Skylla only knows that she has been kidnapped and held prisoner by the foreign invaders and their human allies. And that the world is ending. Or so the humans think. The invaders have made it clear that their arrival is one of hostile intent, and as their takeover spreads, so does the panic across the globe. No one knows how to defeat them, or if it’s even sane to try.

Jet, Skylla’s human captor, is up for the challenge, though. A traitor in Skylla’s eyes, he is working with them. But Jet has his own agenda; one that doesn’t include babysitting Skylla or helping the enemies. And as the human race struggles to keep the invaders from achieving their goal, Jet and Skylla’s paths collide to reveal the truth behind Skylla’s abduction.

The invaders are headed for the water. Jet is headed for the water. But that’s the last place Skylla wants to be. That’s where the future of humanity lies, and where the bridge to their yesterdays was burned. On a mission to take back what is rightfully theirs, Earth’s population is determined to make sure this isn’t the end. But some endings were never theirs to begin with.

During the high of the magical indie author era that swept the nation in 2012, Rachael Wade wrote over a dozen romance and fantasy novels about broken characters with tattered hearts. She has since then retired this pen name, so you won't find her on the socials anymore, but she still welcomes rights inquiries and messages from readers via Goodreads. Today she writes horror and suspense under a different name, though romance subplots still make cameo appearances in all of her stories.

When it was just you and your fight to live, the only thing that mattered was time.

Aside from the Hunger Games Series, I haven’t read very many dystopian novels. However, I couldn't resist this one, especially when it's written by this talented author. I was truly honored to beta read this. Please let me tell you right now, it freaking rocked.

Both the Hero and heroine are strong, badass characters, determined to survive. They both have with undeniable chemistry, and yes, there is romance, but it’s not the focus of the story, so understand that before going into the story.

“Finger on the trigger.”

Earth will never be the same. The alien invaders are here. Each human being is trying to survive and each have a role to play in this new world. Some were born to serve the invaders, while some are rebelling against the takeover.

When we first meet Skylla, her abductor, Jet, holds her captive. The next thing we know, both escape and are on a cross-country mission to San Francisco to rescue Jet’s sister who is at one of the invader’s many training camps.

“Everything about you fucks with my head, Skylla. From the moment I laid eyes on you, I’m distracted and I don’t like it For a minute, I thought it was better if I was as far away from you as possible. I tried…I tried leaving you, just walking away. But I couldn’t because my need to be near you, to protect you is so fucking strong, it knocks the wind out of me. It’s physically impossible for me to walk away from wherever you are. No woman has ever done that to me. It makes me crazy mad, okay?”

Sky doesn’t know why she feels compelled to help Jet, her kidnapper, but he did help her escape. Weird scenario, I know, but Jet and Sky aren’t predictable in any way. Their journey isn’t pretty, especially when there are so many societal changes, along with being chased by the invaders. Along the way, they form a bond. However, Sky’s role in this invasion is more than what she, or anyone else, is to be believed.

I did not have all the answers. I did not know what awaited us on Foundation Zero, or if our race would ever recover from all that we had lost.
But I did know how to shoot a gun.

The whole time I was reading this, I was in awe of what was going on in my head. The imagination and the creativity to create such a world is truly astounding. I can so picture this as a movie; it was non-stop action. Just when you start to form theories and form your own alliances with these characters, the story takes a complete left turn and you’re left in total shock. This is NOT predictable in anyway and it does end in one hell of a cliffhanger (sorry, I had to warn you). If you are a fan of dystopian stories, I suggest you to give this series a try. Looking forward to book two :)

When I started this book I was really excited. I fell in love with Skylla's character almost as soon as the first chapter ended, and was all gun ho Skylla by the end of the second. I couldn't wait to see her in action, and the banter between her and Jet just made me smile.

Unfortunately it was all down hill from there for me. I had a hard time grasping how much time was going by the entire book and it started to rub me the wrong way. It just didn't seem possible to me that two starving, dehydrated, and injured people could move around as fast as the two of them seemed to.

I have to admit I love romance in my book, especially when it isn't the main focal point. But the romance in the book didn't feel believable. Then when the dang love triangle started I got really mad, I kept feeling tricked by Skyllas thoughts. I don't like when characters get wishy washy over things, and I have to admit I really really hate love triangles.

***If you don't want any spoilers I suggest you stop reading this review now.***

Normally I try really hard to not put spoilers in my reviews, but I can't really write what I disliked so much about this book without them.

But what really started to ruin this book for me is when I realize that Skylla never survived on her own. She went straight from her hometown to being with Jet. With the way she was acting when they first met each other I assumed there was a time she was on her own, fighting her own fight and just trying to survive. It made me mad to find out that she knew what was going on in the first place, but didn't do anything but sit around in her hometown practically waiting to get picked up and held prisoner. That everyone in her hometown was doing that. It just didn't seem like something that would really happen.

Then when all the talk about Shepard's was thrown in I was really lost. None of it made sense to me at all, and honestly even at the end I only have a very vague idea of what their purpose really is. And then to top it off seeing how Skylla so easily gave up on Jet ticked me off even more. Maybe it was for a more dramatic effect but it sealed the "I don't like her anymore" deal for me. I had to force myself to read to the end of the book and then was pissed off with the way it ended.

I get really disappointed when I pick up a book and think that its going to be great and by the end want to throw my kindle against a wall because it did nothing but make me mad.

Would I recommend this book? No, by the time the book ended I wanted nothing to do with Skylla or anyone else anymore.

Skylla’s dad made sure she could handle a gun. When the Invaders crash into her home, that skill saves her life but not her parents’. She manages to slip away from the aliens that have taken over earth only to be captured by a human who appears to have sided with them. But Jet Phoenix has his own agenda. Soon, they flee together fighting every step of the way, not least their attraction to each other. But finding answers is more important. What is the aliens’ ultimate goal? Why are they drawn to earth’s water resources? And more specifically, why when they touch Skylla, they instantly release her in awe?

Kale, a young man they stumble upon, leads them to the rebels who have answers but also a plan he wants no part of. Forcing Skylla and Jet to follow him, he reaches the core of the Invaders’ headquarters where they finally come face to face with the truth.

But is that the truth or, apart from their emotional memory, the Invaders can also tamper with their mind?

I was blown away. Sci-fi is not my genre of choice and can rarely keep me deeply involved, but I was drawn by the blurb and the beautiful cover, so I decided to give this book a try. Not only did I not regret it, but I found myself skimming instead of reading to get on with the story. And that wasn't fair to the author as her writing is stellar! This book is a page-turner in every sense of the word. Action-packed, fast-paced but also thought-provoking, it can equally appeal to women who enjoy sci-fi romances and men who opt for a thrilling read. The plot is thick, complex but not confusing. The main character, Skylla, puts Katniss to shame, and Jet is everything you’d expect of a true hero with a noble quest. Of course, there is the indispensable love triangle as Kyle would like nothing more than keep Skylla for himself.

There was nothing amiss in this book. It does end with a cliffhanger though. But in such a glorious way, my jaw dropped!

I seriously recommend Repossession. Even if you don’t enjoy reading about little green men, which in this case are lithe incandescent creatures with jet black pools instead of eye sockets, this ride will be one you won’t forget any time soon.

I started out really liking this book. I couldn't put it down, and loved how Skylla and Jet were together. I liked that there was attraction, but no instant "I'm in love with you" bit.

Honestly I hate any and all love triangles. So when it looked as if one may be starting, that began the decline in enjoyment for me. By the time the whole 7th Shepard stuff came into play and the easiness with which Skylla let go of Jet, I had to force my self to finish the book. And honestly I skimmed a bunch of it. The ending completely killed it for me. I thought for a moment that it would be redeemable and I'd consider reading the next book, but no it went in a direction that completely turned me off to continuing. The fact that Skylla even considered doing what she did (even if she faltered and it was then an accident) was, quite honestly, just grotesque to me. In her consideration alone, she went back on her beliefs and values that she had only moments before been fully behind.

Unfortunately, I will most definitely not be reading the next book, nor do I think I will be recommending this one.

Talk about wishy washy... I was so confused by the end(cliffhanger go figure) I didn't know which side anyone was really on. I liked the idea on the background of this dystopian story. Sad thing is the next book isn't out until 2014 and who knows when book 3 will be out. I will try and keep an open mind and read book 2 and see where it goes.

What I liked: I still have not a single clue as that what is going on with the cover, but it is rather gorgeous, yes? On to the story, I found Repossession to be a quick, entertaining read that kept me on my toes the entire time I read it. I never knew what was going to happen, and some things really did surprise me throughout the story but those moments kept me on my feet and wondering what was going to happen next. That sort of suspense kept me turning the pages as quickly as I could read the words. I rather quite enjoyed the characters, they made some terrible decisions at some points and those decisions did have an impact on the way the story happened. Skylla made some hard choices in the book that I doubt I would have ever wanted to make, and I find her quite brave because of them. Of course she is human and has her faults, and I found her somewhat brash. Especially towards Jet, who of course did kidnap her but never does anything but try to help her as soon as he’s introduced. Kidnapping aside, Jet is a person who is lost and doing all he can to reach his goal which happens to be on the coast, the last place Skylla wants to be now that the Invaders have appeared. I liked the weapons that the Invaders have, they were interesting and fit the way the Invaders seem to be.

What I didn’t like: While the big twist about the Invaders wasn’t too clear ahead of time, there really wasn’t much of a “punch” behind it. Skylla also just seemed like a girl who knew how to defend and take care of herself but apparently she stayed in her town after her parents were killed. It just didn’t make sense. In who’s right mind do you stay in the town you know has been invaded by aliens instead of getting things together and striking it out in the wilderness? It seemed like such common sense to me that you don’t stick around in the town. Plus the romance was very…iffy for me. It happened too fast, and with little conviction. I just didn’t get on board with it.

Overall Review: While this novel has some questionable aspects to it, overall it was a good read with an interesting plot and characters who I followed through the story. We had some rather questionable characters in here as well, ones who turned out to be quite different from the way they originally came off. I enjoyed the writing, it flowed well and made the story interesting as well as provided interesting details about the world Skylla was travelling now that the world had ended.

Recommend?: I do believe this is a book that will be a hit or miss with everyone who reads it; you’ll either like it or you won’t. Some people will likely find themselves questioning about whether they like it as well.

I would like to thank the author for providing me a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Providing such does not sway my review in any way.

Now this is a unique scifi/dystopian novel. The book starts right after the invasion of the town of Morton, where our heroine Skylla lives with her parents, and the action starts up very quickly after that. We are introduced to the Invaders and the author describes them so well I could envision them quickly and smell their stench in my imagination. The invaders reminded me a bit of Skitters from the TNT show Falling Skies. Sky is saved by what she thought was a traitor, but is just really a guy who wants nothing more than to get to the camps and save his sister.

As the story goes on, with the action at a constant, a romance is bound by the unknowing if they will be alive not just the next day, but the next moment. This is where I felt the author strayed a bit and added some graphic sex scenes that just didn't need to be there. I'm not saying to take the sex out of the picture, but innuendos would have served just as well and made the novel acceptable for a wider age range.

I have to say, with the Seven Shepherds, which reminded me of the Sleepers in the rebooted version of Battlestar Galactica, I wasn't surprised by who was the Seventh. I actually had a feeling it was going that way for the majority of the story. I knew something was up and when the info on the shepherds was first talked about, I quickly put it together.

Jett, love that guy. He's not only a hottie in looks and emotions, he's quite frank and upfront. He will let you know how it is and where to put it if you don't like it. Very protective of Sky from the beginning, I was entranced with him from the beginning. By the end, I wanted to scream for him.

Kale...I really can't go too much in to him without giving away a lot. Let's just say, he's a spineless jerk. A wolf in a sheep's clothing.

The ending really took my breath away. It was so not what I was expecting and most authors would not have gone there. Part of me is dumbstruck while another part of me knows what a good move this was for the storyline and I give kuddos to the author.

I recommend this to anyone who wants a different take on aliens, invasions and sleeper agents. The book also dives into a different history of our Earth, the Big Bang Theory totally nose dives along with many other theories. I look forward to reading the next two books in this trilogy and can't wait to see where the author takes us with them.

Maybe it's because of a recent conversation with a coworker, but as I was reading this my mind kept flashing back to The War of the Worlds. The aliens here aren't really anything like those aliens (at least as I remember them--I haven't read it since just before the Tom Cruise movie version came out, so I can't be 100% positive), but that's where my mind kept going nonetheless.

Ms. Wade has created an interesting--and frightening, and at times very confusing--world here. Water-loving aliens have taken over our planet, and humans are being slaughtered, captured, or enslaved/drafted their into service in alarming numbers. They've started at the coasts and worked their way in--Sky had hoped that they'd overlook her tiny, sleepy little southern town, but no luck. Before she realizes what's happening, her family pets have run off, her parents are dead, and she's being held captive in an unknown location.

As the story unfolds, Sky slowly learns that things aren't as they seem...though she's not entirely sure exactly how things really are. What she thinks is real keeps shifting and changing, and she doesn't know who--if anyone--she can truly trust. All she knows for sure is that there is far more to this whole invasion than anyone could have dreamed--and it looks like it may have been inevitable from the beginning.

Honestly, I found a lot of the story to be pretty confusing, and I wasn't entirely sure if it was the book or me (or both!) at fault for it. I ended up with more questions than I think the ending wanted you to be left with (if the whole world is involved, why do all of the Sacred Seven appear to be English-speaking Americans? Why was water such a precious commodity? Did the aliens horde it? I might have missed something there. Where exactly is the place that the Sacred Seven are going to be populating? I could go on and on, but spoilers...)

I'm up in the air about book two. On the one hand, I would like to see how my questions get answered. Plus, I really liked Jet's character. On the other hand, my brain still kind of hurts, so...

I received this book from Xpresso Book Tours in return for a fair and honest review.

There are parts of this story that I absolutely love and other parts that had me shaking my head in sorrow. It starts out strong with the invaders... erm... invading and Skylla distraught at her parents' deaths. Then it skips forward and I wasn't too sure just where we'd gone but I carried on reading and enjoyed the first meeting with Sky and Jet.

This book doesn't pull any punches in certain areas and things happen in this story that I haven't read before (Sky on the train). I won't say anymore as I don't want to spoil it but I was surprised but pleased to read this part. I know pleased will sound wrong for those who have already read it and know what I'm talking about but seriously, put yourself in the same situation. What would you do to save someone's life?

I love how the relationship between Sky and Jet progresses and grows. There is no insta-love in this book which is a BIG plus from me. However, it does have a love triangle which is where it loses points. I just can't be doing with them or with females that can't make up their minds - alien intervention or not!

This is an action packed book and you are never sure which character you can trust. The story flows well but does get a big 'bogged down' with details towards the end. The ending itself came as a bit of a surprise.

On the whole, I really enjoyed this story. Recommended for fans of Dystopian/Science Fiction with a jot of romance thrown in.

I'm not much of a sci-fi reader, but this had a touch of dystopian so it called to me to be read. It's a great book with well described characters. They Are bad asses! LOL

An invasion, one of evil intent. The aliens are trying to take over the World! They are killing humans left and right, some humans were aiding the invaders, while some are fighting. (Could you imagine? Me myself would be hiding in a bunker somewhere!) One of the main characters, Skylla, she is determined to survive! But she has a little delima, she has been abducted and held captive by a guy named Jet (Total alpha). Eventually they both end up escaping and are traveling to San Francisco to save a member of jets family that has been put in one of the aliens training camp.

The Chemistry between Skylla and Jet is crazy, they have a pull towards each other and neither one of them like it, but you can't help something like that. The banter between the two is entertaining and I thought fun.

Skylla doesn't know why she is having these feelings, for her CAPTOR at that! Or why she feels she needs to aid him on his journey to save someone (I don't want to spoil anything so I'm not saying who) but he did help her escape, so maybe she owes it to him.

Sky has a bigger part in this than she or anyone else believed! I recommend you read this and learn their story! It's a rough long journey for them, their story isn't pretty, but it's soo worth reading!

I love to read Rachael Wade's work so when she sent me the ARC copy of Repossession I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I was a little hesitant as Sci-Fi is not a genre I normally read, very few have surpassed my expectations in this genre and Rachael Wade didn't disappoint. I knew just because it was written by her that it was going to awesome, I just wasn't expecting to be completely blown away. The detail in the writing of Repossession was amazing, I loved the way the characters just came to life for me. I would love to keep Jet as my personal Book Boyfriend but don't think Rachael or Skylla would like that too well. There was so much action and drama through out the whole story never dull, I love when I story captivates me straight from the start, there was none of that awkward lets get through the first few chapters before really getting to the plot or main point of whats going on. I didn't see the twist that came towards the end and I hated what the invaders did to Skylla and Jet's relationship. The cliffhanger caught me off guard and I couldn't help but be left with a book high needing more of my book fix. I can't wait to see what the rest of the series has in store, knowing Rachael it's bound to be epic!

5 stars, 5 stars, 5 brilliant stars!

I read "Preservation" by this author a long time ago and I liked it. I didn't keep up with the series however, as I felt it really came to a close in a stand alone. I thought it was good and that was it. I didn't talk about it. I didn't re-read it. I can't remember but I don't think I even took the time to review it. This book, this book was different. I have now stayed up to the middle of the night just so I could finish it! It was AMAZING!!! A term I don't use very often or lightly. Being science fiction, I wasn't sure I was going to be all that thrilled. I have a hard time believing things people believe on an everyday basis, so being able to keep me immersed in a sci-fi, the author had to do something right.

This book had it all, action, suspense, romance, intrigue, it was wonderful! My heart was breaking, I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, ah! It's been a long time since I've felt that way about a book. It had great characters, it was well thought out, it was simple: the book's just damn good!

5 amazing stars! I can't wait for the next book. My only regret is that I read the first one right now because that leaves me waiting all the way until 2014!

DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS BOOK!!!!

****I WON THIS BOOK IN A GOODREADS GIVEAWAY****

Repossession is book one in The Keepers trilogy. I am be looking forward to books two and three.

Skylla's parents are dead, and she wakes up in a type of prison. Our planet (though not really ours to begin with) has been taken over by Intruders (aliens). The people that they don;t kill are put to work for them, or sent to training facilities. Skylla's captor and guard (Jet, a traitor in Skylla's eyes) helps her to escape, and so they start their journey to find his younger sister.

Survivors hang out in places called Black Holes, where you can trade items for things we take for granted (like water). This is also where you can find out information. Skylla and Jet meet Kale, after they escape from a group of Intruders, and he tells them about a rebel group who has plans to take out the Invaders. But Kale is hiding something, and Jet doesn't trust him (he also wants Skylla...who at this point is pretty much with Jet). The whole truth comes out when they arrive at the Invader's headquarters.

I enjoyed this book. It was a new spin on dystopian novels. The world has still gone to hell, but at least humans weren't fully to blame this time.

In the beginning I really enjoyed this book: the first chapter had me hooked. The aliens and main characters are interesting and unique, the Invader universe complete with many details. I enjoyed this book, but felt there was just a little too much that was attempted to be included all at once. The first half felt like a reasonable pace (though Skylla and Jet are apparently insanely good runners/hikers), but the second half I struggled to keep up with the quick changes and abrupt events.

Once Kale was introduced, the book felt like a mash up between “The Host” meets “Twilight” meets “Hunger Games” to me. I am not saying that in a bad way; just that it became less of my cup of tea as it were. Skylla became more indecisive and dependent on the guys and lets herself be pulled in one direction and then the next. To avoid spoilers, I’ll leave it at that. I think huge fans of Twilight/Bella might enjoy this book, but I am undecided as to whether I’ll continue the series.

Warning: Contains sexual content, violence and references to sexual abuse.

Who should read it? Fans of Twilight looking for a different twist; such as aliens and saving the world.

Repossession is one hell of a thrill ride. Earth is under attack and Skylla’s on the run – finger on the trigger.

Reading Repossession is one of those cinematic experiences only certain authors know how to pull off, among them: Rachael Wade! Part Terminator, part Resident Evil, part Alien with nail biting suspense around every bend. Poor Skylla never gets a chance to rest. Even when she does she’s discovering new things about herself or going after the guy...end of the world style. Yeah, that’s epic hot!

I fell in love with Skylla’s voice from page one. I liked that small insight into her mind before the planet went to hell. A bit of girl bonding time. I totally got her comment about loneliness being surrounded by hundreds of people and not knowing if even one of them really knew you existed. And she’s an animal lover who would risk her own life to release critters from cages as the world’s ending. Heroine with a capital H.

Then there’s Jet – a hero worth loving and, ahem, lusting after.

There are some rough scenes that aren’t for the faint of heart, but what can you expect when it’s the end of the world?

I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into with reading Repossession having only read her contemporary works, but let me tell you. I am so glad that I did! My only issues at all were that the sex scenes didn’t seem to fit to me. And I ended up with this off the wall feeling that the book should have started about 3/4’s of the way through, told the rest of it in flashbacks and then picked up for the ending. Odd I know, but the thought of it just stuck in my head for some reason.

I really like that the story focuses a bit on some of the grittier and realistic (says the guy reading an alien invasion book) aspects of surviving when the world has gone to pot. Such as bartering for basic necessities such as even a place to lay down or the basic things we take for granted.

Poor Skylla better hang on for dear life because this story has more twists than a tornado! Full of action, romance, and suspense. This is one Sci-fi series you’re not going to want to miss. And my best advice is to make sure a pillow is under your chin when you get to the ending, because this cliffhanger will have your jaw on the floor!

I liked this book a lot the ending upset me mainly because there was a damn cliffhanger and I didn't get what I was hoping for to happen. Jet he made the book for me, "yes, I'm a mutant alien creature here to take you aboard the Mother Ship. I'm packing heat." He kept me entertained through out the book, "well, what you want and what's actually going to happen are two very different realities." He's honest, "I couldn't, because my need to be near you, to protect you, is so effing strong, it knocks the wind out of me. It's physically impossible for me to walk away from wherever you are. No woman has ever done that to me. It makes me crazy made, okay?" Sky that girl as Jet would say is full of piss and vinegar, "did you not just see me on that screen? I can't stand the thought of an animal suffering, let alone a human being. Now, I'd like to speak to him. Please." I'm so ready for the next one in the series!

In this first book of The Keepers Trilogy, we meet Skylla Warden, a small town girl who doesn't exactly know her place in the world. Suddenly, the Earth is being taken over by the Invaders and everything that she knows is being turned upside down. She meets Jet, a sexy Collector gone rogue, and Kale along her way. They both want different things from her, and she is torn between them. Her journey is a crazy, wild ride of fighting to survive, loving, and figuring out what is the right thing to do.

The writing in this book is amazing. It is a complex story but it is not hard to read or understand. The story is a unique twist and a blend of genres that I love. The action is non-stop and mind blowing and there is even some spicy romance thrown in. This is the first book for me of Rachael Wade's and I don't know how I hadn't discovered her sooner. I will be impatiently waiting for the next book.

I'm not a huge fan of the Dystopia genre of books, but this book, the first in the Keepers Trilogy, was wonderful! It had all the little pieces that I love in a book: drama, a little angst, an outside antagonist, and love. All of those pieces come together to make up a beautifully written story. I will not include any other parts of the story to abstain from including spoilers, but I will say this book ends in a huge cliffhanger that left me with a book hangover! IT WILL BE TORTURE TO WAIT! But Rachael will write as fast as she can and I know the reward will be worth the wait! Excellent book that deserves the 5 stars!

*I received this book as a goodreads firstreads*

Repossession follows the story of Skylla who has been kidnapped and held prisoner by the invaders. She is being held captive by a human, whom she thinks is a traitor, but turns out to have an agenda of his own. Together, the two of them escape and are on the run and in the fight for their lives to try and survive......

Repossession is a fast paced and action packed dystopian novel with some spicy romance thrown into the mix. Things are definitely not what they seem and you are kept guessing right up to the end. And speaking of the end, it ends on one heck of a cliffhanger!

This book will have you turned about trying to decide who to trust. Although Skylla’s fate is not exactly a suprise, I still found this to be a real page turner.

The story is well written, and the characters are engaging and different. This is not a genre I read very often, but I can thoroughly recommend this to you.

One thing….if you don’t like cliffhangers – you’re going to be a bit upset….

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This started off really strong for me but then lost it. I liked the relationship between Skylla and Jet but I feel like there weren't enough details in the rest of the story. It was entertaining but I don't really have any desire to read anymore.
