In Shadows of he past, we are given insight into Analise Michaels' life growing up, before we meet her in Shadows of Destiny (the first book of the 'Shadows of Destiny' Saga).
From the time she became aware of her ability to talk to spirits and angels, she learned that she had to be secretive about 'being different' from the other kids. Her special abilities caused kids to ridicule her, foster parents to send her back to the county & in all, make Analise a very unhappy child.
Until, that is, Rose takes her in, and between Rose and her 'special' angel Constantine, they guided her in developing and understanding her abilities, both in communicating with the spirits, and with astral projection. With the enlightenment comes strength, and Analise grows into the young adult that we meet in Shadows of Destiny.
A wonderful read, and the book really gives the reader a great insight into what makes Analise tick. I strongly recommend that anyone read this book if you enjoyed book 1. I'd say that this could easily be read first, as well, but whatever you do, you simply MUST read the entire Saga by this very talented author!
