Quantum 7 is a work of creative fiction which explores several theories of quantum mechanics and time travel in light of recent scientific studies and discoveries. It is the first book of an intended three book series. This story follows a female protagonist as she tackles family issues, bullying, poverty and even mental illness while keeping her ability to time travel on the down low. She is joined by her two closest friends, Kozzie and Jerrod, who have their own secrets to protect.
Renee is not the media's ideal of a beautiful woman. At first glance, a casual observer could be forgiven for labeling her as plain and unimportant. Those who dismiss her as such are oblivious to the hard earned happiness and the extraordinary energy behind Renee's pain filled eyes.
Jerrod Jacobs is no such fool. He lives to achieve his grandfather's dream of unlocking the mysteries of quantum mechanics and the door to time travel. In Renee, the ambitious scientist sees the catalyst he needs to take his scientific ideas from theory to reality. When Dr. Jacobs meets Renee in an operating recovery room, he convinces her to participate in his private research program. Thinking she is involved in dream studies, Renee soon learns she is having out of body experiences and traveling through time. Her high flying adventures begin in old memories but end in exciting, new destinations around the world.
With the aid of Alasdair, a mysterious gentleman who funds the expensive operations of the research center, there is nothing to stand in the way of Jerrod's plans. He doesn't count on the interference of Renee's childhood friend, Kozzie. In an admirable effort to help her friends, Renee makes small changes to the past which unpredictably alter the future. An insignificant nobody discovers her every thought and action, good or bad, has the power to change the world...and always did.
As fan of time travel tales, this one starts very slow waiting the time travel to poke out it head. When it did, it is very sloooow. Chinese families create enemies with each other adding more tension to the saga. Finding father and son fishing stating that they are destined for great things but does not even give a clue what this is.😴😴😴 so far it is a sleeper. 😴😴😴
As both a science erudite and spiritual individual who believes in transcendence of the spirit not only post-death, but also during present life as 'out-of-body' experiences, I was pleasantly amazed by the content and scientific comprehension exhibited within this first book of the Quantum 7 (Q7) series by new author T.R. Mackie.
This first book begins to delve into the physics of time travel in not so much the conventional sense as we have already thought to explore it theoretically in movies by means of stepping into big bulky machines trembling, spinning and shaking or a giant alien ring with a viscous fluid whereby travelers jump through to different worlds and parallels of time. Instead, through these 4 main characters, this story intriguingly explores the recesses of our most simple yet most complex and uncharted machine already in existence. A proficiently adroit machine which we have very little to no insight into.... It will have you thinking and challenging your own life-long perceptions of dreams, your thoughts and time travel. All things are possible particularly within a fictional piece of work so although it is not science exact, it really does cover a far more plausible time travel theory than a clunky sputtering machine put together in some wild-haired mad scientists' lab....you know which movies and books I'm referencing!
I am captivated enough by the entire concept to read the second book of the series to see what these four characters will discover not only about the valid perception of time travel but the true natures of themselves, their families, their enemies and their allies. Regardless of any structural inconsistencies and editing flaws that need not be critiqued, this sci-fi thriller provides excellent drama, action and mystery to intrigue and satisfy the science geeks to the romantic readers and every reader in between.
I personally read this on my Samsung tablet and I did not notice any excessive typos to speak of, name inconsistencies nor any 'weird whited-out lines' that were brought up in a previous review.
I definitely recommend this entertaining read from a first time author!
I read the free Kindle edition of this book and all I can say is BOY am I glad it was free. For starters, it was full of typos, weird whited-out lines and inconsistencies in people's names. The plot was basic and underdeveloped, with a lot of loose ends that were never tied up and contrived solutions to those that were. This seemed like a first draft from a first time author. At least it was a fast read so I don't feel like too much of my life was wasted.
