Nearly two weeks after an EMP attack sent the nation into chaos, Ethan and Brooke are still fighting to make their way home to Tulsa. Dangers await them at every turn.
Meanwhile, back in Tulsa, Robert and Nina continue to fight to protect Ethan and Brooke’s twins from roaming bands of raiders.
Follow this desperate family as they navigate a grid-down world in book three of the Desperate Age Series, Surviving Freedom.
Rip roaring ride throughout! Ethan and Brooke are still trying to get home to the twins and they encounter more friends and enemies along the way. This one was an edge of the seat thrill ride and I could not stop reading to see how it would end up for them this time. Great characters and a fast moving plot to keep one glued to the page! Looking forward to the next" Terror in Tulsa"! I was given an ARC in exchange for a review, but loved it just the same!
I just blew through this book. It had lots of action. When I was sure how the story was going to go the author surprised me! Ethan and Brooke are still trying to get home to their twins, but encounter some dangerous situations as they travel. Back home Ethan’s parents are facing threats as well. I am not a fan of cliffhangers and this book does have one, but it’s no too bad. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. *story is pretty clean, with a bit of swearing and killing, but nothing terrible. There are also some minor editing errors that did not stop me from enjoying the story.
Surviving Freedom is the 3rd book in the Desperate Age series, in which the intrepid Ethan and Brooke are trained for murder by a corrupt sheriff and his minions. The main couple, still nursing wounds from Dodge City, are forced to escape captivity, repeatedly and, with the help of a member of the city of Freedom, clear their names before they can continue the perilous journey to Tulsa to reunite with their young twins with Ethan's parents, who are themselves, trying to survive. The action is non-stop, surprises abound and the book is simply excellent!
This book 3 was pretty good and I'm glad to see Brooke has improved. Less of an emotional lump of goo and willing to fight. Most of this book centers around our main characters accused of a murder they did not commit and the machinations of the true homicidal rancher. It bogged down in places but over-all was handled in a satisfactory way. I still find the grandparents and their neighborhood more interesting and look forward to book 4.
This story continues to keep the suspense and action going. Ethan and Brooke’s journey back to their children continues to have unexpected difficulties in this third book. A quick read, but still an enjoyable and gripping story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It absolutely gives new perspectives on what could happen in a journey of a few hundred miles that we would take for granted with all of our modern conveniences.
It was definitely worth the wait for this book. The characters are learning just exactly what they would do to get where they need to be. Sadly, I think a lot of people would try to be just like the ones getting in their way if anything like this story ever happened. Excellent continuation from previous books and I am looking forward to the next one.
With so many miles behind them and so many more to go Ethan, Brooke and Jarrod along with his dog, Lexi Lou are stuck in Freedom,OK… And the battle for their “freedom” begins in earnest. There are great characters to read about along with a villain who just about gets them all hanged!!!
Trying to get home where your 4 yr old twins are with their grandparents is hard enough with a vehicle that runs after the EMP hits but to land in a ditch , then be accused of being a thief as well as a murderer. Brooke wants to get home to her family. Townspeople have other ideas, who will win.
That was a pretty rough story . If you thought getting out of Dodge was bad, this is worse. I hope there are not people like that in towns across America that do those kinds of things cause I wouldnt wanna be there...in a catastrophe..however I couldn't put it down so there is that!
Another excellent story by T.L. Payne. I am looking forward to the rest of Ethan, Brooke, and Jarrod’s story. I hope Annie’s story continues, too. They’re home, but will still be dealing with a grid-down society. They’re in Oklahoma… weather, wildlife, and all sorts of other challenges.
Surviving Freedom is Book 3 of the Desperate Age Series. While each book reaches a conclusion without crazy cliffhangers, it is definitely meant to be read as a series.
This is a good read. Definitely worth the time. I keep hoping they'll get home.
I would recommend for anyone 16ish or older. I will continue the series.
This was a really enjoyable third part to this exciting, new EMP apocalyptic series! Fast paced action from the start, high tension levels all they way through, action & adventure from start to finish! What more could you want! I do recommend!
Evil must be met! This book says it all. These characters have had to overcome unbelievable odds trying to get home to loved ones. Without law and order some people become pure evil.
Another exciting story with more new characters and plenty of action, so glad I found this series on Kindle Unlimited. I can't wait to read the next one. Happy reading!
The journey home continues. Trouble in Dodge City. Reminds me of the old west. Shoot outs. Hanging. But our friends are again on their way to Tulsa. What else can happen? Hm?
Surviving Freedom is the third book in the Desperate Age series. I flew through these books but I'm a little cranky over this one. It felt like filler because there were five books planned and they were going to get to Tulsa too early.
Having gotten out of Dodge, Ethan, Brooke, and Jarrod (yes! He's coming with!) make an unexpected pitstop in Freedom, Oklahoma, and find themselves accused of murder. There were a lot of new characters, and it got really confusing. That might have been partly my fault for not paying too close attention to them, but I didn't expect to spend the entire book in Freedom. Maybe the title should have been my clue. By the time I figured out that the new people were important to the story, it was too late to try to keep track of them all.
