Even the best teachers can have an oopsy day. Sometimes things just don't go their way.
Uh-oh! Mr. Bungles drips jam on his tie at breakfast. His students play a trick on him at school. And the class hamster, Nibbles, escapes from his cage! Mr. Bungles and the class chase Nibbles through the halls and into town. But can they catch the hamster?

Oopsy, Teacher is a story about their teacher Mr. Bungles and the many mistakes that were made in and out of the classroom. This books helps students realize that if it is ok for their teacher Mr. Bungles to make mistakes then it is certainly fine for them to learn from mistakes too.
This is a wonderful book that I would recommend for any teacher for students of any age. Children constantly worry that they need to be perfect and take them selves so seriously especially around their peers. Children believe that if they are not then others would look down at them. What this story does is to allow children to feel that it is acceptable for them to make mistakes and thay realize that no one is perfect. Their teacher Mr. Bungles makes mistakes fun.
What makes this book so fantastic is not only the story line, the wonderful rhymes, positive story but the illustrator Sachiko Yoshikaua makes us laugh at the fun time that the teacher and children are having. The colorful pictures along with the whimsical details make a perfect fit between any book that is a collaboration between Stephanie and Sachiko.
Teachers and Parents this is one of the must have books that should be on your shelf!! It will be so popular that you will have to have several so that the children will not fight over whose turn it is to read and whose turn it is to turn the page.
Stephanie Calmenson has written another fun "school" story. This rhyming book describes the troubles a teacher, Mr. Bungles has one day. The story incorporates some realistic oopsies as well as silly events through the school day. The story is written in rhyme and the layout allows for a read-aloud presentation letting the students fill in the final rhyme on each page. There are visual clues and the text is large enough with that final rhyming words that students could read it in a small group presentation. The illustrations are typically bold and bright and will engage young readers. This is also why the book works so well as a read-aloud. I will be buying this one for my collection!!
The aptly-named Mr. Bungles is having one of THOSE days. From the moment he wakes up and bumps his head, things go awry. His bad luck follows him to school where he accidentally sets free Nibbles, the class hamster. Off the students and Mr. Bungles go, trying to catch their fast-moving pet. Young readers will enjoy the rhyming text, vividly-colored illustrations and how the author leaves a sentence hanging with the missing word provided on the next page. I liked how the next-to-last illustration shows the class's simple version of the day's events. This is a classroom filled with love, even when the teacher's day hasn't been the best one of his teaching career.
This is a comical book about how teachers can have off days too. Mr. Bungles day begins with him bumping his head as he was getting out of bed, he got soap in his eye, dripped jam on his tie, miss counted students, and when he sneezed the hamster got loose. Mr. Bungles and the students chased him over a chair, through the gym, around the track and the town. This would be a great book to read to the class at the beginning of the school year to let students know everyone can have a bad day, but it is about choosing the attitude that you decide to display.
I wanted to like it more. It had the potential to be an excellent storytime where the kids could yell out the answer to the rhyming riddle. Some of the rhyming would be too hard for little ones to guess, though. I'm disappointed because it looks really cute and has a cute little story with it, too. I can see how it would be a good bedtime story for a kiddo that likes to memorize a book and read it over and over and over again so he can guess the rhymes.
Stephanie Calmenson did a favor to all young children's educators! The book was wonderfully illustrated by Sachiko Yoshikawa. I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense that each page turn built because it was able to build the excitement in a child to guess what adventures the next page will bring. It is a fantastically structured story that lets young students know that teachers make mistakes at times as well, and everything will always end on a positive note.
I loved Stephaie Calmenson's Late for School! so I was delighted to discover this new book about the teacher. Have to love Mr. Bungle - he turns a tough day into a party day for his class! There is an underlying message that teachers too try really hard and still make mistakes, and that is a good message for kids to hear and realize.
This book is a fun interactive book that allows students to predict the next word and event that follows in the story. This book is important because it allows students to see that although teachers always try their very best and have the greatest intentions for their students they do make mistakes. Students should take away that teachers make mistakes and have their bad days too.
This adorable primary story follows a simple rhyming pattern and encourages read aloud fun as children can help to complete the passage on each page. Engaging colorful pictures make this one fun and add a bit of whimsy to the story. Perfect as a read aloud for preschool to kindergarten.
Still like the first book "Late for School" better, but this looks like another good one to use in storytime, letting the kids guess the rhyming word that comes next. Love the bright colored silly illustrations too!
i really liked this book. this book is about teacher who is having a bad day.
students need to understand that teachers can make mistakes also. teacher and the students go thru the troubles together and solve the problem at the end!
A fun and entertaining book! Mr. Bungles a teacher described as "very cool" goes through an "oopsy day," and the series of events get wilder while looking for the class hamster. The kids were engaged and observant of all of the illustrations during storytime. Great read!
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with reminding students that the teacher is a person too and sometimes there are bad days. This book allows students to laugh at the teacher in the book in a way that encourages relating to the teacher.
I borrowed this book from the library for my daughter. I enjoyed reading it too her and hearing her laughter as I read the story. I liked the story line. It teaches children how even teachers have bad days. Also, I like the rhymes and illustrations.
" He always, always, always tries to do his best at...but even the best teachers can hae an oopsy day. No matter how they try, sometimes things don't go their way"
Loved this part.. almost this passages are saying to me " I know I know..don't worry about it"
Very funny and cleverly done. I love how it rhymes and the last word is on the next page so kids can guess it and then it's in caps and has an exclamation mark because you know kids are going to scream the answer. Goes to show teachers have off days too.
Rhyming lines let students guess last word. I think finding a message in the story about learning from mistakes is a stretch. It's fun to read about the oopsy day, but it's just light-hearted fun.
Even Mr. Bungles the teacher sometimes has a day when, no matter how hard he tries, everything seems to go wrong--including allowing the class hamster, Nibbles, to escape.
My kids love this book and shout out every rhyme before it is revealed. Mr Bugnles is kind of silly, there is a gerbil, a kite that looks like a pig... not MY favorite, but definitely a kid-pleaser.
This was a cute story about a teacher who had a day when many thing sent wrong. Teaches a good lesson that everyone can have a bad day but it'll all work out in the end.
I feel like I have already read this book. I think kids will like it... with the way it leads you to guess what's on the next page to finish the rhyme.
This was a really fun book to read the illustrations were very funny and engaging. This also teaches a really good lesson to students that teachers are not perfect and that sometimes we are going to have bad days where things just don't work out for us. I know this concept can be hard sometimes for students to understand because they have painted this image of us in their heads. This book is talking about Mr. Bungles and his struggles from the time he wakes up till the end of the school day. This book is very engaging and I would definitely have my first graders read this.
This book was part of my school work and I had lots of fun reading this book every time at the start of a page I always guess what the rhyming word will be. This book is a amazing book you would enjoy it a lot I definitely recommend this book to you. 👌👍😃
