In celebration of the 2012 Arnold Palmer Invitational, NBC Publishing and the Golf Channel are pleased to offer this download of Palmer’s poignant essay, “Reflections on the Game.”
The essay is featured in the new eBook, Arnold A Personal Journey by Thomas Hauser with Arnold Palmer—a stunning tribute to an American sports hero and the most intimate portrait ever of the man behind the legend. (copied from Barnes & Noble site)
I am not a golfer, but dowloaded this for my spouse who is. I decided to read this essay and found it to be a very insighful piece on golf, and how it's changed over the years. It isn't rule changes and such as in other professional sports, but the perception of who can and does play. It's not a judgemental piece, but an observation of society.
I downloaded it as a free book, thinking Don might enjoy reading this. I read it before he does, and it is only 16 pages long. This is a reprint of an article published ten years ago in Golf magazine.
Tiny little read, more a monologue but good for a freebie. Written in 1994 and interesting that Arnie predicts the Tiger age and I read it on the day of Tiger & Phil’s $9m match - Arnie’s thoughts that golf remains so palatable because it’s not sensationalized rang true there for sure.
