Things have been rocky lately for brat Jayk and his dominant partner Amon. Jayk, a college dropout, recently returned to school, while Amon, the HR director at a major financial firm, faces pressure at work. Their D/s partnership suffers as Jayk deals with his stress by acting out, and Amon deals with his by cracking down.
When Jayk and Amon wake one morning to find they’ve switched bodies, each is determined to prove he can handle his partner’s life for a day. But as the chaos builds, their swap proves more confusing, enlightening--and sexier--than they’d anticipated.

3.5 stars I picked up this book after reading Calling the Show by the same author. While the light and humorous tone is fun, the BDSM content is still a bit too much for my taste. Thus, I like it less than "Calling ..."
Let's see, what do I like? The idea of learning your partner's life by body switching. ALTHOUGH, I must say that I'm a bit baffled with how easy breezy both characters are when they realize they are switching bodies. I will FREAK OUT that's for sure. This one, they take it lightly, like they know for sure they will get back to their own body after 24 hours.
I like Jayk's chapters more than Amon's. Maybe because he is young, and he is more neurotic, and has more issues. Amon is a bit dull for me. Yes, yes, his job is stressful and he thinks Jayk is not trying enough, but I personally always don't like people being pushy like that (I think I have a rebellious issue of my own *head desk*)
I actually skim through those two chapters of Luciana Diamente’s dungeon party. I never think Jayk and Amon have issues in bedroom in the first place. It is more outside the bedroom that is the problem. So having the scenes at the dungeon party as a learning place, for each to experience the D/s from their partner's body, is not something I am looking for NOR excited to read about.
I want to believe that they understand the other better because of their experience outside -- with Jayk being Amon in the office (and interact with Amon's employees) and Amon being Jayk in the Community College (and interact with Jayk's friends).
You know those books where you're going to read just one chapter before you fall asleep? And suddenly it's 3 o'clock in the morning and your alarm is going off in 2 hours because you're on an early start, and hell, there's no point even trying to go to sleep now because you'd rather know what happens, and you'll deal with the no-sleep-zombie fallout when it happens? Wacky Wednesday is one of those books.
The premise isn't original at all -- two people who sometimes fail to see eye to eye are magically switched so that they'll learn a lesson or two about walking in the other's shoes -- but the execution is so much fun and full of such energy that it doesn't matter.
The story is told in alternating first person point of view, between the main characters of Jayk and Amon. Jayk's chapters are laugh out loud funny. I didn't expect to like Amon as much as Jayk, but I did. I particularly enjoyed how this was an established relationship -- no misunderstandings and lost phone numbers here. Here it's the everyday stuff that's getting in the way, like work and study, and not having enough time for each other.
Jayk Parker is a college student and a brat. He lives in a domestic discipline (DD) relationship with Amon Monterey a 40 year old HR Director and his top. They've been together for two years but things have been a bit shaky since Jayk has been struggling at school and Amon distracted and overwhelmed at work. After a blazing fight the men go to sleep and wake up the next day in opposite bodies à la Freaky Friday.
Part of the charm of this story for me was the simple acceptance of this bizarre occurrence and the trust in that it would only last for 24 hours.
I loved Jayk. I LOVED being in his head. He was the ultimate brat and so clever and very, very funny. I'm a fan of brats and DD fiction so reading about these men being flipped from their comfort zones and forced to see the world from each other's perspective was so much fun to read.
What started out as a bit of joke turned more serious as the men reconnect through the experience. There was a level of sweetness that just pulled me in and had me rooting for them to work things out. There was some hot chemistry between them and some really lovely flashbacks that fleshed out their history nicely without encroaching on the body flip storyline.
This was so much fun to read. Charming characters with witty, sweet banter peppered throughout. There was a bit of sidetrack into a BDSM party that wasn't really to my taste but that's a minor quibble when the rest of story just entertained the hell out of me.
4.5 but I upped it to 4.75 because the men called their cat Allen Ginspurr which amused me and Jayk called Amon Sir Toppy McDompants. I died. So freaking hilarious.
This book was a lot of fun, but not just full of fluff. I enjoyed the use of the body switch for the two MC's to spend a day in each other's shoes and the fact that they just accepted it and moved on.
Bratty sub Jayk's POV was hysterical and reading about the older, dominant Amon struggling to get through a day at community college was a joy. While the premise is nutty, the actual story was full of emotion as the couple, who have somewhat lost their footing with each other, work to gain back the trust and communication that is the basis of their relationship. In alternating chapters we get the POV of both Jayk and Amon, as well as flashbacks to the start of their relationship and some super steamy sex scenes. Looking forward to reading the next one.
I loved this, it was so creative. A good laugh-out-loud, feel good story with a really great dynamic between the MCs. Alternating pov's which was even more interesting because of the fact they were in each other's bodies. I know JA Rock had a great time with that when it got around to them having sex, very funny.
Straight to the favorites list. Yep. This one's a keeper!
Wacky Wednesday is hilarious and heart warming at the same time. I was seriously LOL'ing all over the place. The reactions the guys had to being in different bodies were funny, not over the top, and so dead bang on you could completely picture it in your head. What they learned about the other while in the switched body changed the relationship and gave new perspective.
I liked how the DD was portrayed and the fact they incorporate some regular BDSM into their lives as well. Hot sex scenes round out a great novel! MUST buy folks - it totally took me back to being a kid and reading the original Freaky Friday book!
This book is a recommendation of my lovely friend Tharayn. Thank you girl!
When Jayk wakes up on a Wednesday morning - all excited for a Dungeon Party - it’s not in his own body, but that of his partner and Dom, Amon and... vice versa.
After the first shock they think it's refreshing to step in each others shoes for some time. Jayk and Amon both think the others life is so much easier. But in the course of a day, with many hilarious and sometimes serious situations, they don't believe that anymore...
How would you feel if you wake up as your lover? That's the question of the question and our heroes are solving that problem in their own ways.
I really enjoyed this book. Jayk is so funny and I loved his carefree attitude. To see Amon give in and loosen up was more than sweet.
Wacky Wednesday is a wicked funny, enjoyable read. It’s humorous and sweet and the ending is perfect. It's my second book of this author and I definitely will be reading more of his books. The m/m book world would benefit a lot from more well written, romantic comedies like this one.
A lighthearted body-switch Dom-sub rom-com story with some heart. Jayk is a sub, student, and a good-hearted but impulsive guy. His Dom, Amon, is almost 40, and a business exec. When they wake in each other's bodies, they each think they can handle the other's life for a day, but it turns out to be harder than expected. This was lightweight but had some fun moments. **Freebie today 09/12/20 **
Jayk is a twenty-something college student and a brat. His dom, Amon, is a soon-to-be-40-year-old executive at a major financial firm. The stress and pressures of life have taken their toll on their relationship. Jayk deals with his stress by acting out while Amon deals with his by cracking down. One morning, they awake to find that they've switched bodies. As each spends a day walking in the other's shoes, they learn to better appreciate each other's struggles, challenges, wants, and needs. But most importantly, they learn why it is they fell in love in the first place.
I was a little skeptical about this body-switching story but I'm so happy I read it. It was absolutely delightful and had me in stitches from the get-go. I loved both characters. Jayk in Amon's body was too funny! His carefree attitude was so at-odds with Amon's personality, making his interaction with Amon's co-workers hilarious. It was likewise entertaining to watch Amon try - unsuccessfully - to use his methods to navigate Jayk's life (read: DARP ... Deep Breath; Assess the Situation; Reverse Roles; and Propose a Solution). The writing was tight; the dialogue fresh; and, the situations engaging.
Bottom-line: a wonderful, charming, and spectacularly funny body-switching story.
Unexpectedly funny and charming. Amon and Jayk are in a domestic discipline relationship but they've been miscommunicating more than usual lately. After a particularly rough day, they wake up in each other's bodies and hilarity ensues. The story is told in alternating first-person point of view, and Jayk's narrative is especially delightful. He's a cheeky brat, whereas Amon is the strong, dommy type. I really liked that the story drops us in the middle of an established relationship; the main characters' love for each other is never in doubt, but they're facing the kinds of problems that almost every couple goes through eventually. The book reads like a BDSM romantic comedy and I totally loved it.
Hysterical and not my usual fare. I'm in love with a cat named, Allen Ginspurr and I hate cats and yes! Gandalf totally trumps Dumbledore--Duh!!! I've never had an affinity for the switching places motif, but this was really amusing and charming and entertaining. Amon and Jayk are perfectly suited and flawed delightfully.
It would have been easier to simply talk to each other than switching bodies.... but then this surprisingly sweet (but without the dreaded Disney-effect) and lightly written, funny BDSM romance wouldn`t exist... Recommended!
I really loved this story even though D/s is soooooooo not my kink. I even had to look up the meaning of a DD relationship. Anyway, this was a fun read with a lot of laugh out loud moments.
Amusing shortish tale about hunky 39 year old top Amon swapping bodies with his svelte 24 year old brat Jayk. A sweet engaging story told alternately in the first person from Amon and Jayk's pov. Moving on to the sequel directly.
'He held out a hand. I clambered across the grass to him. And damned if he didn't squeeze all one hundred and seventy broad-shouldered hard-chested pounds of me onto his lap.'
4.5 stars. Very good kinky m/m romance about a dom and his younger sub who haven't been connecting very well recently... and then they wake up to find they've switched bodies, which definitely gives them the chance to understand each other better!
Even though this scenario has been done many times, I've never seen it quite like this. Loved the humor and there was a lot of steam and feeling as well. One of my favorite authors does it again!
This was such a fun story and a unique concept. I enjoyed reading about how each person thought they could do things better and ended up screwing up and learning a lot about the world their partner found themselves in.
I want to confetti-toss as many of these f'ing ★stars★ around like an indulgent-inebriated-f●ck-tard because that's how much I treasure humor in my life.
This made me laugh. I appreciated that.
Outstanding not to mention impressive characterization because it's not easy to do with such a short story (150+ pages) but J.A.Rock gets it done. And it's all engaging material. Even if BDSM is not your thing it won't matter much..because it's just that charming.
Although I'm no fan of paranormal/fantasy - this was simply wonderful. Give me this kind of fantasy anytime:)

February Challenge, re-read
Still love it as much as the first time that I read this . Today, I especially liked the description of the change of attitude towards each other , the more insight they got about their daily lives which they spent separated from each other , the more understanding they won .
I thought this was going to be a piece of fluff, but it was SO much more. I really was so pleasantly surprised. This was a greta read, fun, heart warming, and engrossing. I loved the MC's and secondaries. Loved!
My biggest problem with this was honestly the names.. Other than that, it was a little ridiculous, but right for the premise of the story. It is relatively erotic, but I didn't find it as d/s as I think I was supposed to.
Here’s the thing, I hate awkward…like really hate it. Anything that’s puts someone in that incredibly uncomfortable position where you just know they’re going to put their foot in their mouth or something equally as unpleasant, yeah it all makes me cringe and want to hide my eyes. The moment I started this book I knew I was going to be getting heaps of awkward. I mean heck that’s the entire premise of these sort of body swapping stories, round after round of awkward until everything works itself out in the end. Yet in spite of numerous, cringe worthy, “gah I just can’t look/read” moments I still found myself enjoying this book.
Jayk is a brat. He knows it, his partner knows it, it’s a given. But that’s the best part of being with Amon. He knows how to keep Jayk in line, he makes Jayk feel safe and secure. But sometimes Jayk wishes Amon understood that his life wasn’t that easy and that things were a struggle for him. School isn’t the easy breeze for Jayk and he does try hard it just never seems to work out quite the way Jayk would want it to. As much as Jayk loves his dominant partner, when all the stresses in his life get to be too much Jayk just gets more bratty. Still he never expected to wake up wearing the body of his hunky lover.
Amon knows he loves a brat and nine times out of ten he loves even that side of Jayk, but there are times when his own stresses get to be too much and all Amon wants is Jayk to settle down. Of course that always seems to be when Jayk’s being his worst and it forces Amon to crack down on him even harder. He knows Jayk craves that stability and yet somehow they don’t seem to be communicating anymore. He wishes Jayk could spend just one day in his shoes and see how complicated Amon’s life is, maybe then he’d understand that sometimes Amon just needs a little peace. He never really expected that wish to work and to wake up in the slight frame of his much younger lover.
Ok first of all I really liked Jayk and Amon. Large age gaps like this sometimes make me a little squicky, but somehow these two just really work together. Jayk comes across as so much of a teenager at times with his ADD and a number of his antics in Amon’s body were giggle worthy. Amon really settles him though and Jayk wants so badly for Amon to see him as the adult man he is. He just has a ton of energy and no idea what to do with it all. He’s really quite a simple guy and doesn’t need/want a lot of things for himself other than Amon.
Amon on the other hand, boy does he need to learn to let go a little bit. He’s lost sight of how to be a good Dom to his Sub because of how much stress he’s putting on himself. His rigid need to control everything actually has more of his world spinning out of control than even he realizes. Strangely enough Amon feels more lost than Jayk ever could. Jayk knows himself very well he just doesn’t know how to make Amon happy as easily as he would like. Amon tries too hard to right everything in his world and when the world doesn’t conform he just tries harder.
Seeing these two deal with the stresses of each others lives was mostly fun, but man those awkward moments had me all twitchy, most especially when of course everything they’re trying to do for the other one comes crashing down around their ears. Sure I know that in this type of story there’s not going to be any long term repercussions, but it still makes me super twitchy and if it was a movie I’d be squeezing my eyes shut and covering my ears until the awkward had passed. Yeah, I’m weird scary doesn’t do anything to me, but give my gross uncomfortable social awkwardness and I’m the kid who can’t watch. :-p
All together this is a fun little story that follows pretty much the lines you would expect from a swapping bodies story. I liked the characters a lot and the writing is very solid. It’s a fun, quick little read and proves the author is definitely worth going back to. ☺
So, ya know how I like to include examples to demonstrate an author’s writing? Well, if I did that here, you’d be getting the first six pages of this story. Instead, here’s a passage from the middle of that sixth page, from Jayk’s point of view:
I thought I’d put age five almost twenty years behind me but apparently not. Apparently I was such a piss-poor excuse for an adult that Amon didn’t think twice about humiliating me in front of my newly sworn nemesis.
This scene is taking place in an office. A room filled with HR type people. A situation that normally screams for some humor but never gets it because, ya know, HR. Well, Rock says screw that, I’m setting this squabble twixt Jayk and Amon amongst office working people.
Meanwhile, the premise of this story is in the title. The execution is wonderfully brilliant in its humor, truth, and heart, and the imperfections inherent in all of these things.
Bonus awesomeness: we get this adventure in hilarity and heart from both Jayk and Amon’s points of view. To summarize, that’s Jayk as Amon, Amon as Jayk, as themselves, in each other’s bodies. Rock must have some serious smarts to keep track of this and have it all work, because it does.
As someone who is a scant number of years north of forty, I was able to enjoy this from both views. I remember what it felt like to be 24, newish into the world, and having a clue was a challenge I faced most days. And, obviously, I know what it’s like to be forty, not old (at all!) and yet old enough to look back on those twenties and think, oh my goodness, was I really that young and unaware and unsettled? I so enjoyed the equal opportunity chuckling thanks to both Jayk and Amon.
Rock has figured out how to display out here in the open what resides inside. Bringing the depths of the incredibly personal to the surface is tough. How does she do that? Sometimes I found myself sitting still, mesmerized by the raw intimacy I was witnessing, and recognizing, and loving.
Storytelling magic, which is so a thing, happens when you mix characters who know each other very well and an author who knows them just as well. Yup, storytelling magic be happening here. Jayk and Amon reminded me to try and put myself in someone else’s shoes, their mind and heart, even when not necessary, when not in crisis solving mode. I might just find even more to love, and remember why I love them and they love me.
What did I want my reflection to know? That we were both necessary. That the pain and stress of life was something we could share, like a home, like an income, like a future. Any time one of us tried to selfishly clutch his burden to his chest, the other had to be ready to tug his arms away and make him give it up.
Humor, heart, and truth: the trifecta of Rock’s storytelling talents. Add in dialogue that translates into a naturally rhythmic pace, entertaining supporting characters, and incredibly sexy spanking, flogging, and biting, and you know you’re going to enjoy this book again and again. And again.
J.A. Rock writes a perfect bratty sub -IMO, and this book is no exception. I have had a few issues with BDSM-themed books, and couldn't figure out why. It turns out that I love the DD relationships, but are having trouble seeing what a slave-like D/s relationship -where the sub caters to every whim of the Dom- gives the sub. (This is completely my ignorance and personal preference!)
So in this one Jayk and Amon have been in a DD relationship for 2 years. Amon is the HR boss in a large firm and Jayk is a college-dropout, though he is back in college, thanks to Amon strongly encouraging him to re-enroll... Their relationship has been great from the beginning, though the DD-aspects of it was new to Jayk -the quintessential brat- when they got together. But after an employee quit, Amon has been working more, and his patience with Jayk has been slipping. Jayk on the other hand is struggling with college, and he's acting out but not getting the support their relationship is built on, from Amon. These two do not communicate and their relationship is suffering. One night after an argument and a DD-scene that leaves a lot to be desired (none of them get anything out of it) Amon makes a wish: I wish he knew how it was to be me... And boy do they get their wish!
When they wake up the next morning they have switched bodies (this was sort of weird, but it was a fun way for the MCs to learn to communicate.) Jayk takes this news with a VERY cool head, and he sees this as his chance to be 'on-top' (brain-wise and respect-wise) for a change. He heads into Amon's job, and chaos ensues... This guy was SO much fun, but he seriously needed a keeper! Amon doesn't believe the body-switch in the beginning, but when he does, he plans to get a hold of Jayk and make him go home again! However his conscience makes him go to Jayk's class and his job.
On this 'journey' in each other's bodies they truly learn about the other, and the things they experience really underline the proverb: “Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes." I loved the characters in this one, Jayk's friends and Amon's employees were a great tapestry for the story. I loved the development in their relationship, and that they both realised that being together takes work and communication! And thank you, for making -especially- Amon apologise, he had been shirking his responsibilities in regards to the DD parts of the relationship, that he introduced. I sort of wish this book could have been written without the body-switch, because it seemed quite misplaced, since it was the ONLY thing of supernatural-hokey-pokey that was used. BUT the rest of the book was fun and giving and a perfect example of 'waking up' and fighting for your relationship. This will definitely be a re-read for me.
