"This book follows closely to my favorite writer. Heck Robyn maybe my new favorite after a few more of these books. Started the second one soon."

"These are best described as short stories in serial mode. I get a very strong fairytale vibe... I was strongly reminded of a Grimms and Hans Christian Anderson..."

Review: Altiore: Full Series by Robyn Hartling
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Altiore is a beautifully imaginative and heartfelt fantasy series that reads like a love letter to classic fairy tales, wrapped in a fresh, young adult package. Across six bite-sized books, Robyn Hartling builds a vibrant world filled with fairies, elves, mages, and creatures both wondrous and dark. It’s ideal for readers who enjoy high fantasy with short, serial-style storytelling that echoes the magic of old legends.

One of the series' standout strengths is its tone. There's a nostalgic, almost storybook quality to the writing that makes it feel like a cross between Grimm’s fairy tales and a modern-day fantasy adventure. That said, Hartling adds a youthful flair that makes Altiore accessible and engaging for teen readers while still holding appeal for adults who grew up loving Narnia or The Chronicles of Prydain.

Each book in the series unfolds like a new chapter in an epic tapestry, with characters evolving, bonds forming, and the stakes rising steadily as the land of Altiore transitions from division to unity. The recurring theme of unlikely allies banding together, factions setting aside differences in the name of love and survival, is wholesome and empowering. While some stories are more character-driven and others more action-packed, they all contribute to a greater arc that’s ultimately about hope, healing, and belonging.

If you’re looking for gritty realism or Game-of-Thrones-style intrigue, this probably isn’t the series for you. But if you love fast-paced, magical tales with heart, a strong fairytale vibe, and a strong sense of moral clarity, Altiore delivers.

Fans of serial storytelling will especially appreciate the format: each installment feels like an episode, giving you just enough to satisfy while keeping you eager for the next. It’s a great series to binge, particularly for younger readers or anyone looking for a cozy escape into a magical realm.

Robyn Hartling may not be a household name yet, but if Altiore is anything to go by, she’s well on her way to becoming a new favorite for fans of clean, heartfelt YA fantasy.

It reads like a rough or frist draft, or like a movie script.
There is no emotion in this and all the characters sound the same, so there is no way to know who is speaking. The descriptions are non-existing. I do not even know their hair colors.
The worldbuilding is rudementary and i get the idea but there is nothing deeper to be found and that is disappointing.
This could have been nice, with a lot more work in plotting and editing. And I would not market it as YA but as a children's book. But again, only after several rounds of editing.
I finished the first story of the six and I doubt that the following will be any better in this way. So I am DNFing.

Author is a racist white woman who called a Black woman a man, got upset when people (including white people) called her out over it, and doubled down by calling another Black woman a 'hard R'

When called out on *that*, she tried to say she meant *another* slur (an ableist one, not the racist one).

Screenshots are forever, even if you dirty delete.

Author is a racist white woman who called a Black woman a man, got upset when people (including white people) called her out over it, and doubled down by calling another Black woman a 'hard R'. When called out for it she back peddled and then told everyone she meant the ableist word the BEGINS with an r.
