Splat the Cat and his class go on a field trip to the aquarium! Splat tries to impress Kitten with his excellent sea creature facts, but he might not know as much about underwater creatures as he first thought. Mrs. Wimpydimple reminds them to look, don't touch. But Splat finds himself making a great big—splat!
I love Splat the cat but I can always tell the stories that were not written by him. This is such a tale. Splat is at the aquarium making up some fishy tales to catch the attention of a girl. It works, but also becomes a problem. A fun Splat, but not the best Splat.
Young Splat and his class are on excursion at the aquarium. Splash wants to impress his friend Kitten, but Mrs Wimpydimple has declared there will be no eating of the fish. So how will Splash catch Kitten's attention?
This is the story of Splat the Cat when his class goes to the aquarium. In order to impress Kitten, Splat makes up all kinds of information about the creatures they see. She starts to pay attention to him, and he gets so excited that he falls into the catfish tank! It is a clever, short book with great pictures. Good for kids who are interested in fish.
This one made me laugh--especially the play on words that build the ending. The boy-trying-to-impress-girl theme was okay for me, but that aspect of the humor would be funnier for children who are older than the target market of this book. This is one of those picture books I definitely recommend reading for fun to middle graders (in spite of its picture book format).
