Dr Amantha Imber is an Australian organisational psychologist, with a highly ranked business podcast – How I Work – where she shares the habits of highly effective people.

This is a practical non-fiction read about productivity, with the intention of ‘achieving more in less time, with less stress and hopefully greater joy’, by becoming ‘time wise’. Many habits, rituals, strategies and hacks are offered throughout this book, relating to topics including self-talk, decision-making, digital distractions, priorities and connection.

There is certainly immense privilege required for some of these suggestions, although overall there were many valuable takeaways and would be a beneficial read for anyone interested in personal productivity.

I found the book was repetitive at times and some points felt too obvious. I also expected the book to have a more general approach to time management and it was largely focused on managing meetings and emails which at the moment I can’t relate to but I get how those tips could be useful for someone who’s currently working. I liked the author’s casual tone as it made the book easy to read. I will definitely be trying out some of her tips this year. I also liked how she organized the book in sections making it easy for readers to focus on what they truly feel they need to improve.

Time Wise by Amantha Imber is an insightful, practical guide to making the most of our time. One of the things I loved most about this book was its perfect balance between brevity and comprehensiveness. Each section is concise yet packed with valuable content, making it easy to digest without feeling overwhelmed. The structure of the book allows readers to quickly grasp key concepts while still offering enough depth to provoke thoughtful reflection.

A standout feature for me was the “Put It Into Action” summaries at the end of each section. These actionable takeaways are incredibly helpful for consolidating what you've learned and putting it into practice right away.
