Rate this book
Superstition abounds where the moon is concerned. It can bring love, luck, madness, misfortune, pleasure, and pain. Of all the myths and legends, superstitions and old wives tales, no lunar legend is as well known as those surrounding the wolves...

Moon Dogs by Erica Kealey—FBI Agent Grant has had enough of his partner Cary's running and hiding. He knows what he saw, he's okay with what he saw. Now all he has to do is convince Cary of that.

The Wolf and the Moon by Kayla Bain-Vrba—Dag's life is an endless series of battles, as he fights Game after Game for the amusement of others, his interest in life lost when he killed his own lover. But then, in the middle of a Game, he encounters a familiar face ...

A Kind of Remedy by Ashley Shaw—Enticed by gold to participate in an experiment, Nicolaus finds himself regretting it almost immediately. When he comes out of it unscathed, he considers himself lucky. Then the headaches begin ...

The Were Curse by Sasha L. Miller—When Innot is abruptly escorted to the royal palace he expects nothing good to come of it. But even his worst imaginings did not involve a journal stolen from him years ago, and incomplete spell cast upon the crown prince.

Runaway Prince by May Ridge—On the run from his family and a life he hates, Astin reluctantly stops to rest at a trashy motel for the night. The very last thing he expects is Delaney, a bold, beautiful rentboy—and Astin's mate.

The Wolf's Moor by Lupin Drake—Seamus enjoys his life as a bartender in a Scottish town; it's a far better life than the one he led two hundred years ago. The only shadows in his life are the curse that afflicts him and a handsome, determined investigator.

Moonwitch by M.J. Willow—Prince Athanes arrives in Kamare to solve the mystery of several soldiers attacked by wolves. But the more he learns of the attacks, the more he realizes there is far more going on than a simple matter of hunger and sickness ...

Coming Home by Elizah J. Davis—With his parents dead, Caleb is alone in the world. Having no reason to stay, and nowhere to go, he wanders aimlessly around the country. Then, one night, he turns into a wolf, and the most frightening thing about it is that it doesn't feel strange at all ...

The Werewolf of Grey Lake Inn by Megan Derr—Astor is good at telling it like it is, a trait that annoys everyone who knows him, but makes his ghost debunking books a raging success. But even he isn't right about everything, a fact made clear when a simple research trip proves to be anything but.

Moon Dogs by Erica Kealey – 2.75 stars: Not bad, but nothing spectacular either.

The Wolf and the Moon by Kayla Bain-Vrba – 2 stars: No werewolves, but this story reminded me of the Hunger Games. O.o

A Kind of Remedy by Ashley Shaw – 2.75 stars: I wanted to read more about the pack. :(

The Were Curse by Sasha L. Miller – 3.75 stars: Finally a story I liked! Dominic was one of my favorite side characters and I wanted to know more about him!

Runaway Prince by May Ridge – 2.5 stars: A whore and a prince. It was okay, but I didn’t like it.

The Wolf’s Moor by Lupin Drake – 3.5 stars: I loved the Scottish dialect! (I hope it was Scottish…)

Moonwitch by M. J. Willow – 4.5 stars: Who is this author? I absolutely loved Moonwitch! It was my favorite story of this anthology!

Coming Home by Elizah J. Davis – 2.75 - 3 stars: The beginning was a little bit confusing but in the end it all made sense. Sweet story.

The Werewolf of Grey Lake Inn by Megan Derr – 3.5 stars: a sweet fantasy story about vampires and werewolves. Loved Astor! But I wanted to read a little bit more about the werewolves.

Nine stories in total.
5 great stories.
1 that was well written but not for me.
3 that I struggled to finish.

My favourites:

Moon Dogs by Erica Kealey - 4 stars. Felt like a Sterek AU. This is not a bad thing.
The Were Curse by Sasha L. Miller - 4.5 stars. Loved this one. A very different take on the standard werewolf story.
Moonwitch by M.J. Willow - 4 stars. High on world building, low on romance. Had the romance been more prominent this would have been a 5 star read.
Coming Home by Elizah J. Davis - 4 stars. Great story, well written. Would have been happy if it had been slightly longer to cover more ground when they returned home.
The Werewolf of Grey Lake Inn by Megan Derr - 4 stars. I would have loved this to have been a novel. This story was ripe for UST but only coming into it at the end meant we were robbed of that chance. Still a good story but could have been great.

This book was a collection of novellas (Nine stories in all). A couple stories were really great, and a couple were really bad. Most of them were in the middle range. Overall, I would give this novella a 3.5 rating because the book was pretty solid overall.

Moon Dogs by Erica Kealey (4-stars)
This story featured two detectives Cary and Grant. After an attack that would have killed an average man, Cary disappeared from the hospital. His partner, Grant, went to find Cary in order to see if he was okay and also declare his true feelings to Cary. When Grant located Cary, Cary was nonchalant and asked Grant to leave him alone. Upset and humiliated, Grant left, only to be kidnapped by a werewolf clan after Cary. After Grant escapes, he reunites with Cary who confesses a secret that has kept Cary from being who he truly is. This story was short and sweet. I liked the law enforcement background and the whole partner aspect to their relationship.

The Wolf and the Moon by Kayla Bain-Vrba (3-stars)
This story featured a gladiator themed war game with two star-crossed lovers, Dag and Myka. They met and fell in love, but were thrust into the war game and forced to fight for survival. This one was very reminiscent of the Hunger games, with the same kind of emotional anguish. This short dystopian was sad, but the end was good.

A Kind of Remedy by Ashley Shaw (2.5 stars)
This story featured a young man, Nicolaus Andren, who needed money and agreed to one of those pharmaceutical experiments for money. However, it turns out the scientist have been lying about the procedure. They were creating werewolves in the lab. Nicolaus escapes and tries to find the cure to restore him back to his human only form. His quest leads to him to discover others like him and a new way of life. I didn’t enjoy this story at all. It was a bit contrived and it just didn’t engage me at all. The lack of originality made it difficult to get through.

The Were Cure by Sasha L. Miller (3.5-stars)
This story featured Innot Grant, a wizard, who was summoned to the royal palace because the princes were cursed. According to the King, the curse will turn his sons into werewolves. He demanded Innot find out who placed the curse on his sons and reverse it. It was an okay read. The characters were enjoyable.

Runaway Prince by May Ridge (3.5-stars)
This story featured a prince, Astin Noelle du Pris, who constantly ran away from his responsibilities and a male escort, Delaney Day, who was always looking for a mark. It seemed that Noelle didn’t have good coping skills, and the expectation of being the next king made him anxious. Delaney, on the other hand, hid his feelings behind sarcasm and quips. As Noelle ran from family, Delaney was looking for something to belong to. In each other, they found the missing piece that strengthened them.

The Wolf’s Moor by Lupin Drake (2.5 stars)
This story featured two siblings that were the last of their family that had been cursed by the Sidhe to turn into werewolves. Seamus O’Malley had accepted his dual nature, but his sister Ethne hated the curse. The only way to break the curse is to kill the O’Connor family and descendants, because they were the enemies of the Sidhe, but Seamus cannot bear to murder the last descendant. His sister, on the other hand, insists on freeing them, thus began the battle between the siblings. This story wasn’t enjoyable as many people died unnecessarily and everyone was keeping some secret about who they truly were.

Moonwitch by M.J. Willow (3 stars)
This story featured Athenas, a prince, who came over to investigate strange activities that no one could account for. The king’s soldiers were being turned into wolves and no one knew why and who was responsible. This one was more of a paranormal mystery on a navy ship, and the investigation lead to some interesting revelations.

Coming Home by Elizah J. Davis (4.5 stars)
This story was my favorite. It featured a werewolf named Caleb, who escaped an attack on his family when he was young. He was adopted by humans and basically had to figure out his dual nature by himself (no one guiding him). One day at a hotel, he is found by a man named Hunter, who claims that Caleb’s family has been searching him for him for the past 20 years. Hunter and Caleb’s chemistry was smoldering. There was just something that felt so right about these two werewolves. I enjoyed this short story from the minute they met to the last word on the page. The connection with the family, the whole reunion was so touching. Great read! This one was well paced, very engaging and thorough satisfying.

The Werewolf of Grey Lake Inn by Megan Derr (3.5-stars)
This story featured a vampire Astor and his agent, Tennyson, who were snowed in at an inn, where Astor was investigating some paranormal activity. These two were victims of a lack of communication, as well as fear. Being trapped at the inn allowed them to talk and get to know each other much better.

3.5 stars overall but that's a bit unfair since some of stores were amazing. Loved that I got 9 separate stories in it.

Moon Dogs - 4.5 stars. (werewolf) My favorite of the bunch though I think the shortest. Others may not agree but it was like Erica Kealey heard all the issues I have with an MC and made Grant perfect. The end a little fanciful but screw it, I liked it. I really wanted to the full novel on what happened to the point they meet in this story.

The Wolf and the Moon. (alternate universe). 3.5 stars. I could not decide if I liked Dag or not, a fighter both heartless and full of heart. Some confusing POV changes forced me to drop the rating a bit but overall I enjoyed the story.

A Kind of Remedy (werewolf) 3 stars. This one starts with a bang but fizzles a bit at the end. The romance is a little bland and I wished the author had zinged up the angst somewhere along the line but still a pretty good story.

The Were Curse (werewolf, magic) 4 stars. This one kept wondering for most of the story, and in a good way. It contains much discussion of magic but I never found myself bored. I’d love to see Innot in future stories, working on mysteries like a Sherlock Holmes.

Runaway Prince (werewolf) 2 stars. A prince runs away and becomes fascinated with a rent boy. I found this dull and frustrating as the poor little rich prince wasn’t sympathetic and the rent boy continued servicing clients the whole time. The paranormal aspect was very minor and if you removed it entirely, it wouldn’t have changed the story.

The Wolf’s Moor (werewolf) 2.5 stars. Very slow going in the beginning. The back story is great and contains a fabulous villainess, but there is no romance but all of a sudden Insta Love.

Moonwitch (werewolf) 3.5 stars. Good story, told in Athanes POV only. He’s a likeable character and the story interesting though a little cursory in some areas.

Coming Home (werewolf) 1.5 stars. I couldn’t get into this. I tried, then skimmed, then gave up.

The Werewolf of Grey Lake Inn (werewolf, vampire) 3.5 stars. I am continually amazed by Megan Derr who takes traditional paranormal characters and makes them different then you expect. She does the same thing here. The story isn’t deep by any means but I enjoyed Astor and Tennyson.

Moon Dogs by Erica Keale There were aspects in the story I really liked. I do wish there was more character and world building but it is an anthology so its to expected that there was a minimum of both. I found it hard to believe that Grant "is alpha-potential"....he is bad@ss in the story though but just a bit over dramatic with his emotions.

The Wolf and the Moon by Kayla Bain-Vrba Has a bit of a Battle Royale/The Hunger Games/The Most Dangerous Game feel to it. It's not exactly my cup of tea but if the previous titles mentioned appeal to you then so will this one.

A Kind of Remedy by Ashley Shaw Very nicely done. I enjoyed the story and the unrequited feelings Nicolaus had for Hadrian. It almost had me on my edge of my seat waiting for Nicolaus and Hadrian to come together.

The Were Curse by Sasha L. Miller Slow building romance or any sense that the two MC's will get together. At the start and a little after I wasn't even sure who Innot's love interest would be although I had an inkling who it could be. Nonetheless, the story was still interesting but I wish there was more details given on the hierarchy
of magic users.

Runaway Prince by May Ridge I liked it quite a bit until I got to the part where Astin meets up with Delaney again on his home turf. There was a woe is me factor from both characters that had me rolling my eyes.

The Wolf's Moor by Lupin Drake Seamus was a very likable character. The banter between Weylyn and Seamus was amusing and the story itself was quite intriguing.

Moonwitch by M.J. Willow It had a bit The Island of Dr. Moreau feel to it. It's quite slow the first half of the story but after that it picks up a bit. It wasn't exactly the type of story I liked to read but I did manage to finish it.

Coming Home by Elizah J. Davis I enjoyed this one immensely.

The Werewolf of Grey Lake Inn by Megan Derr A vampire/werewolf love story. Well who doesn't like to read such stories, right?

There are editing hiccups in every story but by now I think I'm used to seeing it. The anthology was useful in scratching my itch for shifter/werewolf stories.

I never know how to rate anthologies. I enjoyed all the stories to some extent.

Moon Dogs Grant and Cary are an interesting mix. I did think the "problem" in the story was a little unrealistic but the writing was good and I enjoyed the characters. 3.5

The Wolf and the Moon This was an interesting book that is based on the idea of Blood Games. We never really see the reasons for the MC's separation or why they were allowed to be back together. I LOVED the characters though and would enjoy seeing more of them. 4.5

A Kind of Remedy I never really got into this one. It was an ok storyline but I just didn't connect with the characters. 2.5

The Were Curse Not much romance in this one but a cute story. I think it was way too short and lost a lot to that fact. 3

Runaway Prince A cute story along the lines of Pretty Woman. It wasn't an original story but the characters were cute. 3

The Wolf's Moor Nice story with an immortal wolf shifter that was cursed as a child. It seems strange that the rest of the family just went straight to killing to break the curse. 3

Moonwitch Liked the story. It was different and interesting. I wish I could read a longer version of it. 4

Coming Home Interesting story but again too short to really make a connection with the kind of storyline it was. 3

The Werewolf of Grey Lake Inn The characters didn't really interest me. I just didn't have the emotion to be one way or another about them. 3

I have usually loved LT3 presses anthologies and found good quality stories in them. This time I was unfortunately disappointed and found half the stories to be boring or outright stupid. Most of the good ones were at the end of the anthology so at least if ended with a good note.

What I did love were Sasha L. Millers nice little fantasy piece about magic and curses.
Moonwitch by M.J. Willow, another fantasy story about missing soldiers, curses and a stubborn prince who hates secrets.
Coming home by Elizah J. Davis is a good paranormal story where young man is left feeling adrift after his adoptive parents die and leaves for a long road trip to see if he does belong to somewhere. And finding his real family and love of his childhood. Very cute.
And finally there was a story by Megan Derr with vampires and crazed werewolves in a haunted hotel.

I really enjoyed all the stories in this anthology. Many of them I would read again and some were truly brilliant. I love werewolves, and all the different myths surrounding them, and this anthology incorporated a lot of that. Here we have the werewolf as the classic symbol of the blurred line between right and wrong, between man and wolf, and as a more contemporary symbol of identity, love and family ties. This anthology has it all: Experiments gone wrong, a witch's curse, the love and loss of the pack. Whilst not all the stories will be to everyone's tastes, there really is something for everyone, and it's well worth a read.

Not going to rate this. The few stories I read all the way through were quite good. I just couldn't get through the vast majority of them--consent issues, wholly unlikeable characters, or just plain bad writing. But everyone has different tastes, and I'm sure every one of the stories I threw up my hands at in frustration has its champion somewhere.

I don't love anthologies with this many stories. Some were five some were two and one was just awful. So three stars overall.
