Maryn Sinclair is a New England native living in the South who loves creating characters who murder, love, hate, and connive, but mostly love. She has lived in Italy and pursued a few careers, all having to do with the arts. Writing took her by storm, and she hasn’t stopped. Her novels are erotic, but she hopes readers find that they’re more than about sex, with contemporary characters who are confident, insecure, damaged, recovering, loyal, duplicitous, intriguing, heartbreaking, and every other conflicting adjective known to Roget, hooking readers from the beginning and turning pages until the end. If they do, she says, “I’ve done my job, and will keep writing and loving every minute.”

It was enjoyable. Sexy at times. This is another book that has a story-within-a-story... I wonder why so many authors are doing that these days? Or maybe it's not "so many", but I've just read several, lol. Laura is a small bookshop owner, and she's been reading the erotica, so at the beginning, she's reading her book -- and we get to read along with her. And at different points in the book, we get more excerpts. In the beginning it was a little jarring, but maybe that's because I didn't expect it. But it did play into the story.

Laura's son and his girlfriend have gotten pregnant, and since they planned on marrying anyway, they've decided to just do it now, right after they're graduating college. Literally... the day after graduation. And her son's future father-in-law happens to be in town to discuss business with his publisher, so it's a perfect time for them to meet. And they REALLY hit it off. I was a little stunned with how fast everything happened, but they are both adults with grown children... they can make their own decisions. There was this whole "this is no strings, just sex, but I'm feeling something more, and I'm not sure if he/she is" thing. And there wasn't a whole lot of conflict, in my opinion, but it was still a pleasant story. Ultimately it was sweet -- two people who never expected to find someone else to truly love find each other through unusual circumstances. I liked the back-and-forth between Laura and Blake over who was in control. Kept each of them on their toes.

I received this book from the publisher and could not put it down! It was a spicy read that was very well written and I loved it! If you loved 50 Shades, you need to read this one!

This book was well written and a blast to read. I loved the way Maryn takes you into a historical erotic romance and then you are put into contemporary life with the main character. Great style and it kept me turning the pages to find out what this bookseller who loves erotica novels is going to experience.

DARK SIDE NIGHT is a story about a secrets, fantasies, love and mystery. Sinclair’s protagonist Laura Holden is an avid reader of romance novels. Laura has a secret fantasy of becoming Giselle, an erotic character in novels of a popular author of erotic romance novels. The author shares Laura’s backstory including upcoming plans for her son’s wedding. Sinclair introduces her readers to Professor Blake Conover, who is the father of her future daughter-in-law. Laura and Blake develop an explosive connection. The author describes how Laura’s desires have come to life each time Blake explores fulfilling their mutual fantasies of erotic adventures.

Sinclair takes her readers on a behind the scenes look at an upscale sex-club.called the Dark Side. She continues increasing the pace of the storyline bringing Laura and Blake closer together. The author unveils some of Blake’s secrets and explains why he worries about Laura’s reaction. She adds twists to the storyline that will either build the bond between Laura and Blake or tear them apart. DARK SIDE NIGHT is well written and Sinclair’s characters come to life at the turn of each page. Readers are given a light-hearted look at what goes on behind closed doors. An enjoyable read earning a 5-star ranking.

I loved them both finding love again by spicing things up but not becoming totally different people. It's cool too that they're a bit older and the kids were open to the idea so long as they were happy.
