What’s the best way to escape the suffocation of the town you’ve lived in your entire life? Well, there’s always a rescue mission to save your parents from a gang of elusive vampire hunters.
For anyone who has ever lived in a small town, the notion of secrets behind closed doors is almost laughable. For Camille Fisher, a typical seventeen year old, the secrets of the Valley and its resident vampires are nothing more than a bunch of fairytales. All of that changes when the enchanting William Dalca, the nephew of the town’s most reclusive citizen, breezes into her life. She soon finds herself caught up in the whirlwind of a first love that threatens her family loyalty and all that she knows about her lineage.
Annie Graefnitz began writing while living in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where the majestic landscapes inspired the setting in her first novel, "The Valley". She now lives with her exuberant son, mischievous dog, and elderly cat, Narnia in Ohio.
4.5 So I have to admit that it took a bit of coaxing to finish this book. Don't get me wrong, the characters were good but it was kinda slow. And I thought I had it figured out in the middle but ohh was I wrong. I really enjoyed the book, yes it was confusing and kinda different from other vampire books but it was a very solid story. I have to see if there is another book in the series because I cannot imagine it leaving off like that.
It all seems normal in the valley. But obviously not since this is a paranormal ya book :) I liked the anticpiation of knowing that something is array but not knowing when Cami's life will start to change/unravel. I enjoyed her as the main character, as well as the secondary characters in the book; the great drama that ensues. I look forward to the next book because I would love to know what comes next!
