Marvel at the Moon by Levi Lusko with Tama Fortner illustrated by Catherine Pearson and Tim Bradford is a 90 day devotional book. Each day which is a two page spread contains a topic related to space, a verse, an interesting fact about space and a prayer. The topics included are space facts, famous women and men in space, and what you need to know if you lived in outer space. Fabulous topics for students ages 6-11. Students 9-11 would be able to read on their own.
My eleven year old really enjoyed this story. I loved the format and the beautiful two page spreads. The book is very inviting, and the illustrations are incredible. We are always looking for ways to expand our horizons, and a space devotional is a great way to do that.
This would be a great way to supplement your science curriculum, use a devotional, or wonderful starting point for discussion with your student. I highly recommend Marvel at the Moon.
I was given a copy by the publisher and not required to write a positive review.
This book is the perfect devotional for any youngster who is fascinated by space. Beautiful illustrations and fascinating facts about our solar system and space travel are interwoven with Scripture and brief lessons about how we can rely on God, be more like God, and how he truly cares for us. Each devotion starts with a Scripture verse and then there’s a 3-5 paragraph discussion that ties the Scripture to some aspect of space travel, exploration, or fact. I loved how each devotion ended with a brief prayer to help children learn how to pray and all the different things there are to pray about. There’s also a small trivia section on the side margin of each devotion taking your space knowledge even further. The book is written for 3rd-5th graders to be able to read independently; but can be read out-loud as a family devotion for children ages 5 and up.

I loved this book. It is for elementary aged children but each devotional is written is such a way that younger children will still learn about God and His greatness if you want to use it during a family devotion time. The facts about the moon and the solar system are presented in a way that perks your interest even if your child isn't as a fascinated about space as they are other things. The lessons about relying on God and how to live as He wants you to are simple but right on target and will be powerful examples to everyone, children and adults alike. The Did You Know Items are interesting. Find the telescope is a fun activity and can be used as a way to settle children into getting ready for devotions engage a younger child.
I definitely recommend this devotional book for elementary aged children who are interested in science or space. Children (and adults) will learn a lot about space, stars, the history of the space race, etc. as well as how we can rely on God, be more like God, and how he truly cares for us. Written so middle to upper elementary aged kids can read independently, but could also be read as a family devotion.
I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review - Space-loving boys and girls will enjoy this Marvel at the Moon devotional from Levi Lusko. His style is similar to Louie Giglio’s Indescribable devotional series. Each devotional also includes a Scripture verse, prayer, and “Did You Know” or “Get Ready to Marvel” fact. Each devotional is on a two-page spread with bright, colorful illustrations. Lusko has added a search and find component. Some pages contain a hidden telescope! Our family is excited to start this 90-day devotional together!
MARVEL AT THE MOON: 90 DEVOTIONS: YOU'RE NEVER ALONE IN GOD'S MAJESTIC UNIVERSE
I love the title of this book - you are never alone! What a comfort that is to children and adults. Never alone!
There are 90 devotions in this book geared to the moon, stars, missions, universe and the sun. Each devotion has scripture and a prayer with it. Then there are details about the subject of the title. The devotions are not long and the information is biblical and fun.
This is a beautiful devotional. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this with my children. The colors are so vibrant and everything has to do with space. It’s a beautiful and captivating book! I would highly recommend to anyone who does or wants to start devotions with their children. This was our bedtime devotion and my kids were always excited to read out of Marvel at the Moon!
A great mix of devotional and fun science facts (content that you might not think of putting together, but it blends together beautifully). At first I didn’t realize the book was aimed at kids, and enjoyed the insights as an adult. The language is simple enough for children but the content is appealing for all ages in my view.
Wonderful! 🌝 I thought this book was fantastic. The way it intertwines God and devotions with so many facts about space was so surprising and exciting! Who knew there were so many biblical passages about space! 🚀 Loved it.

Fabulous devotional for kids! Great information and facts to feed their minds but most importantly their hearts with bibical verses and prayers to guide them. Great for before bed!
This is an excellent devotional for young children who have in interest in science and God's vast universe. An adult will also enjoy reading this along with their child.
This was an interesting Christian non-fiction. It combines lots of space facts with scriptures and talking about how to be a kid. It sends the message that kids are never alone because God is always with them including facts about space with biblical teaching. Lusko's kids are included in this audio book by reading prayers and scripture verses. There was quite a bit of great goals for students in this book. Not sure I agreed with everything that was presented, but it is a very interesting take on the concept. It certainly doesn't "preach" to anyone, just presents what this family believes. I don't think I've ever read anything like this before. If you are Christian, I would recommend it. If not, there are still some really interesting space facts on this short book.
Received this from Libro.fm as part of the Educator Advanced Listening Copies for free. All thoughts are my own.
This devotional was really cute, it was an easy read and great for kids. Levi took the time to spell out the big words that may be hard for little ones to sound out or understand. Each lesson was somehow related to Outerspace and the space program. I learned so much each day and looked forward to reading it. I defiantly would recommend this to any young space explorer that is looking for some good space fun and good devotional time. It's fun for parents too.
This book was absolutely lovely and I enjoyed going through it with my children. It illustrates the gospel in a tangible way that is also easy to grasp.
