Discover your talents. Embrace your destiny. Take charge.

In REINTRODUCTION, the Elementals—Ryan, Erin, Kris, and Jason—left the old world and its rules behind, embracing a dubious new reality where they exhibit supernatural control over the elements wind, fire, water and stone. In RELEASE, the 4 teenagers join a motley crew of rebels in pursuit of the Wind Diamond, an Elemental gem that promises to boost Ryan’s wind talent to the next level, in hopes of taking the fight directly to Devidis, the evil emperor who cast the world into its post-apocalyptic state. As leader of the inexperienced team, haunted by his inability to make sense of his powers, can Ryan keep his friends from being captured, or worse, by the black-clad, gun-toting Devidisians as the Elementals navigate cities, frontiers, and high seas brimming with cutthroats and thieves? LEGEND OF THE ELEMENTALS continues...

Kyle Timmermeyer has been a writer and lover of adventure for as long as he can remember. When he gets old and starts going senile, he will probably have been an English teacher and world traveler for as long as he can remember. He may also start to consider himself a turnip, and reminisce fondly about the Great Vegetable War. In addition to LEGEND OF THE ELEMENTALS, he has written far too much about the dimwitted superhero Bucketman.

What worked: We're introduced straight away to a really cool fight scene with a baddie called Devidis who kind of gave me the heebie-jeebies. Ryan, Jason, Kris and Erin are very likeable characters who are dealt a hand that they just have to get on with. If you were realised that you had superpowers or "talents" wouldn't that just be freaking amazing? Well thankfully with the Elementals, they were very careful and controlled with their talents. There's nothing more frustrating than having a superhero running around like an idiot thinking he's the bee's knees! The majority of the first book is spent getting to know the characters and getting to know their talents but at the same time, Kyle Timmermeyer paints a really vivid picture of the surroundings.

In the second book, they are on a proper mission and bespectacled Ryan is nominated as their Leader! My favourite parts were definitely the fight scenes: those kids sure know how to flip their way out of a tight space. There's a sneaky little theory in there that made me think "Ok, didn't see that one coming at all," but it's left up to the Readers imagination as to whether it's true or not.

What irked: Quite often they were referred to as "The Stone Elemental" or "The Fire Elemental" which I felt kind of de-humanised them and distanced the characters from me. Also, being a shorter book, the pace is quite quick so you really have to pay attention to detail!

Unfortunately, I'm sick so I found myself having to go back a page to check what was going on and who was where.

Recommended to: Definitely fans of Science Fiction and superhero powers. You have the opportunity to start on a fresh, unique new series that will definitely pique your interest.

Wow. Man I wish I was Erin right now... You got that right, I'm fawning over Ryan, aka Whisper. I'm a dork like that. :)
Anywhom, this book was absolutely PHENOMENAL, though too short for me. I like reading, and i blow through books fairly quickly. I started reading around 7:30 PM and now it is 11:30 PM. See? The plot was amazing, and i love how there are an abundance of new characters, but not too many. This book = pretty good read. No, AWESOME read. :)I'm still crushing on Whisper, but in a fight, Erin would win. Hands down.
Great book!

As I hoped, book 2 was great. My only problem is that it was to short! It has a non-stop storyline and is well written. I like the way each character's attributes contribute to the story as a whole, especially Ryan's character. You can see how each confrontation helps him build his abilities, talent and as a leader, until the epic ending where he comes out full force and just...ok, not going to spoil the end here. You'll just have to read it to find out!
