My review contains spoilers and they're mostly my thoughts as I went with the book...

Marie Medina is a new-to-me author and despite the fact that I don’t usually read ménage and M/M, I gave into the temptation of reading Phantom Lovers due to various reasons: I was intrigued by the storyline and ghost lovin’ is a very fascinating idea for me. Also, it’s a free read (lol). I can’t say I was disappointed, except that it being a novella I felt that John, William and Lynsay’s relationship rushed along a bit too soon for my liking.

Lynsay just broke up with a guy because when she made it known that she wanted to try ménage, he balked from it. She works in a theater which is said to be haunted by two ghosts. But Lynsay never saw anyone or anything… well, she may have felt something but never gave it a serious thought. One day, she again heard some male whispering, moaning and talking softly while working on the stage alone. One of the older crews of the place, Eleanor, informs her soon after that these two ghosts are very much real... Lynsay, of course, doesn’t believe in any of it, until she meets them for real. When she is out, alone yet again, checking something else, both ghosts at first make themselves known with their touches (yes, they can touch mortals if they want to and of course, themselves... so much so that they can, er... umm... make love to each-other but no other ‘mortal’ activities as far as I understood) and then, by making clear cut appearances. Lynsay doesn’t believe her eyes but they’re real, no doubt. No one can’t see them, except for Lynsay, which is how they want it.

Both of them, John and William as they introduce themselves, are dressed in the 50s clothes. John has dark hair and eyes, while William is fair and blue eyed. They are bi men, familiar with both men and women. They were in a secret relationship before they died of a fire in the theater. They both tell her that they’ve been watching and wanting her for a long time. John and William even spied on her with her ex while they had sex in her office before they broke up (eh, what? lol). Lynsay is surprised but not offended or anything, not at all when she hears that these two are more than amenable to her wishes of having a ménage. Afterwards, they fool around for a while, with glimpses of John and Williams’ own little rendezvous as well. Anyway, soon, they’re getting into action, altogether... And, just when I was thinking to myself (pardon my lack of extended paranormal romance knowledge): er, seriously, can she get pregnant from er... ghostly er, umm thinking, you-know-what?.... a twist in the story comes up, which hinted at a possible solution for this relationship. I was also wondering how would she keep on having a relationship with two ghosts, if anyone can call it one.

Sex was pretty hot, I give it that and I liked MM’s writing. The starting of the story was really interesting but as I said, it being a novella, I felt they got into action too soon and said ILU too soon. I needed a little more development in the relationship.

3.75 stars. I’ll definitely keep a lookout for the author’s M/F stories, if she writes any.

“Phantom Lovers” is a freebie and can be downloaded from both smashwords and allromanceebooks.

Warning: Might not be for you if you’re not into ménage of any kind, M/M and backdoor lovin’!

This was a sweet story about two ghosts who finally found a woman to love together.

It is MMF, meaning that there is MM action. I personally found that them including her in there relationship was wonderful and very hot.

Even though this was a short story I do not feel that it was rushed like many are. At one point in time the book mentions "one month later", so she didnt just jump into the ghost shaggin'.

Its free. Glad I gave it a try :)

I got Phantom Lovers free from Allromance.com back in 2014 and am just now getting to it but I kind wish I hadn’t. Phantom Lovers made me think of the sing-song thing that went like 1,2 skip a few… Only in this case it is start (they meet), skip the middle, the end (they have sex). There is the hint of a middle but nothing of any real substance.

If your looking for a short adult bedtime porn story with no real substance and in need of some editing then you might like this one but I really feel like the author could have done so much better.

At first she wonders how she can trust the two mysterious men, but soon she convinces herself how foolish it would be to resist them. Yet even as she indulges in all the pleasures they offer her, she doesn’t confess her true feelings. She never imagined giving her heart to more than one man in the first place, so how can she give it to two men who aren’t even alive?

Excerpt:
Lynsay looked into John’s eyes as William watched. She reached over and touched his cheek, and he gripped her hand and brought it to his lips. “The past is the past,” John said. “We’re thinking of now.” He kissed his way over her wrist and up her arm.

When their lips met, William joined them, standing on the other side of her and putting his arms around both of them.

“After hearing you say you wanted two men to make love to you at the same time, William had to hold me back to keep me from touching you,” John said after their lips parted.

“I would have gotten over Brian much quicker if you had,” she said, leaning into John.

“Are you saying yes, Lynsay?” William asked.

She turned to look into his eyes. “John said it was high time you two ‘came courting,’ didn’t he?”

William nodded, wanting to taste her lips again as he watched John nuzzle her neck.

“Then court me,” she said, flicking her eyes between him and John.

John raised his eyebrows. “I court pretty aggressively.”

Lynsay smiled and looked back at William. “Does he?”

William laughed. “I would say so. After two weeks of working together, he pulled me into an empty room and stuck his tongue down my throat while his hand found its way down my pants.”

Her mouth popped open, but she didn’t say anything. She closed it, but then she ran her tongue over her lower lip. “Did he? Did you like that?”

John stood just as William began to speak. “You bet he did,” John said, pulling William into his arms. John drew William’s lower lip between his teeth and sucked, sending a pulse of desire down to his groin. William closed his eyes and gave in to him, letting John kiss him and hold him. He felt John’s cock harden as their bodies touched. When John broke the kiss and began nibbling at his neck, William looked at Lynsay.

Her gaze was fixed on them as they embraced, her breathing shallow and her look hungry.

“He’s amazing,” William whispered as he stared into her entrancing eyes. “His mouth does the most wicked things.”

She swallowed and kept watching for a few moments, but then she looked away. William gave John a little shake and pulled out of his arms.

“All jokes aside, is that what you want? You want to be wooed?” William asked.

“Yes,” she said. “I want to know you, both of you, first.” She smiled, shaking her head. “I’m a little muddled right now.”

“Then we’ll leave you for now, so you can think,” William said. He turned to John. “Right?”

He could feel that John didn’t want to leave, but after a brief glance at him, John looked at her and nodded with a smile. “Yes. We will. I don’t know what I’d do without him.” He looked up at the ceiling and laughed before looking between the two of them. “Probably earn myself quite a hard slap.”

To William’s relief, Lynsay laughed as well. “Maybe. Maybe not. How about we see each other tomorrow?”

Both men nodded, and William grabbed John’s hand, making them both disappear before John could say or do anything else.

Our Review

This was a cute little short story about a Theater stage designer who encounters 2 male ghosts William and John who have be dead since 1952. They were a item back then but, only in secret.

Lynsay is sort of lonely and they have been drawn to her for sometime but, admired her from a far, She breaks up with her boyfriend and they decide now to pursue her and make themselves known to her. Come Courting as they say made me chuckle. The threesome get to know one another and find themselves in a steamy relationship which Lynsay is adapting to quite well as she always dreamed about making love to two men its been one of her fantasies.

Lynsay doesn't know it yet but, she is the key to William and Johns future while possible creating a happily ever after for them all.

This story was endearing two lovers who have loved for centuries who care about one another and have found love in there hearts for another. Can two men love the same women without jealousy between them and have the kind of relationship they have always dream of ?This was a enjoyable read but, this is not for all.The sexual scenes were hot having menage and also men enjoying other men. After reading Marie Medina book I would definitely give her other books a try. And Erotic novel not overly done.

I think I’ve read this before but it’s not on the list. Anyhow, interesting premise, decent execution. Too short for any character development, but it has the feel of an erotic fairy tale, so who needs that? They’re ghosts. One you accept the premise, anything goes.

This ebook was a freebie put out by Evernight Publishing. It's a short story, so know that right off the bat because my critique of the book is directly related to its brevity. And yes, this is for all intents and purposes a piece of erotic fluff, but I've always believed that erotica can be as enjoyably romantic as mainstream best-sellers. But more on that in a bit.

Lynsay doesn't believe in ghosts, and she definitely doesn't believe the theater where she works is haunted. But she can't deny the truth when two men appear out of nowhere. Nor can she deny her powerful attraction to them.

John and William, lovers in life and afterlife, have had their eyes Lynsay since she first came to their theatre. They watched, wanted... and waited. Now they've decided the tine for waiting is over. But will she return their feelings?

Normally, when reviewing shorter works, I try to avoid statements like "if only it were longer" since that's inherently unfair. Novellas and short stories are not intended to be novels and shouldn't be read or evaluated as a novel would be.

It's very tempting to do so, however, isn't it?

For instance, the only solid complaint I have about Phantom Lovers is something that was caused by its length and could have been resolved with a bigger word count: the first month of the trio's relationship is completely leapfrogged by one of those "one month later" cheats.

Sure, the author saved all the big action for after the jump, but I always enjoy the parts where characters first start to learn each other -- the flirting, the sexual tension, the epiphany moments. These are the elements of romances I love most. So it was a let-down for me when the characters go from basic strangers on one page to established lovers the next. And since John and William are already infatuated with Lynsay when the story opens, at no point do we really get to see anyone fall in love. And that's just no fun.

Yes, I appreciate that a short story needs to get to the point. And, in this case, much of that point was the consummation of the relationship. Still, I can't help but wish we'd gotten more because I think it would have been a great segment. I mean, c'mon... Not only does Lynsay have to come to terms with loving two men equally, but they also happen to be ghosts. As in, long dead, invisible to everyone else, and confined to the building they haunt. Then there's the men's side of things -- bringing a third lover into a decades-established relationship, a woman they've longed for but can only be with during stolen moments of the day. I'm telling you, it could have been good.

So where does that leave us? With an erotic story that, though sweet and spicy, isn't particularly romantic. Which isn't a bad thing, honestly. Sometimes you want a book that gets down to business. But if you're looking for a love story, this one won't satisfy that itch. I did like the writing, however -- enough to be curious about other work by Marie Medina.

ARe Description: Lynsay never believed in ghosts and always nodded indulgently when the old timers in the theater tried to convince her otherwise. But two sexy ghosts have been watching her, and waiting. When they appear to her, she hesitates despite the desire that immediately burns in her veins.

A non-believer of the numerous stories about the theater ghosts, Lynsay thinks someone is playing a prank on her when she hears moaning (not the ghostly kind). Then objects around her start moving, she hears the voice of men very close to her, she feels their hot breath on her face, and then they appear before her – John and William.

They've been watching her for a long time. Watching and wanting. They know her most secret fantasy because they'd overheard her telling her then boyfriend. Now she's free and they're ready to make their move. She's not opposed, but she wants to be wooed first. And so the courting begins.

They spend the next month getting to know each other better. Their feelings have grown beyond friendship and just sex, but Lynsay is afraid to lose something she can't have – both men in the flesh. However, there are three conditions that must be met simultaneously for them to have their HEA. Will they succeed?

This was short and very hot! With most novellas I'd say it could have been longer or expanded, but this was satisfying in its length and content. I enjoyed this, so I would check out more of this author's work.

A surprisingly sweet short story that's also smoking hot and unexpectedly developed. Despite the short length, the characters aren't flat stereotypes but have definite personalities of their own, something that is always pleasant to find. We learn the essential parts of John and William's backstory, but not much of Lyndsay's, though that doesn't seem to matter much as there is the sense that her life has been fairly ordinary up until now. From their first encounters it is easy to feel the heat between these three, and when the guys finally reveal themselves to her it quickly becomes electric. I'd expected them to start having sex almost right away after they revealed themselves, but surprisingly it doesn't. Instead, the guy's introduce themselves, kiss her rather thoroughly, but then back off to give her time to get to know them, only gradually easing into a physical relationship. After that, whether it's just John and William together or all three of them, the action is so hot you can almost see steam coming from the screen. Definitely a recommended quick read for anyone that likes menage erotica or paranormal erotica.

This was a freebie and I must have been going through a gay phase or something because I have a couple of freebies that have threesomes with M/M sex (I usually don't get into the gay sex thing---must be a phase). Bottom line- I did not enjoy this book. I skipped through the majority of the sex scenes and was left with about 10 pages of storyline (I guessed on that, my kindle doesn't do pages). I'm guessing a typical ghost story, just erotic with 2 guys and a chick. It was very short so anything I say would contain spoilers. Not really my type of book. I would not loan this book unless I knew it was your thing. TTFN-Sandy

I always say "If you're going to have an affair with a smokin' hot ghost, you might as well make it a threesome." Amusing and sexy. The length of the story doesn't leave much room for character development but it was fun.

This book was a free ARE download I picked up 09/08/12 for the Why Buy the Cow? reading challenge.

I thought the ending was a bit of a stretch, but once you posit bisexual ghosts who can be warm and solid to the sense of one person while simultaneously remaining totally imperceptible to others, I suppose anything’s possible. Including

I really liked this story a lot. I was a little disappointed that it was short it says it's 73 pages it's more like 30. The story was rushed. Lynsay never believed in ghosts and always nodded indulgently when the old timers in the theater tried to convince her otherwise. But two sexy ghosts have been watching her, and waiting. When they appear to her, she hesitates despite the desire that immediately burns in her veins. The sex scenes were hot.

This was offered as a free ebook so I gave it a try. I wasn't extremely disappoointed with it but neither was I completely blown away. The concept was intriging but IT think maybe the storyline could have been just a bit stronger. Of course one of the problems was that it was short, the story just felt a bit too rushed.

it was an ok book. I feel bad because I was expecting... more. I was looking for a book similar to Eve Langlasis's Ghostly Menage. And I thought I found it... but I was wrong :(

It was a good story for its purpose. Fast read, Hot sex with 2 men ans then all 3 of them.

The story felt rushed. would have liked to see more haunting in the beginning.. but it was ok ;)

Interesting premise, not badly written structure -wise, but a bit too quick and underdeveloped even for a quickie. Still, I would check out something full-length from Ms. Medina to see what her true skills are.

Freebie found on Kobo. A quick erotic read based on m/m/f. Kinda gave a new meaning to Phantom of the Opera. If you're searching for something with plots and finesse, this may not be for you. If you don't mind something short that dances on the edge of kink, then most definitely give it a try.
