Rate this book
Cursed to live alone. Existing as cold, soulless vampire. His life is no longer his own.

Nathaniel, Duke of Lehr, has been waiting for someone to love, a woman to break the witch’s curse that holds him captive within the walls of his own home. For only unfettered, unconditional love will sever the ties binding him to a reality he abhors.

Abby’s been drawn to Castle Lehr for a long time. She wants an interview with the elusive owner, a chance for a big break in journalism. But the story isn’t one she can write about in the newspaper.

One moment, one connection, is all it takes for Nathaniel to realize his heart will be forever bound to Abby’s, but could she ever trust a vampire much less love one?

There are words in existance which would describe my experience with this novella, but I will keep them to myself. I did not permanantly damage my intellect so I am going to be generous, skip writing a review, and leave this little note to myself -- YOU WILL NOT READ ANY MORE OF THIS SERIES EVEN IF IT'S FREE.

Vampire Cursed goes straight to the plot and skips the foreplay. In the first installment of the Vampire Destined series the author hits the nail on the head. She grabs you from the beginning and leaves you wanting more. It's a fast paced story that I wish was longer. I loved the concept of Nathanial being cursed by a witch to become a Vampire and be forever bound to the castle until he finds true love. Enters Abby who is under the assumption that she is brought to the castle to do an interview. Then Nathanial drops the bomb that she is the one that he has searched 300 years for, she could be the one to break the curse. Abby being a modern woman isn't frightened by the knowledge that he is a Vampire but by the fact that he won't let her go home. Enter the witch that cursed him, and a battle to keep Abby safe.

I think that my favorite part was the fact that she was okay with him being a Vampire but not with the having to stay at the castle. That just goes to show how much supernatural creatures have become so intertwined with our culture. We would easy give up a drop of blood rather than our independence. I find that quite funny. As I said earlier I like the concept but I wish that it was a longer book. The author gives a few details of how everything came to be but I wish that there was more on how Nathanial knew Abby was the one. I have my fingers crossed that make an appearance in future books. This book had one sex scene but it was not overly graphic.

My overall thoughts were that I think that the author has a pretty good thing started with the books and I look forward to future ones. A recommended read.

My Thoughts and Review

I picked this book up today and I have to say it was a delight. Even though it was a short read I found myself smiling laughing and chuckling at some of the words and discussions that Nathaniel and Abby were having. These two made a awesome pair. This was a fun light read and as other reviewers are saying we had wished it was more. Perhaps we will see this duo again in another tale .Looking forward to checking out some of the other stories by Rachel in the future.

Abby Baker is a writer looking to do a story about Castle Lehr. She unexpectedly finds more than she bargains for when she arrives and find the Duke of Lehr is home.
Nathaniel, Duke of Lehr, is waiting to meet Abby for as long as he can remember. Now that she is in her home, will he ever let her leave?
Vampire Cursed is a quick read but packed full. Not your typical vampire story which made this a pleasant read. I really enjoyed it and actually liked the characters which is more than I can usually say about vampire stories. I will look for more of Rachel Carrington's books.

While this is not my normal book type, I thought I would give it a go. While it is a quick read it was nice. I loved that, for me, it had this childhood fairytale aspect except with this very different and adult twist to it. The characters and the storyline mesh well together and make it a very interesting read. Very worth your time to take a chance, even if it does not sound like something that you would normally read!

The author packed so much into this short story. It is so full of heart I really enjoyed it. The cursed vampire who needs someone to love him, the gutsy vibrant female who is going to help him and even a witch to boot. What more could you want.

This book completely swept me away! The gothic atmosphere of Castle Lehr was so vivid I could almost feel the cold stone walls, and Nathaniel’s tragic yet romantic plight tugged at my heart. The slow burn between him and Abby felt authentic and deeply emotional. It’s a perfect mix of mystery, romance, and supernatural tension.

Goes down as another off my 2016 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – a book with a castle in it. Short and sweet but over far too quickly when the story had only just gotten started. I would have liked the story to be developed more.

Abigail thinks her big break has come when she gets to write a piece about an old castle in England and its elusive owner. From the moment she draws near to the door she is filled with longing to go back and to go forward at the same time. Not sure which she really wants to do but when the door opens her choice is made for her. Once inside Castle Lehr she almost has a feeling of being home but soon pushes that aside. She wants to focus on her story and the Duke – even if she thinks it’s a bit funny that there is still a real Duke living there. The moment she sees him her laughter ends as she is drawn to his beauty, as much as the house and from the look in his eyes the feeling is mutual. When he tells her the real reason she’s there though will she stay or run?

Nathaniel has waited 300 years for Abigail. She’s the one woman who can break the curse that a witch cast on him all those years ago. Immortality wouldn’t seem so bad if he had someone to share it with, not that he would really want to curse Abigail to stay. He wants her and wastes no time in saying that its destiny that brought them together whether she wants to believe him or not. He knows her better than she knows herself. Well to a point anyway but when an 18th century man tries to tell a 21st century woman what to do you can imagine it won’t go over so well.

There is some chemistry between them that grows slowly when they get close. They are like magnets being drawn together but it seems the witch isn’t too happy with this development. It appears she wanted him all those years ago and being spiteful thought if she can’t have him no one will. Who would love a cursed vampire? Nathaniel’s hoping Abigail, if only for a short time.

This was a pretty good little story. I liked Abby and Nathaniel and the story was well written for as short as it was. This was the first book I've read by this author but I do already own book #2 in this series. I liked this enough that I'll read #2 and may try more of her work in the future.

Abby is a writer that has traveled overseas to Castle Lehr to write an article on it and it's owner. She's felt drawn to the Castle and has dreamed about it but once she gets there she finds she's very nervous. She meets Nathaniel right away and he is almost painfully blunt about her being his destiny and that the castle is her home. Abby kind of freaks about this but yet can't bring herself to leave even though she's unsure about Nathaniel and his plans for her. There's a pull to him but she tries to fight it...at first anyways. Abby tries to figure Nathaniel and figure out the draw she feels to him and along the way she finds out about the curse and what Nathaniel is. There's some drama at the end but things get worked out and Abby decides that she feels enough for Nathaniel to stay and see if it can turn in to love (and consequently break his curse) so I guess it's a HFN ending with a possibility of HEA. :D

Nice story that's short and sweet. I liked both the MCs. I'm planning to read book #2 in the series...I'm hoping I'll get to see Nathaniel and Abby in that one so I can find out how things work out for them... :D

* note - I listened to the audiobook of this and the narrator did a good job.

THOUGHTS

I'm the odd man out with my review but I didn't connect. The moment the story started, it had a certain excitement that grips you. A cursed vampire whose 300 hundred years old and a damsel in distress from said vampire. What I liked about Abby and Nathaniel, was their chemistry and the mystery surrounding Nathaniel. The concept was good and makes you feel giddy to know what Nathaniel intends to do with Abby.

What I didn't like, which supersedes the likes. Was the flow of the story.  After the third chapter the fire and the connection was not their anymore. Although this is a novella, the story felt unfinished. Abby constantly stated she wants to leave and then the next minute she was in bed. I understand the story is centered around her and the curse but it felt like something was missing.  The concept felt right but the flow of the story felt wrong. I found my interest dwindling after chapter four when the excitement wore off for me and what Abby was saying kept on being repeated.

Story: FAIR
Intimacy Level: SWEET
Enjoyment: FAIR

Vampire Cursed
Book one of the Vampires Destined Series by Rachel Carrington

I was privileged enough to score a ARC copy of Vampire Cursed by Rachel Carrington.   This is a short novella book one of the Vampires Destined Series.  Abby gets an assignment to interview the Duke of Lehr.  But what she finds out is she is destined to be there in order to help free Nathaniel Lehr from his curse.  This is a real page turner with the development of what Nathaniel's curse is and what it entails.  The books is entirely too short left me screaming NO I want more.  Just gave me a sip of a amazing beginning to a series.  I would recommend this book if you are tired of the same old vampire bite me stories.  Also if your life is really hectic this short to get taste of what is to come.  I want more you can bet I will be watching for more.  Will Abby follow the journey with Nathaniel we will just have to see.

This was a great vampire book and a great start to a series. It is a very short read but I was glad that I read it.

There is just something about Castle Lehr that calls to Abby. She has seen the outside but no one has ever seen the inside. She is a reporter and when she is invited in to see the inside and talk to the man himself she can't believe her luck.

Nathaniel, the Duke of Lehr knew if he waited long enough he would find the woman to break the curse. When he gets Abby and looks at her info he knows she is the right woman. Now if he can only get her to stay of her own free will.

Abby's really spunky and won't let Nathaniel get away with nothing. It isn't until she hears the witch that she realizes the pain that Nathaniel is going through that she starts to change her mind. This was a great story and I really liked the characters. It is also great that I have the other two books of this series and I can read them now.

Abigail comes to the Castle Lehr thinking she has only been invited to interview the owner who turns out to be the Duke of Lehr, named Nathaniel, and also a 300 year old vampire due to a curse placed on him by a witch. The only way out of the curse is to find true love and he insists Abigail is his destiny and scares her with his forwardness at first. This is the first paranormal romance I've read and really enjoyed the events that took place and liked the story very much except the ending, for me, could have been a little more informative. I also wish it could have been a little longer and I look forward to reading the others. For anyone looking for a quick read and a juicy story out of the ordinary, this one is for you.

This short book packs a bunch. The story start in a full run from the very beginning... Nathanial is curse by a witch, became a vampire and is trapped in the castle till he finds his true love....Enter, Abby, thinking she is going to the castle to conduct an interview... well you can guess the rest. Abby and Nathanial are both very likeable characters. I totally enjoyed this short story. My only complate would be that it was to short. Would have love to read more about these two. I hope we'll hear more about them in Book 2 Vampire Forgotten.

This is a novella that feels like it should have been longer. The characters were interesting, but the pace to rush through the development felt somewhat forced. I'd like to see a longer version of the story, where we see the duke's original life, his curse and why it happened, how he found his potential true love after all this time, what keeps the witch from coming back and I'd like to see a resolution to the story. Overall, I enjoyed reading it, but there is room for growth.

It goes straight into the plot skips everything. I was a bit confused by the ending I mean she feel in love pretty fast and what about the witch I mean that was way to easy. One sex scene which was a tease and I was done with it in a day. I am not sure if I want to continue with the series.

I'm not one to say that any type of writing is bad. I could not connect with this piece. The author left huge gaps in the story line. Then when she did give vital information it was rushed and not detailed. I'm very sorry to say I did not like this book.

Way too short to really get into. Had potential. Abrupt ending, as if there was more but it was cut out. Some humor.

Wow, this heroine is annoying (she became slightly more tolerable in the second half because she wasn't talking as much -_-). Overall, it was OKAY for a novella. Nothing spectacular.
