Saari Mitchell attends a Tueri conference in Las Vegas, Nevada to strengthen her bonds with Dhelis Guidry and Brogan Vincent-and see if they can make their three-sided relationship work. But when Saari and her vampire brother Mag's lives are threatened, her trip to paradise soon becomes a surreal fight for survival. Dhelis and Brogan's psychic abilities are no help in finding Saari. Desperate to save their mate, they call in favors from the psychic and preternatural community, but the information leads only to more questions. Is the threat against Saari personal or part of a larger plan that threatens every human and Tueri's existence?
I'm obsessed with the written word. It all started with those little 45 rpm records that read the story while you followed along with a book. You know the ones I'm talking about, right? Well, let's just say kindergarten was a breeze. I kept practicing, and at age nine read my mother's copy of Jaws (which might explain my fear of the ocean...well, of what's in it!). So it's not surprising all that reading led to a writing career as a paranormal romance and urban fantasy author. I love creating intriguing stories filled with non-stop action, nail-biting conflict and scintillating attraction between the people that live in my head.
P.S. I'm an avid reader/collector of books. My to-read shelf is comprised of books I own!
As with the first book in this story, Moonlight Blue, this plot is highly intriguing. Picking up right where Moonlight Bleu left off, this book is fast paced and full of adventure, with the mystery and danger kicked into full gear. This suspenseful sequel continued following most of the main characters from the first book, as well as introducing a whole cast of new characters, filling the story with fresh excitement.
As the sequel to an adult fantasy romance novel, this book had many more adult scenes than the first. The personal and romantic relationships between several characters were much more in-depth, showing us the layers of the growth the main characters went through. The thrilling adventure, mystery, and personal story with the three main characters, made this book a quick page-turner.
As with the first book, this story was very well written. Renee Rearden did a fantastic job of creating a complex and entertaining story that moved quickly. While I personally don't care for the adult nature of some of the scenes, this book was interesting enough to keep me reading past those areas, and still ended up a satisfying story. Overall, I enjoyed this book, and the story itself, and would recommend it to any adult paranormal romance fan.
*I was given a complimentary ecopy of this book, from the author, to read in exchange for an honest review.
First I would like to thank the author for giving me this book for an honest review. I have to say the continuing story of Saari, Dhelis and Brogan just gets better. I love all the characters, we get new characters added to this book and even expand Saari's surrogate family. Every one that she connects with cares about her as much as she care about them. Dhelis's ex girlfriend is plotting evil things. Saari, Dhelis and Brogan have spent the last four months getting to know each other better, now they are at a conference to take classes to expand their physic talents and to bond even deeper with each other. No sooner are they there, when Brogan gets called away to heal a council member, then Dhelis gets called to Washington for a senate meeting. Which leaves it open for Saari to get nabbed along with her surrogate vampire brother Mag. There are many twists and turns and during everything the three find they can do things they didn't know they can do through their bond. I love the story line and I hope that Renee is going to keep the series going because I cannot wait to find out what happens next.
Crimson Sunrise was far more entertaining than the first book in this series. The action pulled the story along and I breezed through it. A crazy stalker lady is after Dhelis and attempts to get rid of Saari and anyone else that stands in her way. As in the first book, I liked reading more into the antagonist's perspective. Josie was truly someone you love to hate.
I will say that I've never really been one for love triangles. They usually drive me up a wall. So, I'll say that it took me by surprise how much I actually enjoyed the romance in this book. Perhaps I liked the novel way in which the author introduced this three-way romance. It is not your typical love triangle. Yes, their are two guys who are fighting for the same girl's affection. The difference is, though, that they are not making her choose between them. They've both "mated" with her (Think "Big Love" style) and I liked how the author treated this crazy relationship. It wasn't all smiles and sharing, which made it more real.
Crimson Sunrise is Renee Rearden’s sequel to Moonlight Bleu, published two years ago. I didn’t read Moonlight Bleu, but I heard terrific things about it. I’m an eclectic reader--I like reading different genres--so when I decided to read Crimson Sunrise, I knew I was reading a sequel to a story I hadn’t originally read and I was a bit nervous because even though I like paranormals, I wondered if I would be able to buy into and follow the world that the author created. So, yeah, I was sitting on the edge of my seat as I started reading, thinking I had two strikes against me. Or so I thought. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This world that Renee Rearden has created is fascinating. The heroine, Saari Mitchell is an Immortal, which means she’s been around for a long time, but she’s still incredibly vulnerable with an intriguing balance of true grit and wide-eyed wonder at this world she inhabits and must battle in to survive. She has two boyfriends or rather “mates,” who seem to be more like her husbands, who she met in Book One. Saari makes it clear that she felt a connection with both Dhelis and Brogan, which is an important component of why they are together. Now rather than being confusing, this idea of having two men who want to be with Saari adds an interesting romance angle to the story. How does she balance a relationship with two men? How does she deal with the jealousy angle? How does she forge a relationship with each one individually? One concept I found particularly interesting had to do with what happened during the physical part of Saari’s relationship with her mates. When Saari makes love with each of her mates, their energies merge and they actually glow. The connection between them seems to intensity, making them a potential danger to vampires, but enabling them also to develop a psychic connection to each other. This connection comes in handy when Saari needs help because Crimson Sunrise is so much more than a romance. Very quickly, the story takes off when Saari and her vampire brother, Mags, are kidnapped by a deranged stalker of one of her mates, and Saari and Mags must battle a slew of adversaries and the natural elements in order to survive. Engulfed in a crystal net, they are thrown into the deepest part of an ocean, come near to drowning, are beset by a shark, and then Saari is attacked by another vampire who drinks her blood and claims her for his own. These are just some of the things that happen to Saari in the course of this action adventure story, which kept me on the edge of my seat. Ms. Rearden did an excellent job of creating interesting three dimensional villains who came to life on the page with their own motives and quirky behaviors. Too often authors pay short shrift to the characters their heroes are in conflict with. Because Ms. Rearden creates fully fleshed-out characters, the conflict jumps off the page and pulls you, the reader, in. She also does an excellent job of creating interesting minor characters. For example, while Saari is struggling to find her way back to her mates, Dhelis and Brogan call in a psychic locator to help find Saari. Rhone is Brogan’s little brother who enters the situation with his own issues. He comes across as a real person. Crimson Sunrise is the second book in Renee Rearden’s Tueri Fated Souls Series. Saari, the heroine, is under constant seige and I found myself reading to discover whether the threat against her was personal or part of a larger plot that threatened all Tueris and humans. Would Saari once again emerge victorious? If you are looking for a meaningful romance and an engaging action adventure story, Crimson Sunrise is the story for you. I can’t wait for Book Three.
Wow I liked this book so much better then the first! I'm so happy to have had the chance to read it. Go read the first book and then my review. Then go read this book and you'll see what I mean!
So we're back in our love triangle fest between Saari, Dhelis, and Brogan. Not only are they trying to sort themselves out with one another but they're also dealing Dhelis's psycho ex. Oh how I love the crazy ex's. They always, always, always make me happy for some reason. I don't know what it is. They make me laugh and cringe and they're all around ugly people in their heart. And MOST of the time they get what's coming to them in the end. Life's a bitch right?
The connection between the three of them that I was desperate for in Midnight Bleu finally came to fruition in this book. Thank god I needed someone to have sex to break some of that awful tension up. I don't want to give too much away. Lets just say I was thrilled with who she knocked boots with first! I was happy that things weren't contrived between all of them. It felt like a real relationship and I have no clue what a relationship like that would entail but the author handled it perfectly for me.
I also liked the addition of new people. Especially a certain vampire who I think will become extremely important in further books. Please? I'm begging you to make him more important. Oh and can you also write him a book for just himself? I need to know his story and I really want him to fall in love. Oh and for the record I'm not talking about Mag. I think Ms. Rearden knows who I'm talking about.
Okay now for something funny. I've read a ton of books. And to be perfectly honest a lot have been smut. Yes I'm a dirty girl lol. I often smile at the words used for female genitalia. I won't list them all because you know what they are. This book though...omg I spit my drink out when I read the word used. I told my husband and cracked up too so it wasn't just me. I'm so sorry to be laughing at a sexy part but Ms. Rearden, I'm begging you to pick another word! Ok ready for it? Are you sure? Here you go...
NUBBIN
Yep you read that right the word is nubbin. Say it out loud I dare you not to laugh. So and so pressed his thumb to my nubbin and I immediately flew apart. hahahahahahaha too funny.
So there were a few oh no's in the book in regards to writing. Vess tells Saari that he was put out to sea April 15, 1932. But she describes his clothes as Victorian. Oh and these sentences got my attention:
Brogan and I'll wait out here for you." I'll? No that doesn't work.
Tueri business has comes first.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. I'm very much looking forward to future installments!
**A copy of this book was supplied by the author in return for an honest review.**
This is the second book in the Tueri Fated Souls series by Renee Rearden. I received this and the first book, Moonlight Bleu from the author after I found it listed on a Goodreads Read4Review list. The first book in the series was a fantastic read, check out my review.
This book picks up roughly four months from the ending in Moonlight Bleu. Saari has been dating both Dhelis and Brogan, spending time with each of them alone, getting to know them. Now they are in Las Vegas on what basically amounts to their honeymoon. A time when they will be going through training classes together and Saari will learn more about what she can do, alone and with each of her mates. They are staying in a romantic bungalow right on the beach. Who could ask for a more romantic setting?
Unfortunately, things don't work out as planned. First Brogan is called away to work a healing on a council member. Then Dhelis finds out that he has to go to DC at the last minute to cover for another who's wife has gone into early labor. Saari is not happy about being basically left all alone on her honeymoon without either of her mates. Luckily, Mag, her vampire brother shows up to keep her company and give her a sounding board to vent on. Things go from bad to worse though when Saari and Mag are kidnapped and left with no way to contact anyone.
This book flowed so quickly for me. The pacing was superb and the dialogue was spot on. I really enjoyed the twists and turns that took place in solving the mystery. I really enjoyed getting to get a more in depth look at Mag and Saari's relationship. My only complaint is that now I want the next book and I don't even know if there's going to be a next book... There had better be a next book! *shakes fist*
Even though the HEA is getting closer to resolution, it's not quite there yet. Plus there are still a lot of strings that haven't been tied up. Primarily the one about Saari's parentage, but also several others that I don't want to give any spoilers on. This is getting 5 stars on Goodreads and a sincere hope the Ms. Rearden hurries up with book 3.
Saari Mitchell and her two mates are supposed to be spending time getting to know each other in this sequel to Moonlight Bleu. Instead, Dhelis is in Washington, D.C., testifying before the government in an effort to secure more money for the paranormal budget. Brogan has been called to heal a severe gunshot wound inflicted upon a Tueri Council member during a robbery.
Mag and Saari are in serious trouble orchestrated by Dhelis’ long-time, stalking, ex-girlfriend, Josie. The devious plan she has concocted could result in the dissolution of the mating among Saari, Dhelis, and Brogan.
Josie’s plans are rooted in more than simple jealousy. She has a deep-seated need to control and harm that is more twisted than most minds can grasp. It will take Saari, her mates, and all her new friends to unravel Josie’s evil plan and save not only her newly formed Trigonal mating bond, but her new culture as a whole.
Renee Rearden knows how to keep the reader enthralled. Her characters are fully-formed beings with engrossing personalities. The villains are as well-developed as the heroes. Josie is a malicious bitch, a genuine wicked stalker who the reader loves to hate. The men are deliciously different, but all are delectable. This author is someone to follow.
This book was provided by the author through Goodreads’ Read for Review program in exchange for an honest review.
Crimson Sunrise begins almost immediately after book one, Midnight Bleu. In this installment Saari, Dhelis, and Brogan are trying to adjust and strengthen their bond, as well as figure out how this threesome will work, and control the energies their combined power exudes. Of course it seems that everything is conspiring against them and as the saying goes - in the meantime back at the ranch - there is murder, kidnapping, mayhem, and psychos trying to take over the preternatural world and in turn the human existence. This installment heats up with some smexy doings that definitely have sizzle, but are tastefully written. I continued to love Saari and have a tender spot in my heart for Brogan and Dhelis, when he is not being a self absorbed fellow is worming his way into my affections. I definitely recommend this series to urban fantasy fans, but do recommend it be read in order, as there is just too much that will not be understood if you have not read book one. I am so looking forward to the next installment of the Tueri Fated Souls. I received this book from the author with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.
Giving the book a 3 out of 5 stars. The problem is that i have not read the first book so i have been a little confused with the book (went on the previous book to read some reviews to make an idea about the first book). Also i have never read this type of book before, so without reading the first book for me this book started a little to "fast" with the hot romance (have to admit that i was blushing reading the sex chapter.) I do recommend this book but an advice the ones will read it to be 16 and over. Although is my first time for this type of book, can say that made me really curious and interested in getting the first book. Love all the characters in this book, and never though ill say this but i like the love triangle from the book. Got so cut up into the book that sometimes when i was distracted from reading i wished i had one of their powers. The book is so original (yes is with vampires but what they do and their powers)with every little detail and adventure. To be honest don't think i have ever read a book with so much danger(but in a good way), and what is the writer putting the characters to do to survive/escape.
Review: Crimson Sunrise by Renee Rearden: Oh wow! Oh my gosh. What a roller coaster ride. Ups and downs and freaking underwater strolls – freaking awesome – and long ‘buried’ vampires – brilliant! – demented chimera – holy hell – smoking hot bouncers – poor Brutus – and so many connections. What a great story line. And so stressful. Gosh, my nerves were shot. That damn woman was demented! Poor Dhelis. Thank goodness Saari and Dhelis fried their asses. Serves them right. I loved this story, and I will definitely read book one and book two again. I am going to go check now if there is a book three. Cause you know, they are a threesome, so there should be three books. And maybe in book three they will have a threesome….one can hope. Ha ha. I love the connection between Dhelis, Brogan and Saari, and they make such a group ‘couple’. I think they need another book though (hint, hint) to iron out all their little problems,
This is an honest review given in exchange for reading the book.
Crimson Sunrise is a continuation on Midnight Bleu. The readers get to explore more of Delis, Brogan and Saari's relationship. Delis had many issues to resolve with their trigonal match, in some instances he came as a real prick, but eventually got over it. Josie had a really intricate plan to get rid off Saari and Mag as well. Not out of pure love for Delis, but for something much sinister and dangerous. However, Saari and Delis' passion sizzled to the point where it was discovered that it's actually a weapon against vampires. By the end, Saari has a whole new family she belongs and cares for. A few new characters are added to the mix, mostly hot vamps, while some old adversaries are dealt with and are gone. Unless, the author has more surprises up her sleeve. With highly imaginative story like this, anything is possible and reader can expect the unexpected.
This book is one hell of a lot hotter than the previous one! The first novel goes some way towards setting the scene for the relationships in this one and this book just dives straight in. There is a lot of action and at one point I wondered what possessed the author to set a scene under the sea, thinking she was aiming to stretch my incredulity - but it works, and very well, at that. Ms Rearden explores the emotional triangle between the three main characters in considerable depth, whilst introducing new ones to keep the reader interested. The plot is complex and there is a great deal going on, and lots of revelations throughout the book, but many more things are left unsaid or hinted at, paving the way for the next in the series. Well written, well thought out, and a thoroughly entertaining read.
