Please be Quiet!

The little penguin from My Puffer Train is having a wonderful time hopping and skating about the house. "Please be quiet," his mother tells him, "The baby is sleeping." But it is very hard for a little penguin to keep still, and finally mother penguin sends him outside where he finds all sorts of noisy things to do with his animal friends. When the little penguin comes back inside to play, he finds a clever way to have fun and keep quiet. Children's author and illustrator Mary Murphy enchants even the youngest of readers with her bold style, combining eye-catching graphics and a bouncy text that seemingly jump off the pages.

Mary Murphy has an advanced diploma in Visual Communications and has written and illustrated a number of children's books, including her lift-the-flap, pull-the-tab book about friendship, ROXIE AND BO TOGETHER. In addition to creating children's books, she teaches illustration. The author-illustrator lives in Galway, Ireland.

I liked this story because during storytime I had the kids get up and mimic the actions that were in the book. When little penguin jumped they jumped, when he rolled in the grass they spun in circles. This was a great interactive book for little kids and a cute story about being loud and quiet with different actions.

Very simple text and bright illustrations - have the toddlers get up and mimic the actions and they'll love it at story time!
