Devan McAllister, a seventeen year old with ADD is gifted with the ability to hear voices of what others close to him are thinking and sometimes it feels like more of a burden than a gift. He is misunderstood by his parents and many of his teachers and he gets into trouble and spends a lot of time in detention where he meets Abraham who is the janitor at the school and they develop a relationship because Abraham is also gifted. Devan meets Grace who he always thought was a happy and popular girl but he finds out that she is depressed and suicidal.
