Unlikely Match

Saving Anna

Rate this book
He holds her life in his hands, but that doesn’t mean she trusts him.

As the youngest son of a duke, Edward Wentworth is neither the heir nor the spare, leaving him feeling restless and uncertain. He decides to forge his own path by embarking on a journey to the newly formed United States that will change his life forever. But when he stumbles upon a beautiful Irish woman being sold into indenture, he knows that he cannot turn a blind eye to her plight.

Where Anna Walsh once had family, pride, safety, and love, she now is only left with an insurmountable debt and a bleak future as a loathsome Englishman's mistress. There is only one chance at escape—indentured servitude. But when a handsome man pays the large sum and then offers her freedom, she cannot help but be suspicious of his motives.

As Anna and Edward navigate their way through the challenges of their journey, will they be able to set aside their biases and allow their love to flourish? Or will their past beliefs keep them from finding true happiness?

This was such an interesting read! I absolutely loved the different plot line. A duke’s third(?) son going to America to make his own way, saving a strong woman from servitude, being stuck on a ship with said woman, falling in love, saving a small boy from an unknown and cruel future, a perfect wingman-valet, and a sweet happily ever after.
I am definitely invested now in Mindy as an author and am dying to get my hands on her other books. The historical details in this book were awesome and made the story richer.
You won’t want to miss this sweet novella! It’s the perfect read for anyone looking to escape into a great, and short, historical romance.

This was such a fun novella. I love the ship setting and loved the Greek mythology in it. Loved the characters and slow burn romance. Such a fun story.

This was such a sweet novella. Edward is looking for freedom as the younger son of a duke. With a plan to sail to the American continent and make his own way in the world, Edward sets out to buy tickets on a ship when he comes across an auction for indentured servants. It's there that he rescues Anna, a feisty Irishwoman fallen from status. The two of them come to know one another during their voyage, and despite their atypical meeting and differing stations, develop feelings for each other. I thought Anna and Edward were a great match and I enjoyed their character growth in such a short time. I loved the tie in with Greek mythology too. Looking forward to the next book in this series!

This is a prequel to the Unlikely Match series. It is a kisses only pre-regency era romance.

I've owned this ebook forever it seems and have wanted to read it. A few months ago I discovered the first in the series available on audio via my Hoopla. I listened to and loved that. Recently I discovered this prequel novella also available to listen to.

I had a few hours and thought I'd sneak this one in before the end of 2025. I liked getting the Duke's (from book 1) parents' story since it is referenced in that book.

This was a quick and charming listen. Most of the book takes place on a ship. That was different.

The book is read by one female narrator and I enjoyed listening to her.

Great story!

The settings were few so the bulk of the story is told in dialogue and interaction. I love learning about characters based on their actions and reactions instead of direct descriptions.

In spite of her current circumstances, Anna is a lady. She behaves as such so that even her filthy clothes can't disprove it. Yeah, Edward plays the hero, but it's some delusion. He's a nice guy and sometimes acts without thinking things through.

His valet starts as a horrible snob, but really cares about Edward.

Cute story, I think I would have liked it to be full length instead of a novella so there could be more depth, especially more of Anna's story. But even with the short form there was still some repetition that could have been edited out. There were also a couple of words that felt very out of place: numbskull and nincompoop? Even if they aren't anachronistic they still didn't fit.

A sweet story of new beginnings. I really liked Edward and his forward thinking. He was a gentleman and very kind and thoughtful. I also liked Anna. She was forgiving and also kind, thoughtful and resourceful. A bit of adventure and romance. Really like the cover. Clean and engaging.

A great prequel to An American in Dukes Clothing. Sometimes novellas feel rushed. This one did not. Paced really well and enough time was allowed to lapse that the romance between the characters didn't feel rushed at all.

This a good read with an interesting story lines. You have a Lord's son who is seeking his fortune in America, a woman who isn't considered royalty at all, and a child who is sold to the Lord's son. There is entertainment to be had and my I terrst wax lept.

Such a cute and sweet love story! I loved the Unlikely
Match series so it was fun to see the prequel to that. No language, sweet romance, and a perfect quick read. I loved the characters and would definitely recommend it to others.
