It effectively acclimates you to the signs that you were already aware of but perhaps didn't realize the reasons behind it. The author steers the sufferers in self discovery and gives techniques to move forward rather than dwell in the past. The focus is on self-awareness and not to blame anyone else even if that's the case. It is essentially parenting your inner child without putting your normal adult life on hold.
The guidance given can be applied to further a healthy lifestyle. If you are confused, there is a detailed list of behavioural issues to help zero down on whether you suffer from such trauma or not. It also expands on how a certain behavior affects our reactions, feelings, and attitude.

It's not a big book but I really enjoyed it. It was a light read, but even so, it had elements and aspects I never even considered before. When you grow up as a child, little things that happen that hurt you still do as an adult. Like when you were younger, kids not wanting to play with you and being unkind meant later on in life you might have social anxiety or fear of people as you've grown up having your inner child being upset. Personally this really stuck with me, I've not got any mental health conditions but even so I do feel your inner child is for everyone and everyone should cherish themselves and heal. Good read and a good way of thinking, really liked how they included references to other researchers and sources etc.
This is beautifully written and when, when used in the ways this book recommends, can be a great help to those suffering through any sort of past traumas. I loved how the author wrote about her own personal experiences, as well.
A wonderful book with lots to understand and practice, being a therapist and coach myself,I've been into this work for myself and for my clients, this book just added a layer of deep wisdom both to my skills and knowledge, taking my craft a notch above.
