Rate this book
The road to love is paved with assets and liabilities.

Certified Public Accountant Antonia Castellón is a family-oriented, results-driven, number cruncher. Her mission is find a good husband who will please her traditional Cuban family.

Disappointed by mainstream dating opportunities that never pan out, she designs her own nine-week dating program, Audited Financial DatingTM (AFD), proclaiming herself its founder, president, and first client.

AFD’s premise is simple—hold yourself accountable until you find the man of your dreams. But having been burned in a steamy love affair with an international bachelor she can’t have a future with, Antonia has another hard and fast rule for all men must be deeply rooted in her hometown of Miami, Florida.

That is, until her family is struck with tragedy, and the one man Antonia least expects is there to pick up the pieces.

Now, Antonia finds herself at the end of her program with a tough choice to make, and three different men tugging at her heart.

Can any of these men be the love of Antonia’s life, or just more debits on her romance balance sheet? Whoever she chooses, will she find herself auditing her final decision?

Set in Miami, Florida, in the 2010s, Antonia’s AFD chronicles will quickly take you down an emotionally complex, funny, and poignant path of love, loss, friendship, multifaceted family dynamics, and the bonds which unite us all.

As a Cuban Miami girl, I related to this book in so many ways and enjoyed seeing my city and culture represented in such a vibrant way. I loved seeing Antonia’s relationships with her friends and family but while I loved the concept behind the audited financial dating plan and liked the thought that went into planning each date I unfortunately did not care for any of the romantic interests and felt like they were a minor subplot and paled in comparison to the rest of the dynamic characters. Nevertheless, I enjoyed seeing Antonia grow and mature and the ending of the book was very bittersweet and it was overall a great read. Looking forward to seeing what else this debut author writes in the future!

A fun light read. As a Miami native born to Cuban parents, so much of this book resonated with me and made me smile. Antonia’s relationship with her mom was my favorite story line. So beautiful! Her mothers words to her just pierced through my heart and had me teary eyed. I reread them a couple of times and wanted to imprint them in my memory. Being a new mom, they were the best way to describe how much you love your children and can only hope you’re doing the best for them.

On another note, I found the book WAY spicier in the end than in the earlier encounters. It left me wondering if that was intentional or not as it was kind of unexpected. I did find myself getting attached to each of the relationships (or situationships) Antonia had so It was difficult to pick a side but ultimately I’m glad it was the person it was.

Lastly, two things I couldn’t figure out. 1.) the purpose of Antonia’s siblings. I felt like Antonia’s relationship with her parents was so beautifully tight that the twins were a total afterthought for me. 2.) Thomas’ broken English. I found it a little distracting especially given the passionate relationship they had. I couldn’t help but feel like it took away from those moments of vulnerability and as an aspiring doctor, it just didn’t make sense to me that his English not be a bit more refined. I think just having a very strong accent instead would’ve been my preference.

When I picked this book, I was looking for something fun to read, and then I discovered that it was so much more than a story of a young lady looking for love. This book made me want to book a flight to Miami and hug my loved ones a little tighter. It was a special read that made me laugh and cry. Enjoy!

Great Book!! Exciting, Surprising, and Fun!!! Highly Recommend!!!

Great story and fun mix between career, love, and culture. A coming of age story that ponders on the legacy of Cuban immigration to Miami and the generation that looked for love and success, trying to make their immigrant parents proud. A fun read that is easy to get hooked on. Definitely a writer that I will follow from now on.

I felt as though the beginning was a bit slow for me but then it picked up. I liked that I hadn't read a book exactly like this. Antonia using AFD for dating was amusing and clever.

Audit to Love makes you realize just how unique Miami truly is! The descriptions of the food, scenery and culture are captured perfectly and it does a fantastic job at making you feel like you're in Miami yourself. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat as you try and predict what Antonia will do next! You will laugh, you will cry, but most importantly, you will love this incredible work of literature for all it has to offer.
