When Lexi and Dan were sucked into the book, they left their world as they know it behind. Stuck in a strange, new place with only each other for support, Dan and Lexi begin to confide in each other. Will they settle their differences? Or has Lexi traveled back in time with the one person in Briar Creek who had always had it out for her from the very beginning? Meanwhile, Austin, Gabe, Anna, and Craig scramble to find Lexi’s father, the only person who might know how to bring Dan and Lexi home.
This book is my favourite so far. I love the idea of travelling back in time, but Lexi abandoning Dan and going off on her own pisses me off. Thankfully, all goes well, and they mend the relationship too!
Looking back on Gabe and Lexi's relationship, I now favour Dan over Gabe, as Lexi and Dan shared the time travel experience. Gabe just has too much baggage, what with Veronica and Rhonda. Lexi is better off with Dan, assuming he's still alive!
For the next book, I look forward to finding out the answer to whether Lexi ends up drinking the potion or will it land in someone else's hands. Besides, I'm also curious whether Dan and Mary-Kate will manage to return home.
There's also something suspicious about Craig, and I wonder if we'll discover what's going on with him. Last but not least, what kind of trouble will Rhonda stir up next?
Read as box set of 1 - 4 I liked these books the sucked you in I enjoyed the twist and turns. they weren't what I expected out of a vampire series, but they are worth a read if you want something different.
What I liked: -Lexi. I have a love-hate relationship with Lexi, and I was not impressed with her in the last book. However, she did grow on me once again, and I think when she’s away from Gabe and her “love” for him, she not only thinks clearer, but she ends up being a much better person. She seemed more focused throughout the course of this book, and she was far more determined to get home than I thought she would be. Her relationship with Belinda the witch was a surprisingly heartwarming, and I liked the development with her future. -Dan. I really liked his character, especially in this book. Once Lexi got over her annoying I-can’t-trust-him-or-can-I problems, their relationship grew into something real and believable. I personally think Dan is the most reliable character in the book, with perhaps the exception of Austin. I really hope Dan is featured more strongly in the rest of the series than he has been so far. Team Dan all the way. -The past. Even though I’m still very skeptical about the idea of time travel being a part of this series, I thought it was handled very well. I liked the glimpse of the past and the people Lexi and Dan met while there. I especially liked Lexi’s little attempt at explaining the future to Belinda the witch.
What I disliked: -POV. I liked the writing more when it’s told from just Lexi’s point of view. When there are three or more other point of views aside from hers, I feel like things can get easily confused and the timeline can get a little jumbled and muddy. It was a little jarring going from reading about Lexi and Dan’s predicaments to reading about Rhonda lusting after Gabe. -Writing style. There is very little emotion to these books, and I’m not sure if that’s a side-effect of the third person writing style, or if it’s just the author’s own personal writing styles. Anyways, the writing is very mechanical, and it makes me distance myself from the characters. If they’re in mortal danger and they show no emotion whatsoever, why should I? Why should I care if they die if even they don’t care? -Austin, Anna, and Rhonda. I did not like these characters at all this book, which is odd, because Austin was one of my favorites in the last one. I felt like his and Anna’s relationship is flatter than Lexi and Gabe’s, and it just kind of came out of nowhere. They’ve been dating for like three days and they’re already telling each other “I love you”? And Rhonda doesn’t seem to serve any purpose other than to get in the way of Gabe and Lexi’s relationship, and I’m sure she’ll be killed off later just for the sake of getting her out of the way.
Overall, this was the best book of the series. I enjoyed the look at a different time period, and I liked the progression of a certain relationship. I had quite a few problems with this book, but the good outweighed the bad for the most part. I would recommend this book to any hardcore vampire fans—it’s definitely worth the dollar I paid for it. 4.5
I honestly thought I was going to hate this book. The last book just made me not want to continue, but I just had to know what happened. I'm really glad I did. I have to say so far this is my favorite in the series. Lexie is a lot more likeable in this ones. There was a point in this series where I was hating her, but she totally redeemed herself.
I loved that there were so many perspectives in this story, so that I knew what was going on in the outside world as well as inside the world Lexie and Dan get sucked up into.
So many pieces of the mystery surrounding this series are solved in this book, which was great. I love how after finding out one piece of the puzzle in this series, there are still so many parts missing.
Lexie is still having boy troubles, but not as much as before, or at least different than before. I have to say I can't decide who I'm routing for at this point anymore.
There is a cliffhanger at the end that seriously left me wanting to scream. I may have said "What the freaking bleep!!!!" Seriously the ending completely left me wanting more, which I guess is the point of a cliffhanger right?
I would not, I repeat not pick up this book without reading the other 3 first. The first one is: Kiss of Death (The Briar Creek Vampires #1), Thicker Than Water (The Briar Creek Vampires #2), then Destined to Die (The Briar Creek Vampires #3), then finally Change of Fate (The Briar Creek Vampires #4. The books are on the shorter side, but filled with a multitude of suspense filled moments.
Favorite Quote: This quote reminds me of the saying "Home is where the heart is." "I'm not going to pretend that I understand because, the truth is, I don't. I still have my parents. I still have a home." He turned to Lexi and wiped away one of the tears that slid down her cheek. "But it seems to me that home is a place where you're surrounded by people who love you...people who care about you. You do have that, Lexi. There are people who care about you."
In this installment of the Briar Creek Vampires, Lexi and Dan have gotten sucked into the book. They fall into a strange world that after some investigation turns out to be Briar Creek in the 1800's. With some luck, Lexi ends up finding Albert Hunter and the witch who curses the town. Lexi must figure out a way to change the curse so that she will no longer be in danger of being attacked. She also learns to trust Dan and that maybe he isn't so bad after all.
Gabe and Austin are searching for a way to get Lexi and Dan back to their own time. Their search takes them to rescue Lexi's Dad from being kidnapped and back to Huntington. Rhonda, the vampire that Gabe accidently made, comes into some very important powers and is going to make big waves.
Briar Creek Vampires is such a great series. The Morse Sisters continue to write books full of twists and turns that make each book impossible to put down and unpredictable. One running theme of the series is the romance between Gabe and Lexi. This books injects even more obstacles in the form of Dan and Rhonda. Rhonda is just a grade a witch who is going to be very dangerous. Dan has really grown on me. I never really identified with him too much in the first couple of books really feeling like he was on the town's side and thinking Austin was insane to trust him. This book really shows a protective side to Dan which has me rooting for him.
I can't wait to see where this series will go from here. Also check out the Howl series which is another excellent series from the very talented sisters.
Gabe has been having a lot of visions and in almost all of them end in Lexi's death at the hands of the vampires in Briar Creek. They enroll in Huntington High a Vampire Hunter school in the nearby town, with the help of Anna. Lexi finds out that the "Hunters" were a line of vampire hunters. Gabe's maker is a teacher at Huntington high, Veronica Hart (Ewww). Lexi walks in on Gabe and Veronica and assumes he's cheating because his shirt was undone and she was in lingerie. I would think the same thing too I guess...and then Lexi runs to Craig??? Really??? I didn't like him and now I really don't...
So Lexi and Dan get sucked into the book and land in the 1800's. Remember, the psychic told Lexi she has to go back to understand her past but she didn't think literally...lol.. So Austin, Gabe, Craig and Anna rescue Ben, Lexi's dad, and bring him back to the school. He tries to do time travel because only 2 Hunters at a time can travel but is shut out of the book - which means 2 Hunter bloodlines are there already....Lexi and Dan? I'll leave it at that considering I don't wanna give away the whole book.... On to #5.
I loved this book! I like the series, but I was worried about how Lexis character was starting to change. Im so happy that Lexi’s character showed some pizzazz and grew up! This book was a nice change with the fact that you knew what was going on in Briar Creek, in the book, and at Huntington High.
I really liked that Lexi and Dan were sucked up into the book because they get to trust one another better. However, I still feel like Dan and Lexi just won’t cut it together. They don’t seem to truly love one another enough. Plus Lexi is always thinking about Gabe… or at least that’s how it seems. I really don’t know who I’m truly rooting for at this point because I love Dan and Gabe, but I will say normally I go for the mysterious or “bad-boy” type.
Lexi finds Albert Hunter and the witch who curses the town. Now Lexi and Dan are determined to find a way to change/ break the curse so that she will not be in danger anymore. I really can’t wait to find out more about the curse and what they will learn in the upcoming books!
The ending of the book in definitely a cliff hanger and left me wanting to read the next book immediately!!
I finally finished this book and I can honestly say I remembered why I loved the series to begin with. At first I was having a problem getting into it because there were so many different point of views in this book, however once I was able to get past that I fell right back into the swing of things. My only complaint is the ending, how can you leave me hanging like that until August :)?
i loved this book. i felt conected to the characters more and i loved their friendships/bonds. I also hate rhonda! shes a skank. and she's evil. i don't even know who i should ship lexi with because i love dan, and i love gabe too. I DON'T want Gabe to end up with Rhonda. I hope that doesn't happen and he realises he still loves lexi when she gets back. I can't wait to read the next book!

The books was great. I can't wait for the next book!! I seriously hope Dan is alive and Mary-Kate is nuts. I definetly hate Rhonda and I totally don't want her and Gabe together. Fingers cross. I hope they figure out real soon how to deal with Rhonda and her mind control over Gabe. Anyways I love the book and want to find out what happens next.

I enjoy almost all of the Jayme and Jody Morse book, and this one was no exception. In this book, you get to know Dan a little better and understand what motivates his actions in the previous books. In this book I developed an attachment to many more of the characters and truly cant wait to read the next one!
I need to kill rhonda!!!!!!!!!!! God kill her. I dont know y but I have fall for Dan. Gabe really needs to realize that Rhonda is screwing with his head. Before I jump into this book and hit him on the the head with a stake until he realizes her game.
Gabe is like the biggest idiot ever. He has the best thing happening to him and he keeps 'cheating' on her with Veronica and then Rhonda and he seems too stupid to know it's a Sire's bond... At least that's what it sounds like to me.
Best book in the series so far. Lexi grew in leaps and bounds, and the plot actually went somewhere. There was a nice surprise twist near the end, and relationships developed left and right. Well worth the dollar I paid for it.
