Jack Greene loathes author bios, thinking they ruin the mystery. But if you must, picture a handsome twenty-something insomniac: junior partner in a law firm by day, guitarist in a punk band by night. He roams the streets on his Ducati when he can't sleep, gathering material for his books, and watches the sun come up over West Hollywood as he types away at his laptop. Peace only comes when he writes the words "the end".

Jack writes about men who fuck, and love, other men. Men who, like all men, sometimes don't behave like they should.

This is a short, fun variation on the legend of Zeus and Ganymede. This time, Zeus is a very humanoid alien from space and Ganymede is a rock star. The slightly humorous tone of the retold tale made me smile. Hera makes an appearance as second-in-command of the spaceship, and even Eros is part of the cast.

Ganymede may be a successful rock star, but he isn’t happy. His manager told him not to reveal he’s gay, and this makes Ganymede very lonely. When his life is saved by Zeus he is extremely grateful, as well as totally taken by the “godlike” body of the alien.

Zeus is in command – in every respect. Even though it is a spaceship this time, not Mount Olympus, the effect is the same. Even the personalities of the “gods” are the same as in the Greek mythology. I liked the references to Zeus’s species being an old one and having “supervised” human development – keeping the basic structure of the old legends intact.

While the plot is simple and stays true to the original story, the execution made me smile. Zeus and Ganymede are very hot together, and if you’re looking for a brief, fun retelling of an old myth, then you will probably like this short story.

Once a rock star, always a rock star? Not if Zeus has his way.

I love a Jack Greene story. Why? They're short, quick, and so sexy. In just a few words, Greene conveys a slew of emotions and has me right in my seat needing to know more. I liked the character and the way they ended up in the same room.

Zeus and the other gods are not just gods, they are there to observe the humans. Keep them safe but don't get involved. It's a novel idea. The gods aren't the gods in the usual trope in this short and it's a good thing. I like the change. Ganymede, the rock star, was easy to relate to. He feels like he's living in a fishbowl. He wants to be himself and love who he wants. But there's a few issues. He carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. When he and Zeus come together...whew! Hot.

My favorite character was Eros. Now there's a guy I want to see a story for. Heck, I wanted to see him jump in the fracas with Zeus and Ganymede. Talk about hot. That would've been so good. I liked the ending, just throwing in my two cents.

If you want a hot read that's quick and simple, then this might be just the book for you.

Mr. Greene has put a new, fun spin on the old story of Zeus and Ganymede in this short story. The story takes place on modern day Earth where Ganymede is a rock star. He's very unhappy because his manager, Henry, wants him to stay in the closet so that his music will sell. Zeus is the commander of a space ship who is trying to work his way up the chain of command. Zeus takes an instant lusty interest in the rock star when he spots Ganymede naked on the beach while monitoring Earth from his ship. I enjoyed the imaginatine way Mr. Greene kept the myth intact while modernizing it. Hera was funny as Zeus's bitchy second in command and Eros had a small part as his horny pilot. The quirky short flowed well and the change in the status of the characters was inspired. I heartily recommend this fun read to anyone familiar with the old myth.
