This book will remain on my desk, tagged and dog-eared for years to come. Parenting adult children must be bathed in prayer daily. The culture we live in and the enemy we face wants to destroy our children - destroy their lives, their careers, their faith. The best gift I can give my children is my prayers for them. Stormie Omartian is the best author of prayer resources. Her books offer prayer suggestions, scriptural prayers, encouragement, and guidance. God has gifted her with wisdom that every believer should soak in. This quote from the book pretty much sums up the book for me..."Someone asked me recently if having adult children was a life sentence. I said it only felt like I was doing hard time when I wasn't praying. When I'm praying, I see it more like a lifetime assignment from God to keep my adult children covered, so that His will can be done in their lives."

Yet again, another wonderful book by bestselling author Stormie Omartian. I am familiar with her writings, my favorite is the Power of the Praying Wife. I like that her books are easy to read and straight to the point. Her books are chocked full of the good stuff. I appreciate how she includes the scriptures throughout each prayer, making it a more powerful prayer. I would like to own all her Power of Prayer books one day.
I am a mother to five daughters, two of which are married with children of their own. There have been many times that I would be burden in my heart for my daughters and their families. There are still times when the words just don’t flow like I would like when I pray for them. For me, it is extremely hard to let go of my children, once they leave our homes and to permit them to make their own mistakes without trying to add my two-cents worth. I have actually had to pray for God to help me hold my tongue and keep my opinions to myself.
“First Memo to Self: Forgive my adult children for anything they may have done to hurt, disappoint, neglect, or anger me. “

This lady knows her prayers, it doesn't matter which of her books you pick up and read your prayer life improves a thousand times and so do the results. In this one she is focusing on your adult children. It is so difficult to pray for them because you are no longer the person in control of their life, they are, and of course, their ideas are definitely different from yours. Praying for them helps to keep them on the path of God without you becoming a nag in their lives that they avoid. Praying for them also helps to improve your relationship with them because you are not as worried about everything that they do. Well, in theory at least ;) . Stormie has an excellent writing style that is very clear. She presents her ideas well and her sample prayers cover the bible thoroughly.

I had to start this book again WITH my husband. The beginning starts with 7 things parents need to know before they read further and pray. As I started this book it specifically addressed so many of the things my husband and I have agonized over together regarding our adult children. Reading this book has given us power and confidence in our prayers. It has given us HOPE. It has allowed us to forgive ourselves and each others for past failures as parents. It is so helpful and encouraging. This is a great resource that I will go to over and over again. I just wish I had started reading it sooner!!

Awesome Tool
I have always prayed for my children, but this book helped make my prayers fresh and purposeful in a different way . I had already used this author's book for praying for my grandchildren, so I I knew it would be useful. I look forward to using her other prayer books.

Wow, prayers still going for your children even through Adulthood. Stormie captures the hearts of parents once again...we never stop praying, our prayers just evolve.

This book really identifies the most prominent areas of struggles that our adult children will go through. Not all but most. Has sections for different challenges. Gives insights and biblical basis for praying the types of prayers for protection, healing,faith development and overall concerns with Christian guidance on how to pray for them. And there is a Bible Study book available to go with it. If you pray for your kids even as adults then I really recommend this book for you to read if not own!

The choice of Scripture for each (detailed) prayer was what resonated with me most. I would heartily recommend this book study for anyone who desires to pray more circumspectly and with pin point accuracy as concerns one's children, adult or otherwise. Though it is not a good idea to depend on feelings, yet in that respect I DID become conscious of having "prayed well" as some great saint in the faith once said. "To have studied well is to have prayed well" (Andrew Murray, I believe).

As a parent you think that once you get your children to 18 you've made it. The truth is you just start all over again. You have to learn how to parent them differently. This book of prayers by Stormie is a treasure during the season of starting over as a parent. Thank you for these prayers.

Started this book of prayers when my daughter went to college last year and just finished it today…read/prayed one prayer per week. I likely will start it over again soon. I believe the purest way we can love our family and friends is to pray for them. I have used The Power of Praying books for years and love every one of them.

Liked this one less than they praying husband and praying wife books, which I read in advance to this. Still, some gems to pull out. Some prayers useful for praying for friends or couples I care for and want to include in my prayers as well.

I purchased this book in 2020. I just perpetually read through it over and over. It’s a great way to always stay in pray for my adult children. I’m a big fan of Stormie’s prayer books. A great tool in my opinion for me.
