Healing Anna's Heart

Rate this book
Four years after her fiancé’s death, Anna is still struggling to rebuild her life. Leaving her hometown of Halifax for a new career in Montreal hasn’t relieved her of the guilt she suffers for the accident that took Ben’s life. Drawn back to Nova Scotia for a funeral, Anna is determined to keep Ben’s family from learning what really happened the night he died.

This is easier said than done when she finds herself in the arms of Ben’s brother Josh, who has loved Anna from afar since the moment they met. With Josh she begins to reclaim her peace of mind and rediscover the passion she has held in check since Ben’s death. But secrets have a way of revealing themselves, and as the attraction between Josh and Anna deepens, mysteries from the past begin to unravel, turning their world upside down once again.

Maybe 2-1/2 stars. It was okay. Sort of short, not even as long as a Harlequin Romance. But it did feel a bit like a Harlequin Romance. The plot was serviceable, no surprises. The characters were nice and the hero had no problem putting his feelings out there and taking a chance. The writing was smooth.

This was a more of a short story versus a book, but still a nice little read and it was a free download to kindle. To my clean reads fans this book does have sensual/sexual scenes, but not as explicit as in many books. I do not recall any profanity. The story had a good premise. Anna returns to her hometown for a funeral for her deceased fiance's grandmother after 4 years. She's still grieving her fiance' and feels responsible for his car accident/death. She's trying to put the past behind her and find peace, but encounters with her fiance's grieving brother and family complicates her plans. Because of the short length of the book it seemed a bit unbelievable (the hero and heroine, meet, fall in lust, fall in love, decide to marry in about a week's time). Not saying its not possible, just not as believable for two educated, rational, grieving, adults. Final analysis: Good read - Yes! Could have been better - Yes!

Eh... I was hoping that the H would have found another woman in the four years since the h left, and especially after she came back. I didn't like this book or the heroine.. Everyone was cheating on everyone and then the way she treated the H.. Like I said I wish he would have found someone else.

A sweet read, nothing steamy if you like good clean reads, I however do prefer a bit of steam. However, it was an enjoyable read, could have been longer, but I say that about a lot of books. Generally well written and I would probably read more by this author.

I stayed up longer than I ought to have to finish this book. I couldn't put it down!
