The 1960s was a decade that Hollywood actress and international fashion icon Audrey Hepburn defined with her gamine, elegant style. The 60s is a landmark photographic chronicle of her film and fashion career during those tumultuous years. Regarded as one of the most beautiful and best-dressed women in the world, Audrey Hepburn had timeless appeal—and this breathtaking photographic collection compiled by David Wills, author of Marilyn Metamorphosis , captures this legendary star at the height of her career—from Breakfast at Tiffany’s to the Vogue fashion shoots with world-class photographers that captured her unique, trendsetting style.
Australian-born David Wills is an author, independent curator, photographic preservationist, and editor who has accrued one of the world's largest independent archives of original photographs, negatives, and transparencies. This book is a real eye-candy winner! It's basically a coffee table book with lots of photos of Audrey Hepburn, including never before seen shots of the actress and behind the scenes shots from her films. There are also pages of quotes by Audrey and about Audrey, giving you a peek into how humble she was and how the people in both Hollywood and in the fashion industry revered her charm and talent. Definitely a book that every Audrey Hepburn fan should own!
This is written by the same author who wrote Audrey: The 50s, only it was released five years before that book. It features photos from Audrey's films from the 1960s, including such favourites as Breakfast at Tiffany's, and My Fair Lady. There is also a section devoted to Audrey's modelling work in this decade.
This book contains lass biographical information on Hepburn than the latter release, The 50s, but same of the same quotes about her are used in both. A delightful coffee-table book for Hepburn fans.
Absolutely gorgeous book! Stunning photos (p. 153 is my personal favorite) and great quotes, as well as outstanding formatting and color choices. A must-see for every Audrey Hepburn fan (and who isn't one?). From author David Wills: "So who is Audrey Hepburn? She might be a personal touchstone, a universal vanguard, a serene and joyous presence. Classically styled but uniquely trendsetting., she resonates as an emblem of elegance, grace, intelligence, sensitivity, and beauty -- in her youth, through the sixties, and, just maybe . . . always." Definitely, always.
Loved all of the gorgeous pictures of Audrey and the wonderful information about her and her movies. It's a large book and fairly heavy but it's beautifully put together as all Audrey books should be.
I love Audrey Hepburn and I was going to use this book for my History assignment on her impact on feminism but I ended up just reading through it and enjoying it soo much.
