I never had the opportunity to learn much on typography, aside from a copy-writing class I took in the midst of my classes as an English major. Now that I'm designing for print, this is very helpful. I got this because I wanted to switch copy, in the publications I regularly lay out, from justified to ranged left. I discovered sound reasons for either method, as well as the background and technique behind hyphenation, kerning/tracking, leading, margin, etc.

This is definitely a good start for amateur designers like myself. It taught me a lot that was omitted from my web courses and program manuals.
