heroes. Retreat Hell! She Just Got Here is a fun short story with great characters and sex scorching enough to make even the most rugged drill sergeant blush ;) The only downside? It left me wanting more of Logan, Jasmine, and Zach's story!!

Very steamy read!!! Loved the game of Truth or Dare! Hot hot hot! This story was more about the steam than some of the others in the series! Fan your face a few times ladies it gets mighty hot!
Great story with lots of heart. I love the dynamic between these three and hope to see their relationship progress though the series! I will take glimpses of them in other books any day!
It is wonderful seeing Logan and Zach supporting each other, I would have liked the author to elaborate a bit more on their bond. Jazz was great and so engaging! I felt for her and her struggle to be a woman and a Marine. As a former Army reservist I know just how unsexy BDUs can be! Sometimes ya just want to girly it up!

Heather Long has done the near-impossible. She's enticed me not only to read a menage story, but fall in love with it as well!
Gunnery Sergeant Jasmine Winters is a rough and tumble Marine who has seen her share of combat. Always ready for a fight, she's proven herself on the battlefield, but what she really wants, even if only for a brief time, is to feel like a woman. With this goal in mind, she signs up for Madame Eve's 1Night Stand service, hoping to find not one, but two men to share a hot passionate night and helping find the woman she knows is buried deep inside.
Zach Evans is a combat veteran who has devoted a good deal of the last few months to his best friend, Logan Cavanaugh, who was badly injured by a roadside bomb. Unwilling to allow Logan to wither away in self-pity, Zach signed them up, along with the rest of their unit, to the 1Night Stand service. There was a difference with this request, however. Because Logan was resistant, Zach signed up for a menage, a practice the two men had engaged in prior to their combat days.
Logan, who has battled back from injury, even having to learn to walk again, is nervous about their pending date, not only because of the various scars he now has up and down his body, but because he's been sadly impotent since that fateful day. With Zach's encouragement, he's agreed, but still isn't confident things will go well once their date arrives. I will say Logan was definitely my favorite of the three; my heart went out to an American hero, trying to find what his life is supposed to be after devastation.
I am a huge lover of romance, but my preference is usually one man - one woman. This story is number two in a series, and since I read them out of order, this one came up last. I'm happy about that because by the time this book came across my desk I had more faith in Ms. Long than I have in most any other author. I knew the power of her writing and gave the story of a three-way a chance. I was NOT disappointed.
I felt a strong connection to all three of these individuals. Their motivations and needs were clearly laid out and I was rooting for all three of them to get what they needed out of their night of passion. Their sex was certainly hot, but they were also very respectful and had a genuine like of the others. Just like the other titles in the Always a Marine stories, it's so easy to get lost in the words on the page. Heather Long is an amazing talent. I'd love for her to connect the stories of all these individuals into a longer novel so I can spend more time with them!
I can't recommend all of her series highly enough, but if you like the idea of a menage, this story will definitely NOT disappoint!

From start to finish, this book was an absolute pleasure. I loved the story line of bringing together these three people who really needed what each other had to give and in one passion-filled night they got it.
Jasmine is a Gunnery Sergeant in the Marines and for one night she just wants to be treated like a desirable woman. Logan and Zach are Marines who were honorably discharged due to disability. Zach wanted this one night where he and Logan his best friend and battle buddy shared a woman and he hoped beyond hope that she would bring pleasure to his hurting, bitter and scared friend.
Jasmine is just what both men need and she is delighted with them. They share a night of passion and pleasure.
I connected with the characters and the story right away. Their scorching hot foreplay and coming together more than worked for me because the author wrote it all in such a way that I could believe in it. I'm glad to see that their story is revisited later in the series.
Those who enjoy quick, hot passionate reads with strong characters and story lines should give this series a try.

Definitely enjoyable - not only because of the sex and tension but because of the glimpses you get into these characters. For a short these three are remarkably well described and fun to read about. I keep waiting for the real Madame Eve to show herself!

The second book in the Always a Marine series is well written and kept me turning pages. This is a short story but the storyline is well done and the pages flow smoothly from page to page there is so much story in these pages. Gunnery Sergeant Jasmine `Jazz' Winters gets signed up to Madame Eve's 1 Night Stand dating services by her Mother she is primped and pampered for her date with Logan Cavanaugh and his best friend Zach Evans. Zach is hoping that Jazz can help his best friend feel like he is worth something again after all the damage he has suffered in an attack while they where in the Marines, and the damage his ex caused him. One hot story.

Very short book. The reader follows Jazz through a date set up through an agency. Feels more like an escort service, but no one on the date is being paid. Logan and Zach also signed up through the dating agency. All three characters are either veterans or active duty military. I am drawn into the story by both Logan the injured, bitter soldier and Jazz a female soldier that does not often feel like a woman. For such a short story it is sexy and emotional.

Ok so I know it seems odd to review two books in a series out of order; but these two books tell the story of Logan Cavanaugh, Zach Evans and Jasmine Evans and you will want to read them as a pair!
Retreat Hell! She Just Got Here is part of Heather Long's Always a Marine series as well as Decadents larger 1Night Stand series.
Jazz a Marine over a decade, it is her life and she loves serving her country. While on leave she deserves to explore her femininity, and her deepest sexual desire, a menage.
The 1Night Stand service, sends her to Las Vegas for a one night fantasy before she re-lists with the Marines for another long tour.
Jasmine knocks on a hotel room door that puts her face to face with two men who grew up as brothers and are best friends until the end.
The readers learns that Logan Cavanaugh and Zach Evans have been to hell and back. Logan was severely injured serving his country and Zach put his life on hold to help to help his friend rebuild his life.
A year later this evening is Zach's way to help Logan regain his sexuality, something Logan fear is long gone.
The chemistry between the three is tangible and Ms Long did an amazing job showing vulnerability in each. Logan's hesitation will pull at your heart strings as this Marine who gave so much to his country fears he won't be able to love a woman again.
There is scene when Logan knows he can move forward that will have you grinning from ear to ear.
Zach, Zach is a man who would do anything to bring the smile back to friend face and put the fire back in his eyes. He emotional connection to Logan is powerful and his desire to Jazz is something embraces almost instantly.
These three have no idea they are all Marine but is a tie that binds and serves for a level of respect that is felt deep and is almost unspoken.
Jasmine well, this lady gets more than she bargained for as there men open with a game of truth or dare to break the ice and well end the evening with… you will have to read the book to find out.
I will say that immediately after ending this book I picked up as you will want to Book #6 in the Always a Marine; Series No Regrets, No Surrender.
No Regrets, No Surrender takes place months after the evening in Retreat Hell.
In the month between books has Jazz Winters returning to active duty in the Middle East and Logan and Zach working to build their lives outside of the Marine while staying in touch with Jazz.
When "the call" comes the men's life are turned upside down, they know they are deeply effect by Jazz and are determined to do whatever it takes to make her theirs, yes theirs, Logan and Zach know they want to share Jazz.
Jazz returned to her men wounded, both physically and emotional. Ms Long did masterful job using this injury to move the story moved, develop relationships while also retelling Logan's journey back from his injuries.
Jazz's recovery is not easy, it is not pretty but her men stick by her, she pushed them away, the push back. It is powerful, and makes you love Logan and Zach to pieces. These men prove for better or worse before they even know Jazz will accept them forever.
We learn that Logan's recovery was thanks to Zach, and well Logan returns that by helping Jazz in spades; this entwined devotion to each other makes the foundation of a relationship that the reader will be rooting for a happy ending with.
I thoroughly enjoyed the use of Jazz's Mother, it was humorous, emotional and endearing.
Jazz loves Logan and Zach but accepting what loving to men brings may be too much for her. I am not going to tell you how Jazz deals with her feelings but I will say I thoroughly enjoyed the end.
It did not make their relationship out to be easy, they speak openly about their being challenges but the men's love of Jazz will leave you with a heart of love!

Though Jasmine knows this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to fulfill her fantasy. She isn’t certain she’s Marine enough to let the real woman inside come out for all to see.
Zach Evans and Logan Cavanaugh have been best friends since high school and brothers in arms since enlisting together. They’ve always have one another’s back until a fateful bombing leaves Logan scarred and impotent. The doctors claim Logan’s impotence is psychosomatic. Zach doesn’t know if it is or not. He only knows he’ll do anything to put the light back into his friend’s eyes. Anything. So with the help of the 1 Night Stand dating service, Zach plans a joint maneuver with his best friend and an special lady chosen by 1NSD who he hopes will help Logan rise to the occasion, in more ways than one, to embrace life once more.
The title of this novella doesn’t do this story justice, but that’s a minor issue. On the whole, Heather Long gave me a believable and timely story about three people–three Marines– that the reader can truly care about. Retreat Hell! She Just Got Here is a story about true friendship, love of country and the sacrifices our military personnel make. It’s also a story of two men and a woman who are willing to take the ultimate risk of total intimacy for the amazing gift of feeling totally alive — emotionally and sexually–without past encumbrances or fear. There is a wonderful promise agreed to by the three at the end of this tale that fitted the story perfectly. I’d love to see these special characters together once more. Retreat Hell…is a heartfelt, hot and tender tale. Semper Fi indeed. Dark Haven Diva

This was one hot short story. It's packed with passion and lust and I loved it. Though it may have been missing the emotional connection I crave, it sure made up for it with hot sex!
Jazz has spent the last ten years serving her country and is tired of being treated like one of the guys. For once she wants to feel sexy and wanted. Not only that, but she wants to be girly and flirt with guys that desire her before she has to go off and fight again. She figures one last night to get everything she wants before she re-enlists with the Marines.
Logan and Zach have been the best of friends for as long as they can remember. Both do everything together including sharing woman. At least they used to before both were in an accident and were injured. Logan's injuries were pretty bad and he faces the possibility of never being able to be with a woman. Zach feels horrible for what happened but he thinks Logan's issue is just mental. He knows that if the right girl came along Logan will be able to forge ahead. So they both join the 1Night Stand dating service with the stipulation that they go on a threesome date.
As soon as Jazz arrives to the hotel room things get heated pretty quickly. There is no getting to know each other first. They just hop to it. They are driven by the fierce passionate connection they are all experiencing.
I really enjoyed this story and thought it was wicked hot. I liked the dynamics with the three. I really enjoyed being inside the guys heads. Both are extremely attracted to Jazz and are enjoying themselves immensely.
I hope the author revisits these characters either in another short or perhaps in the series. I feel there is much more to their story and I would love to seem them together again.

Jazz has spent the last ten years serving her country and is tired of being treated like one of the guys. For once she wants to feel sexy and wanted. Not only that, but she wants to be girly and flirt with guys that desire her before she has to go off and fight again. She figures one last night to get everything she wants before she re-enlists with the Marines.
Logan and Zach have been the best of friends for as long as they can remember. Both do everything together including sharing woman. At least they used to before both were in an accident and were injured. Logan's injuries were pretty bad and he faces the possibility of never being able to be with a woman. Zach feels horrible for what happened but he thinks Logan's issue is just mental. He knows that if the right girl came along Logan will be able to forge ahead. So they both join the 1Night Stand dating service with the stipulation that they go on a threesome date.
As soon as Jazz arrives to the hotel room things get heated pretty quickly. There is no getting to know each other first. They just hop to it. They are driven by the fierce passionate connection they are all experiencing.
I really enjoyed this story and thought it was wicked hot. I liked the dynamics with the three. I really enjoyed being inside the guys heads. Both are extremely attracted to Jazz and are enjoying themselves immensely.
I hope the author revisits these characters either in another short or perhaps in the series. I feel there is much more to their story and I would love to seem them together again.

I would like to see a longer version of their story, I think Jasmine and Logan hit it off well and their romance can go beyond a one night stand.

I have to be honest and say I was apprehensive when I first read the synopsis for this story. I have had a difficult time finding menage stories that didn't focus on the relationship and focused more on the sexual relationship. While I enjoy erotica, it still has to have a bit of romance to keep me interested. I am glad I broke my own comfort level and read it.
Jasmine "Jazz" Winters is signed by up for Madame Eve's 1NS service by her mother before a deployment. She is a Gunnery Sgt. in the USMC and wanted to fulfill a fantasy before deploying again. I love Jazz's spunk and her no non-sense attitude, but I love that she wanted to feel like a woman.
Logan, who was injured in the same bombing that killed Col. Dexter, Luke's father (from Always a Marine #1). I missed that the first time I read the story, but as usual, you catch something new every time you read or watch something. Logan is scarred and does believe that he is capable of performing sexually. I loved Logan and his attitude but what I loved more was when Jazz was able to make Logan feel like a man again.
Zach, Logan's best friend and fellow Marine, signs the pair up for a menage through Madame Eve's 1NS service to help Logan begin to live again. I love Zach's utter devotion to Logan and knew what Logan needed even when Logan didn't or didn't want to acknowledge it.

"Retreat Hell! She Just Got Here" is the second book in the "Always a Marine" series by Heather Long. The title seems to be missing a question mark after "Retreat", otherwise it looks as if there's a place called "Retreat Hell". Hahaha!
This was a pretty good story involving Jasmine and best friends Zach and Logan. Zach wishes he could bring the "old" Logan back, the one before the scars and self-doubt took over, and he decides to take drastic measures to do so--by signing up for a threesome. Their one night together is filled with hopes from each one: for Jasmine to fulfill her fantasy of a ménage and be desired as the woman that she is, for Zach to see Logan smile again and have more faith in himself, and for Logan to experience physical desire and realize that he is more than just his injuries and scars.
Personally, I felt more of a connection with the characters from the first book in the series, "Once Her Man, Always Her Man". I did like the transformation in Logan as the story went on but was a little hesitant to believe that the change in him occurred simply because of one night of lots of sex with Jasmine and Zach.

Jazz has been the kick ass woman, served her country and is about to go off and do it again. Before she goes back out to be one of the boys, she wants to have a night to be a woman. She wants to explore her passions, release the feelings that, as a soldier, she so often ignores to serve.
The two guys in this one are very hot. One, Logan, is injured and doesn't feel like a man anymore and the other is still cocky, sure of himself yet cares enough about his buddy to want to help bring back his mojo. Reluctantly, Logan goes on the date with Zach, not sure that he can heal wounds far deeper than any weapon could cut but he's willing to try for his longtime friend.
When these three characters are brought together...fireworks. Long has yet again managed to create a story that not only delivers the sexual punch that you expect in an erotic romance but an evocative tenderness that sucks a reader in and really leaves them caring about these characters. They seem more like real people who you want to pull into a hug...

Jazz is trying to feel more feminine and decided to have an 1 Night stand with her most desired fantasy. Two men pleasing her and making her feel sexy and the best women in the world. She’s a Marine and is used to deal with men all day.
Logan is trying to make his friend Zach feel alive after an incident with and IED. They had a few threesomes before and now Zach is having problems to go back to his sexual life after years of fisicoteraphy.
I loved how Jazz understood the emotions and feelings going on the date and tried to make things better and funnier. Logan is the best friend ever by helping his friend. Zach really needed this night and everything was perfect and really sexy. Loved.

The story is definitely enjoyable. It is super hot and filled with steamy scenes. Although enjoyable, I find that there seems to be a lack of emotional connection among the characters. It starts with a little brief description about the characters and when they met at the hotel room--BAM--things get heated up immediately and continues from there. *cues lots of actions*
Overall, this is a fast passionate adult romance read, filled with lots and lots of steamy actions. This book is best suited to mature readers who enjoys reading within the genre and is comfortable with multiple partners.

Great short story! Wish it was longer...I wanted to spend more time with Jazz, Logan and Zach!! Ms. Long did a great job with the characters and plot line especially since it was done in so few words.
I found myself hoping that Jazz would get her night of being desired as a woman, that Logan would realize he wasn't impotent after all, and all in a one night stand.
I've read about ten of the 1 Night Stand Series and have really enjoyed them all, they are great when you just have a few minutes to read and need that romance/sizzling sex "fix"!

I enjoyed this quick read. This story can demonstrate how friends can bring you back from something terrible, even if you think they are wrong. I can't say much without giving this book away!

This is the first book I've read by Heather Long. I must say she knows her marines! Like most of the 1 Night Stand stories it left me wanting to know more. Some of the sex scenes were glossed over and I would have liked them explained. It was a menage but not smoking hot. Both of the men were more developed than Jazz and it was Jazz's story which made me buy the book in the first place. Overall it was an enjoyable short read but it could have been better.

What I really liked about this one was that all of these people didn't expect much from their one night, but wanted to be someone they weren't. I loved that they were able to connect more than expected, loved that Jasmine didn't see wounded Logan, only Logan, and that Zach got his friend back. I would love to see what the next leave is like!

With Logan closed off emotionally and physically, Zach doing his best to get his best friend living again, and Jazz needing to be desired as a woman – they completed each other in a way that was emotional and sexy. And frickin hot!! The three of them together short-circuited my brain.

Great voice for all 3 characters - compassionate but not maudlin in addressing severely injured soldier finding his groove again, without judgment and with some affection and acceptance. Interesting look at her journey of being a female in the military but also wanting to feel like a girl sometimes. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I really liked this book. The topics touched on where fabulous as well, she really talked about the emotional trama that happens from the injuries. I really think that this could have been expanded a little more, made the story a little longer, but it was still really good.
