W-W-WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
I'm not referring to Kaname and Yuki supposedly being , because I'm 99.999 sure they aren't. (I'll explain more) I'm referring to that fact that Yuki totally with him even though she "knows" he's
Two reasons why Kaname ISN'T Yuki's
1) Kaname says to Zero "".
2) Kaname also tells Ichijo that he is the of the Kurans and that Rido is . Doesn't this then mean that Kaname is an and NOT the . Though I should note that this would STILL make Yuki and Kaname , albeit not very much, but still nevertheless .
Matsuri Hino sure knows how to throw a wrench into plot lines. So many plot twists. I kind of had a hard time taking in all of this new information. I'm really not liking where this is going . I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty confused what is happening between all the characters and their relations to each other too, but I think I figured it out...mostly.

Ok. I think I know why I was so firmly on Team Zero the first time around.
I think I'm starting to understand why I stopped reading this manga in the past. Here I was thinking this was going to be a Twilight-adjacent manga with interesting characters and story but with some violence. I'm going to try my best to put aside my "discovery" and continue on with this series. I just hope it isn't mentioned again 😅

Okay, I loved (notice the past tense) this series. It was dark and brilliant, and the artwork was amazing. I was especially interested in what was going to happen to Zero (oh my God, he just plain kicks ass, I loooove him) since he clearly loves Yuki, yet won't so anything because he thinks he's a monster. I mean, seriously, I love that kind of stuff.
I was soooo excited for this volume! But then, I read it, and I was very, very, VERY tempted to shoot Matsuri dearest.
Spoiler Alert:
What in God's name was the author thinking when she made Kaname and Yuki siblings!?!?!?! I never really liked Kaname that much anyway (he just seemed cold, or cruel or something), and then she adds this "I love you and wanna marry (and do other things to) you, sis!" crap, and I was so mad it's indescribable. What. The. Hell?!?!?! I don't really care if you're not human, Kaname, that doesn't give you the right to be in love with your sister!
And, she turned Yuki into a vampire. That really wouldn't have been too bad, if she played the cards right, but I love the whole "spunky human keeping up with the vampires" thing. Call it cliche or stereotypical if you will, I just do. But then she goes into the whole drinking blood from Kaname and it being (in my mind) a little more than g-rated, normal (as you can get anyway) blood-drinking. With her brother. Ew ew ew. And, the way she adjusts to being a vampire so easily kinda ticked me off. She's kinda-sorta been a human for as long as she can remember, yet as soon as Kaname awakens her, she goes into vamp mode. I would've liked a little more angst with that.
Everything just got so convoluted and twisted after that, it really just spoiled the entire series for me. Sorry, Matsuri, but you screwed up big time, and I probably won't be purchasing any more of this series.

Ah, another ride down Vampire Knight lane!
This one is INSANE for plot development. So much was brought forward and WOW, I totally forgot about all of this from when I read it before. But, NO SPOILERS.
Yuki's past is brought forward in Volume 8, and man is it wild! I didn't see it coming but I'm also not surprised? I'm very impressed because it does make a lot of sense... it feels planned and I like that! It's kind of weird, but this is manga so weird can be pretty normal.
I'm curious how this story will continue on for almost another ten volumes. I'm sure Matsuri Hino has something up their sleeves...
Four out of five stars.

Well, that was controversial.
Some readers are inevitably not going to get much enjoyment out of this volume and for others it's going to kill the series stone dead. For me, vampire stories ought to be about exploring the more dangerous, edgier side of human eroticism and so it's hard to deny that Hino has come up with the goods. Not only does this volume drop multiple bombshells about the main characters in the series, it's also by far the most explicit in terms of its eroticism.(not actually displaying graphic sex)
It worked for me, but I'm rating this volume one star less because some of the storytelling is starting to get a little slapdash. Whilst the artwork is strong, at times characters are unclearly defined and settings not introduced well enough and I'm occasionally confused. This slight quality drop is a shame since this volume represents the conclusion to a major story-arc, and after this point the dynamic of the narrative is completely changed in extremely interesting ways.
This series overall, though, is completely awesome .

Okay, much is revealed in this book and the story takes a turn in a direction I didn’t anticipate. I was on edge the entire time!
Yuki’s past and her true self is finally revealed, which could lead her to lose Zero forever. Commitments were made over 10 years ago that could lead Yuki away from Zero and into a life she never knew she was a part of. A war breaks out and the night students ban together to keep the day students safe.
I can’t put this manga down, so on to VK9. I love it!

Der wahrscheinlich ereignisreichste Band der Reihe... und vielleicht auch schon der Höhepunkt? Was ich noch positiv hervorheben muss: Der Verlag und die Autorin bringen sooo viele Extras in die Serie, das wirkt wirklich total liebevoll. In diesem Band gab es wieder zwei Bonus-Storys und mini-Mangastrips plus eine Kolumne von Matsuri Hino. Mehr davon!

With such intriguing characters and such potential in the story, it's really really frustrating for me to read the last couple of volumes and continually get the impression that the mangaka has no idea what she is doing. We're taken one direction and then another, and the result is confusion. I suppose the question is whether or not the confusion is intended. I like the revelations thus far in the story, and the plot is certainly unique. I just hope that it can be sustained and not dwindle into a mass of questions without answers, plot points without conclusions. The jury's out right now...

Interesting that Yuki was revealed to be a vampire and member of the Kuran line. Hope they will be able to stop Riding Kuran. Wonder what will happen with Zero and Yuki now that Yuki is a vampire.

This is where knowing how to plot and keep the tension and pace up comes into play and Matsuri doesn’t really do it justice. Then again some of the revelations in this are so unpalatable that I’m not even sure I’ll read the last volume that I got out of the library.
Yuki is suddenly and inexplicably hallucinating the more she tries to remember. Kaname steps in and unseals her memory revealing that she is in fact his younger sister and his betrothed because that’s how pure bloods do it ‘just like animals.’ Um no, Matsuri, they don’t. In fact, they drive the males out so they don’t normally. But it explains SO MUCH about Yuki. Her parents were brother and sister. She’s a complete idiot because she’s so inbred. That makes perfect sense. You would think creatures as long lived as vampires would have learned that inbreeding is never the answer, not even to keep in power. That, almost more than anything else, made both Egypt and Rome fall. I wonder also how many of the moms reviewing this on Amazon for their underaged daughters have any idea… This pretty much kills any of the romance in the story.
The rest of the volume deals with Kaname’s past and present as they intertwine in some Machiavellian resurrection plot for one of the purebloods in his line. It draws in Zero and his twin and has done for years. The problem is while gorgeous, Matsuri’s art isn’t distinctive. I can’t tell Kaname Kuran from the bad Kurans from Kaname's dad (don’t believe me look in the character notes at the end) and the story telling is so muddy that half the time you can’t follow the plot because you can’t even tell who has been drawn. I think I might be over thinking this thing.

Whoa. Just before I started this volume I've been spoiled while looking for pictures -smart mcsmartypants me- about Yuki being a pureblood. I already suspected she was gonna be a vampire by Kaname's bite but this I didn't know but thanks to that spoiler did see coming. Thankfully it was just in the beginning of the volume so I didn't have toponder on the subject for long. What I did not see coming was Yuki and Kaname being siblings -???!!!- And the fact that it was ok for siblings to marry in pureblood lineage -???!!!-
So, this volume was shock!shock! to me. I think I stared at the page with an expression quite similar to Zero's when Yuki told Zero that Kaname is her brother -???!!!-
It annoyed me to hear Yuki tell Zero the Yuki he knew is no more, that she's been devoured by the vampire Yuki. And that half smile she had, I don't know, it annoyed me. And Kaname seems more and more of an arrogant pureblood that he is. He shows signs of a jerk lately, at least thats's what I thought. My God, I still can't believe they're siblings and he still wants to marry Yuki. Hmm.

Ah, what a soap opera this series is. Yuki's backstory is revealed, but within the reveal is another hidden twist about Kaname's backstory (which I think some reviewers completely and utterly missed, given how upset they were by the surface aspect). Also, this whole series heavily draws on Japanese mythology -- if you're familiar with the story of Izanagi and Izanami, the taboos brought up in VK#8 will be a lot less shocking. But still, there are so many twists, turns, conspiracies, betrayals, and outright lies going on... don't take everything at face value in this series!

I know Yuki still cares about Zero or she wouldn't have gone to visit him, but it was an awful thing of her to say when she must have known how he would react to the change in her. That was low, regardless of why I suspect she said it. :(
And put on your darn shoes, Yuki! My grandpa would've been all over her for going outside without shoes! LOL

WHAT THE FUUUUUU....?!?!?!?!
That certainly is an unexpected, and icky twist. The story is intriguing enough that this wrench in the plot feels unnecessary. I noticed in the last volume that the storytelling felt muddled. I thought my confusion might be due to a sluggish, tired brain, but I noticed that this volume also left me feeling puzzled. It seems the devices used to create mystery are becoming so convoluted that it leaves you scratching your head rather than excitedly anticipating what's to come.
While I do feel somewhat disappointed with the shocking reveal in this volume, this has become a guilty pleasure of mine so I will continue reading. It's like a bad accident that I cannot peel my eyes away from.

August 2, 2011Whoa! Whiplash, slow down! I did NOT see that coming! So many crucial plot twists in this book! A lot of questions are answered, but the entire dynamic of the book changes. Yuki has suddenly, subtly shifted loyalties - well maybe not so subtly - and is now one basically on Kaname's team rather than Zero's. I was still trying to wrap my head around the idea that Yuki is a pureblood vampire who's vampire genetics were sealed away, as well as Kaname's younger sister, but not only his younger sister of course, but also his affianced bride-to-be from birth... and then mid-book it switches up again, and Kaname reveals that he is not Yuki's brother, but actually the progenitor of the Kuran line! Talk about information overload! I feel so bad for Zero, everytime it seems like his world can't fall apart any further, someone finds a way to add insult to injury. Now I REALLY can't tell what's going to happen! It's finally getting good - and it was great before, so you can imagine how excellent its becoming! I'm thrilled! Can't wait to read more!

This is pure trashy soap opera that repeats itself a lot from volume to volume and whose story isn't terribly consistent. Yuki sure has a way of passively getting herself into bizarre situations. I'm here for the art and to see if Zero is finally cured.

Quite a surprising revelation about Yuki's past. It will have a big impact on her relationships with both Zero and Kaname. Overall I really enjoyed this issue, but it did get a bit confusing at times.

Nyt kun on jonkin verran aikaa 7 osan lukemisesta niin meni todella pitkään päästä sisälle jälleen tarinaan eikä se oikein missään kohtaa ottanut lähteäkseen. Hyvin heikot ja epäselvät kuvat eivät ole hyvä juttu, ja testi on liian pientä paikoitellen. Kaikki henkilöhahmot näyttävät samanlaisilta ja kun ei ole värejä kuvissa niin se sekoittaa lisää kuka puhuu, mitä tapahtuu ja niin edelleen. Nopea tämä oli kyllä lukea. Tapahtumien kulkua olisi voinut hieman nopeuttaa ja bonustarinat pois. En edes tiedä miksi vielä luen näitä kun eivät selkeästi ole minulle. Joskus sitä ei vain osaa jättää kesken.

Poi il resto del volume l'ho trovato molto confusionario...spero si riprenda con i prossimi
