One of Mariah Stewart's earlier novels and For a romance, this was wonderful!

The blurb on the back of the book says that India Devlin returned to her hometown when her brother was found murdered on the steps of the lighthouse on their family property. She wants to uncover who killed Ry. Her brother's friend, Nick Enright, offers to help her investigation. Soon they are undeniably drawn to each other.
The blurb sounded like an interesting romantic suspense story. This is actually a very slow moving contemporary romance. I only finished 100 pages before giving up on it. India really didn't seem all that interested in finding out who killed her brother. She hasn't gone to the police about it. She just confides her theories to Nick. Much of the story is about Ry's six-year-old step-daughter and who will take care of her. I was in no doubt that India would volunteer for the job. My rating: 1 Star.
Enright: Book 1 Devlin's Light - Nick Enright and Book 2 Wonderful You - Zoey Enright and Ben Pierce Book 3 Moon Dance - Georgia Enright and Matthew Bishop
A little family drama, a little mystery, and a lot more romance. The plot is good and some of the characters are very interesting. Tip to writers: don't add random recipes at the end of chapters. If it doesn't add to the story, it shouldn't be in the novel.
I love her family sagas, read Wonder You, the sequel first and liked it better, I think the characters and plot worked a little better than Devlin's Light.
This is the first book in the Enright Series. A series about the three Enright siblings, Nick, Zoey and Georgia. This is Nick's story.
India Devlin has left her childhood home to pursue her passion. She's an assistant district attorney in Paloma, Pennsylvania. She has made it her life's work to put away as many of the bad guys as she can. Only returning home to Devlin's Light for short visits.
Until her brother, Ry is found murdered at the base of the stairs in the lighthouse that the town is named after. Ry was found by his best friend Nick Enright.
Nick is determined to find out what happened to Ry. He offers his assistance to India. Nick was the only one who heard Ry's mysterious last words. Together they start to put together what happened on the night that Ry was lured out to the lighthouse, and who might be behind the murder. Nick also doesn't mind spending as much time with the lovely India as he can. He has been attracted to her since the very first time he saw her.
To complicate matters, Ry has left behind his six year old step daughter, Corri. Corri's mother, Ry's wife was killed two years earlier in a boating accident. Now the child is left alone. Leaving India with a choice, ignore the child's need and continue on with her demanding career three hours away from Corri, and Nick. Or rethink the direction her life should be heading. Coming home for India means facing a demon she left behind years ago.
I like this series. This book started out a bit slow. It takes a long time to establish the story and the characters. It picks up the pace when they start getting into the mystery aspect. It was a nice love story, with an unexpected twist thrown in at the end.
Devlin's Light begins with Indiana Devlin, a prosecutor in Paloma, returning home to Devlin for her brother Ryan's funeral. His death was sadly caused by murder, and his demise left his stepdaughter, Corri, alone. Alongside her Aunt August, boyfriend Nick and little Corri, Indiana must determine whether to return to Devlin permanently or to continue her life of solitude and long working hours in Paloma.
The book was good, sometimes reading more like a mystery with some romance and reading at other times like a romance with some mystery. Not a big fan of mystery, which is why I gave the book 3 stars out of 5. Not anything wrong with the book, I'm just not a fan of the genre. Truth be told, I picked it up because I really enjoyed Mariah Stewart's Chesapeake Diaries series.
3.5 stars. The story begins at a funeral for India Devlin's brother who died at the foot of the steps of the old lighthouse at Delaware Bay. India is a prosecutor who wants to be sure her brother's adopted daughter is taken care of. India meets her brother's best friend Nick and must decide whether to come back to Devlin's Light permanently.
This book read slowly but it was not boring. Even though India's brother was murdered, the book isn't a murder mystery but more of a heartwarming tale and romance.
If you like romance, thrill, murder, mystery, but no explicit scenes, this is the book for you!
I enjoyed this book mainly because it was so captivating. The story of such a devoted and headstrong young woman who has to find time in her life for her niece who has seen to much death in her life is touching. You can't help but be swept away by this story. A fantastic read for any who are looking.
Two families that are almost unbelievable in their being nice to each other, their love of their community. It was nice reading about them, their love for life at an ocean bay shore. Adding the mystery of her brother's murder added to the story and the resulting ending was good. Nick was such a wonderful guy and even India's drive to help people was inspiring. More a story about loving being together than sexy read. Liked the aunt August with her quotes about life with recipes included.
Great story of the Enright family! As India searches for her brother's killer, she falls in love with her brother's best friend, Nick. Her family wants her to move back home to help raise Corri, her brother's adopted child, but she fights to keep her life in both the city and the beach. As she grows to love Corridor, as well as Nick, India realizes that all her answers lie near the place she grew up.
I liked this book, it goes from a mystery to a love story and then back to some more intrigue. Only bad portion, right before the end of the book, I was like goodness this is long and there has not been anymore excitment and then all the sudden it is over. I will definately read more of Mariah Stewart. :)
Not as good as some of her others, but still very intricate and thorough characters. And you can't help but fall in love with Corri and hope that everyone will make good decisions. I was cautious about all "good" characters from the beginning, but they were good and I could have lived them more if I had trusted that. Only bad characters showed themselves for how bad they could really be...
This was a great book! Them main character is ambitious but loyal to family ties and responsibility. There is a perfect blend of mystery and romance in the story that keeps you reading ahead. I would definitely read this book again!
While I expected more thriller than romance, it was still a good book. I kept expecting more on the murder and less on every day events, but that just didn't happen. A good read if you want a romance with a little murder tossed in on the side. But if your looking for a thriller - this isn't it.
This book was a little slow to get into. I patiently kept reading and was rewarded by a good story. There is a lot about the area that made the story slower at times but the characters and mystery made up for it. This a good read but remember to plan time to get through the slower chapters.
I was kind of expecting a murder mystery with some romance thrown in....but it was more like a book about nature, bird species, and baking with a very slow moving and uninspiring romance and there just happened to be a dead guy that they were sad about sometimes.
This book was terrible. I read it for the State challenge and was glad to finish. I would not have finished if it were not for the challenge. It was poorly written and plotted.
Delightful story lots to know about the Delaware Bay. A little romance tastefully done, a little mystery, also well done. First time with this author and I will read her again.
