A citizen. An assassin. A weapon. Only the strongest will survive.
In the midst of country-wide collapse, a new city is emerging, but Raven is beginning to understand that being free of one government doesn't ensure her safety. Crushed under the weight of a disturbingly corrupt council, she begins to question how much control she really has.
Riley thought she had left the life of a killer behind, but as she hits a new low, the only way to line her pockets and save her friends is to take up a knife again. With the past haunting her every move, will she have what it takes to be a ruthless assassin?
Karissa is about to take on the mission she has prepared all of her life for - ridding Britain of Inferiors and taking back the land. But lies begin to unfold and she is about to see that some of the truth may have been withheld from her.
Hayley Anderton is an author, reader, baker and crazy cat lady, born and raised in the North West of England. She strives for diversity in her writing, and believes that books can change the world. She graduated from John Moores University in 2017, and is now searching for her next adventure.
A super series so far, absolutely riveting. Our characters are not doing as well as they had expected. Riley is back where she started in the pit, having to fight for her life. Raven has had her worst nightmare happen to her, her brother has been taken from her, she has looked after him for most of her life. Karissa thought her brother was her worst enemy, but she has another, more dangerous one. Totally recommend.
This author can write nothing bad.. I SWEAR! Book three in her series and it was so good! Dark takes hold of the group and now I feel like these girls are my friends.. having their POVs was so nice!
I know a book is good when I devour loads of it without any distractions. I didn't realise how much time had went by - I even forgot about a cup of tea
It's book three so no spoilers, however I loved this. So much action!!
Karissa's story is so intriguing!!!! I really want to know what will happen next - I can't wait until May!!!
Riley is certainly intriguing and I deffo felt conflicted about her situation, as much as she did by the sounds of it! Probably the most brutal storyline for this book.
Raven has my heart and I'm always so on edge for her, something happened in this one which I've been dreading happening to her so I'm super invested in how that will play out....
No surprise that I loved another Hayley book. I love her stories and writing style. If you like dystopian worlds and strong female characters, this series is for you. The books are not too long either so you can basically devour them....which you probably will, unable to look away from all the chaos of this scary world!
The Last Girls on Earth by Hayley Anderton, a five book series dystopian tale set in a future Britain plagued by overpopulation, poverty, and political unrest. The story centres on three protagonists: Raven, a thief; Riley a cage fighter; and Karissa a soldier. Their journeys are distinct yet interconnected, offering unique perspectives on survival in a fractured world.
The author’s writing is sharp and immersive, creating a vivid and unsettling vision of a reality not too far removed from a possibility if I’m being honest. The narrative’s fast pace keeps the tension high, making it difficult to put the book down.
The characters are compelling, with diverse backgrounds and struggles that add depth and relatability to their stories. The interplay between individual struggles and the larger societal issues enriches the narrative, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking.
Overall, The Last Girls on Earth is a gripping, thought-provoking read. Highly recommended if you love fast-paced, character-driven dystopian stories that offer a mix of action, emotion, and social commentary.
Greed is the third book in The Last Girls on Earth series by Hayley Anderton. Greed takes Riley, Karissa, and Raven down dark paths this time around. They may have to end up doing things they never wanted to do in order to survive and save their people. Their world is about to take a different turn but will it be the right turn? Can they save themselves and their people?
Greed pulled me into its depths just as far and as hard as the first two books Sloth and Gluttony. Greed like the first two books is told from different points of view. We get to see the world through more than one character's eyes. I like stories like this as I do get more of what is going on.
The world-building on this one was just as great if not better than the first two books. I sorely love the world that was created for The Last Girls on Earth. I love all the characters. I feel as if I have known them all my life. I felt as if I was a part of their world. Oh, and what an amazing world it is.
These three girls are strong in more ways than they will ever know. They do whatever it takes to get the job done and take care of their people. I can’t wait to read more about The Last Girls on Earth. I am anxiously waiting the next book in the series Wrath.
I love this world so much that I highly recommend that you grab a copy of Greed today!
Another cracker! This was super short and easy to read. While I find myself not particularly liking all the main characters, seeing their development throughout the books so far has been brilliant and I'm thoroughly invested in this story. Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
There's something about the way this series is written that totally has a hold on me. I've become very invested in the main characters, particularly Raven, but Karissa and Riley's storylines have also grabbed my attention, especially in this book. I don't want to spoil anything since this is the third book in the series, but the heightened tension and stakes leading up to the ending have left me eagerly anticipating book four.
I have been a big fan of this author for about a year now after we connected on instagram and I am so glad.
this series is full of powerful, bad ass women all in different life situations fighting their own battles- no matter how different they are. we watch them as they struggle for power and control, and they’re all super enjoyable to read about. we even have amazing LGBTQ representation throughout (lesbian women and asexual individuals)
this series all has super short and snappy books which makes them so easy to get through, and even though they’re short the world is still super fun and detailed. I love the multiple POVs, how you get to see different sides of the war/world and I always look forward to jumping right back in.
If you’re looking for short dystopian / LGBTQ books, 1000% check these out
The third book in the Last Girls on Earth series does not disappoint. The story continues to follow Riley, Raven and Karissa as they continue to meet new challenges in their dystopian, dysfunctional world.
The plot is gripping, their challenges are getting more and more disturbing, and you find yourself hoping they can just catch a break!
I’m really enjoying the style in which these short books are written. They’re long enough to hook you and get you invested in what’s going on, but short enough that you don’t get overwhelmed with all the bad stuff happening.
I highly recommend this dystopian book and series!
In the next instalment of TLGOE, I found myself unable to put this book down and read it in one sitting! Greed continues seamlessly from Gluttony, with Riley making true on her deal with the mysterious owner of the casino, Red, to save herself and her friends from life on the streets. Karissa and Team Nine are preparing for war, with Karissa making a bold choice of who to trust as her deputy. Meanwhile under Roger’s regime, Raven is doing everything she can to keep her younger brother safe; but who can she really trust?
I can’t wait to see what delights Anderton has in store for us in Wrath!
This series is addictive, I couldn't put this one down and I'm not surprised as Anderton's writing is beautiful. The world is getting darker the threat is getting closer, my heart was in my mouth and I wont spoil a thing. All you need to know is that you must read this series.
New threats emerge very close to home in this incredible third instalment in the Last Girls on Earth series!
The incredible character growth continues in this entry into the series but the focus of this story is the new growing threats! Raven is fighting the gangster that has taken over the shelter…Riley is now an assassin who is just trying to keep her friends safe and Karissa, well Karissa is becoming powerful in her role as team leader!
This book in the series is by far my favourite. It is an action packed book with so much heart at the centre. There is an abundance of fear and nervousness throughout which brings a whole new dynamic feel to the series.
Hayley Anderton is a fantastic author and I cannot wait for the series to continue soon in Wrath!!
Another one sitting read, the author truly has us becoming invested in the main characters.
Raven, is now a lower class citizen after she thought she was moving into the posh school to at least be in with a chance of life after a tyrannical government condemned the poor to death. However, she knows hope is now dwindling after jumping from the fire and into the frying pan. Roger has proclaimed himself the new leader of the underdogs and things are becoming worse. Some are starting to become sick with flu and these poor souls are being isolated on the upper floors. Things take a turn for the worse when her brother is taken away and Raven has no say in the matter.
Gambling never pays off, and Riley finds she has lost everything. To protect her friends she takes on the job of assassin but it is slowly driving her to drink. Will this all go bottoms up too?
The so called X-Drug is giving Karissa strength and now overconfidence verging on cockiness. But she is having weird dreams and when she looks in the mirror she cannot believe how ill she is beginning to look. However, war is here at last and Team Nine are about to board the airship to England to win back the land the girl has been training to reclaim since childhood. So keeping her friends close and her smirking enemy closer the group embark to a multitude of cheers from the elite and her mentor Captain Strauss. The woman who might just have tampered with the strength-giving X-Drug.
Right I'm flying off myself to download Book 4 but I'm wondering what will be next, after all the books appear to be named after the SEVEN Deadly Sins.
This is book three of ‘The Last Girls on Earth’ series. It continues the stories of three girls (Raven, Karissa, and Riley) who are finding their own ways of getting by in a crazy, dystopian world.
What I love about this series is each book is short so you can get through them quickly, they get better and more informative as the series progresses, and you really feel like you get to know the three main protagonists.
In ‘Greed’ we see Raven struggling as the safe haven she’s helped to create for her and her brother, Jonah, has come crashing down now that a tyrant, Roger, has taken control of the facility. Roger is greedy, power hungry, and will take down anyone who tries to get in the way of his cruel vision for how things should be. How can Raven take down such a man when anyone who tries is taken into quarantine and never seen again? Her section ends with her brother taken and her safe haven under attack! I can’t wait to see how this unfolds in the next book.
Karissa, now leader of a team preparing for war against the Inferiors, is becoming consumed by her own desire for respect and power. She has the Y drug flowing through her veins, unaware that Strauss knows its destructive power and how it can kill her. Will she survive the war as well as this drug? Only time will tell!
Riley is now a paid killer, but when she refuses to kill a child her final chapter ends with her thrown back into the Pit. Can she survive another fight? Or will her refusal to kill a child result in her own death?
Overall, this was a great continuation of the series which leaves you keen to keep going! The best book so far in my opinion.
As predicted this third book in the Last Girls On Earth series was an action packed continuation that follows our three FMCs Karissa, Riley and Raven.
This book picks up immediately after book two. Whilst I loved the fact it jumps straight in, I would've liked some reminders or small recaps just to jog the readers memory since a lot happened in Gluttony.
I really enjoyed seeing Karissa lean into her 'villainous' side, she's becoming more and more the perfect soldier whilst helping the villain of the series; Captain Strauss. Seeing Riley back to her old ways was interesting, I felt really bad for her. Raven, my favourite character, is just trying to keep her brother alive whilst raise a rebellion.
I loved the character dynamics in this book, it seems like everything is going wrong for the girls and the world is literally against them. The sibling relationship Raven has with Jonah was heartwarming to see, and the romance with her and Logan was sweet.
I liked seeing more of the crazed jumpsuiters in this one, and I'd say this is definitely the darkest book in the series. It was action packed yet did feel a little slow at times, but the build up was intense and exciting, it felt like the beginning of the end.
The ending leaves on a massive cliffhanger for all the girls, I can't wait to see Riley fight in the Pit again, find out how Raven saves her brother and watch as Karissa go to war.
The author is on form with this instalment as the plot continues to thicken!
Raven struggles with Roger's new regime, but she reaches her breaking point when Jonah is 'quarantined' away from the group, which no-one has returned from alive. She conspires to overthrow Roger, however she finds a potential unlikely ally in Drew, Roger's boyfriend, who claims to have his own plans to change things...
Riley's continuous, grisly work as a hired assassin catches up to her when she proves unable to assassinate her child targets. Her employer punishes this failure by throwing Riley back into the fighting pits once again, promising to grant her her freedom if she succeeds, but her odds don't sound good against the opponent that awaits...
Karissa boldly chooses Elliott as her second in command, despite their growing mutual enmity, with their tug-of-war for control intensifying just as Team Nine prepare to begin their war against the inferiors...
The Last Girls on Earth: Greed has taken us further down this dark path. Anderton does a fantastic job of repainting England in Dystopian hues, throughout the entire series, and giving our MCs these backstories that are each tragic in their own ways.
Karissa's arc is very intriguing, and I feel the betrayal will do her in, and what is the deal with Elliot? I'm excited to see which way she falls in Wrath.
Raven is an amazing character. He greatest fears are coming to the front this go around.
Riley is probably my favorite out of the three girls. She made it out of the pits, then found herself in a truly difficult position. Riley has one of the most brutal storylines of this series.
I found Raven to be a bit repetitive this time around, but I suppose that is to be expected in her predicament.
The Last Girls on Earth books are short but packed full of thrilling information; they are fast-paced and contain minimal romance.
It was great to see how the girls are doing and what's happening in their world in this book.
Raven's chapters in this book had a very interesting end, I did not think we would get to that in this book so that was really cool to see and I can't wait to see how they handle that in the book.
Riley's chapters made me mad, I was just mad at everyone, her boss, her friends, everyone. Without giving spoilers, I'll say her chapters go how you think they will but also not. I am very excited to see how things go for her in the next book because with how things ended for her in this one, I think her chapters may be favourite ones next time.
Karissa's chapters...A lot happens, I really don't know how to talk about her chapters, she does well in getting her team together and things seem like they might go somewhat well for her but she has odd dreams that seem like things could possibly go horribly wrong, so that'll be fun to read in the next book.
This is the third book in the last girls series, and I have to say it’s my new favourite! In-fighting between Raven & Roger, Riley & Red, Karissa & Elliott increases the tension between all the other characters in these factions, as they each sit at a point in this triangle of a dystopia not knowing who the victor will be…
With hunger prevalent, resources becoming more and more scarce and the danger growing from all sides… we’re left on 3 cliffhangers at this end of this novella, wondering who can possibly make it to the next instalment!! I’ve been on Team Raven 🐦⬛ for the last two books, but I have to say Karissa was the most intriguing this time around, and Riley is struggling with the gamble of being a blade for hire…
A quick and exciting read for fans of YA fiction/dystopian worlds… Awaiting Book 4!!!! 📕
My only complaint is that this book was far too short! I was once again immediately and completely pulled into this world, and the lives of the three young girls, and then abruptly had to leave again before I was ready. Three girls, in such very different circumstances, all trying desperately to survive and protect those they care about in a world that doesn’t value them. I look forward to spending more time with Riley, Karissa and Raven and hope that the next book comes out far sooner than currently scheduled.
The book moves at a very fast-pace, has no “spice” and very minimal romance. Highly recommended.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
These books may be short but they are definitely page turners! I was able to read all three in a day and a half an now I'm eagerly awaiting book four!!
The story was set in a dystopian Britain, which, sadly be a little bit too realistic. Overpopulation, a huge division between rich and poor and a desperation to do anything to survive.
Each of the three girls are distinctly unique from the others. Their circumstances vary through no fault of their own. And throughout the three books you could see their character development as the plot reaches new levels of desperation.
This is a series I'm deeply invested in now, and I can't wait to see what happens next!!
I am dying for book 4 to come out because stuff is getting NUTSSSSS. I still love the 3 POV because you get a really good feel for a range of what is going on but from some really interesting perspectives. You can tell one of them is on the opposite side but you find yourself rooting for her too. Each story has progressed in tandem with the others which is really hard to do and really impressive and they're all kind of getting to a breaking point that leaves us wanting book four like right the heck now!
Following on from book 2, this one amps up the fact that the world has basically given up on itself and the people need a do-over.
Raven is the character I feel most akin to, she's the mother in all of us, looking after her little brother while also fighting for all the downtrodden people who don't have a voice.
Karissa is coming into her own and making it known to the whole team while Riley is going down the dark path of the rabbit hole. I'm not sure she's going to make it out of there!
This series is on my mind every single day, and has been for the last ten years. I put everything into writing these characters, and I feel as though I know them like real people. Their story this time is darker than ever, and the next book will lead on to darker places still, but my girls stay resilient through it all. I can't wait for you all to see what they get up to!
Let's start with Logan—what a cute guy, I absolutely adore him! Besides his sweetness, this book took a very dark turn. My heart goes out to Karissa, Raven, and especially Riley—she's just trying her best, and everyone seems so ungrateful. It's tough to see them all struggle like this.
I'm eagerly awaiting Karissa's journey into the world. Something tells me she's in for a rude awakening when she discovers her entire life has been a lie. The anticipation is killing me!
Book 3 of the series picks up where we last left our girls and things are certainly looking dark. It's another short read about the different aspects of this gritty dystopian world and I can't wait to read the next installment. I enjoyed reading this as part of the indie visible tour.
What an amazing continuation to the series! Each of the girls have their stakes increased so far and it leaves for such a thrilling and compelling read. And the point it's left off at... It makes me want it more!!
