Mimesis is a collection of poems that explores the proposition, or idea, that art, creation, and thought is produced through imitation and resemblance of nature. The purpose of these writings is to understand the relation of the author and reader to the physical world, culture, and the concept of beauty. It is man’s endless pursuit to investigate the puzzles of our world, wherever he finds his muse and how he comes to comprehend it.
One of the first things I found most noticeable about MIMESIS was that it showcased beautiful language and a real respect for the art and craft of writing. I can be a bit of a jaded and (very, at times) cynical person when I peruse most of the modern day commoditized fiction bestsellers, most of which do not really showcase good/original/memorable writing at all.
Commodification has an element that reflects homogeneity and "sheeple programming." The best antithesis to "stuff like that" is "stuff like MIMESIS"--something non-exploitative, something sincere, original, that's, well, good art.
Good art, I think, requires some amount of independent thought to be fully appreciated. There is no need for any hype to bring out (or create) the essence/message/etc of the piece of work.
This realness and understated strength in MIMESIS is something that would appeal to poetry lovers, and I kind of took or experienced the journey of reading MIMESIS as a celebration of Andrako's wonderful individuality (which I, as the reader, responded to positively by appreciating my own identity and experiences also). It is good to know that intelligent/inspired/high-quality work/art like this still exists in our hopeless era (of pervasive media hype combined with a "narcissism epidemic" which leads to aggression, materialism and shallow values). It reminds me that there is more to this world than the sheeple conglomerate, which wishes to homogenize everything/everyone for nothing more than profits.
"Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known," the great Oscar Wilde once said.
Perhaps the most important thing about MIMESIS is that it serves as a tangible reminder to all artists, creators, and writers out there--to stay focused on their original work, celebrate each other's works + making it known to the greater populace--and to keep fighting the good fight.
