Description: Juliana Pratt is cursed. Her father's warned her many times she's destined to be a wanton just like her adulteress mother. It's why he's kept her in all-girls schools, hidden away from his elite society. However, when her father's arrested for murder, he needs Juliana to come into the spotlight to portray the doting daughter. Juliana agrees to the interviews and talk shows, but before she goes on the two-week tour of lies about her father, and with him behind bars and unable to stop her, she must first take care of her starving curse. And Juliana picks the perfect man to get the job done. She secures him to a bed, but fails terribly at finishing the task. Her thoroughly teased curse is left famished. Later, Juliana discovers that the man she'd chosen to fulfill her every fantasy is also the agent assigned to protect her for the next two weeks. Her curse becomes relentless and will stop at nothing until the delectable Agent T. Ryker has satisfied its hunger. Agent T. Ryker prides himself on his discipline-that is, until his new assignment, Juliana Pratt, puts that renowned discipline to the ultimate test. Once he discovers that Juliana is the woman who drugged and handcuffed him to the bed in his hotel room, he also finds out her true identity. Ryker agrees to satisfy Juliana's ravenous curse, but he has his own reasons for doing it, and it's not just to give Juliana's body what it craves... for there is something else Agent T. Ryker wants from Juliana Pratt... Reader Alert! When engaged in conversation, Juliana Pratt tends to draw from her vast textbook knowledge. However-beneath his touch-Juliana can't find the appropriate words to describe the wicked things Agent T. Ryker does to her body! To My Readers: What happens when something pure collides with something tainted? Agent T. Ryker-the spawn of a rapist- believes his blood is contaminated. Juliana Pratt for years has been hidden away from the malice of society. When these two lives collide, craving disregards the diversity of their worlds. Like wildfire, their fervent passion grows, taking over everything around them... About the Author: Writing, what other way is there to describe it- it's my conviction. After working in the human health field profession for nearly two decades, I'm aware of how deficient many people's daily lives are of true human connection. Through my writing I strives to reconnect readers with those all-too-rare feelings of unquenchable desire, heated passion and splendid euphoria.

Too gullible heroine, too manipulative Zero

I should have known this book was going to push boundaries as soon as we find Ryker waking up tied to the bed, after being drugged by Juliana. The reason for this OTT situation? Julianna needs to break her “curse” and decides to sleep with a stranger in order to finally give in to her “curse” which is just a person’s natural sexual urges.

After years of being told by her crazy Daddy Pritchard, that her mom was a whore and that if she isn’t careful, Juliana will become one too, she gets it into her head that in order to beat the curse, she needs to give in to it and have sex. Ryker was just the lucky guy that spiked her libido.

Of course, Ryker isn’t okay with this and completely freaks out when he finds out she’s a virgin. He has major hang ups about messing around with virgins and the whole scene was cringe worthy.

Fast forward a few days later, these two end up crossing paths again when Juliana finds herself being guarded by the same guy she drugged and kidnapped! Needless to say, Ryker doesn’t warm up to Juliana when he finds out she’s the same girl that violated him.

Aside from the almost comedically bad plot line that is the “curse”, Juliana’s quirky textbook jargon was just weird and not endearing or funny. It just felt off and eventually annoyed the crap out of me. Ryker as a hero also didn’t meet the mark. Call me a prude but when the Hero refers to his heroine as a b*tch, it’s off putting. When he keeps making assumptions about her and the B work keeps popping up, I’m not impressed.

The plot thickens when Ryker finds out Juliana is the daughter of the man awaiting trail for the murder of his aunt. There are murdered parents, missing parents and surprise baby daddy revelations that give off major soap opera vibes. Overall not bad but there was imbalance of characterizations for the MCs that made this hard to read, even after suspending disbelief.

I just kept asking myself why a 23 year old smarty pants like Juliana wouldn’t apply that huge logical brain into debunking the whole curse debacle. She wasn’t that sheltered! She went to an all girls school and is obviously well read. How she stayed so “innocent” that she didn’t understand the real meaning behind her supposed curse was too nuts to believe.

Even the chemistry between Ryker and Juliana was weird. I can only guess that the author was hoping for a love/hate trope here but it didn’t work for me because there weren’t any emotionally charged moments where their connection shined through. He either hated her for being a greedy, lying, opportunist or he was manipulating her with sex to butter her up for the trail. It was too calculating and one sided for me. Then everything happens at once and boom, it ends with him doing a big gesture for her after ditching her for a few weeks.

This was memorable for the wrong reasons. Author has potential but this mix didn’t work for me.

Satisfying the Curse by Kelly Gendron is a romantic suspense story that starts out by having the hero drugged and tied to a hotel bed to service the heroine's curse! The scene teases her limits, his libido and the reader's expectations, but all in surprising, and ultimately satisfying, ways.

About that bondage scene...Juliana Pratt believes that she is cursed. She's twenty-six, and has spent her entire over-educated life in environments where she keeps herself as far away from men as possible. Her father has her convinced that her mother was a wanton adulteress and that Juliana suffers the same curse. Juliana has never even let herself be tempted to give in.

But Daddy Dearest is facing murder charges, and Juliana is the only witness that can corroborate his alibi. So while he is in prison awaiting his trial, she is free. Well, sort of free. Daddy Dearest (AKA Warren Pritchard) is rich and influential. He's committed a LOT of dirty deeds, but always managed to buy his way out, until this time. During Juliana's limited bit of freedom, she is supposed to be doing the talk show circuit, playing up the dutiful daughter image and making sure that any jury is prejudiced in his favor before the trial starts. In return, he has promised to finally give Juliana some of her inheritance.

But this talk-show junket is Juliana's first experience of life outside of all-girls schools and educational institutions. She's finally experiencing real life, even if it is a real life punctuated by regular death threats and attempted kidnappings.

Somebody wants her dead, or at least beaten down. And Juliana knows it's her father. He wants to make sure she corroborates his alibi.

Juliana has a bodyguard. And that's where the real fun comes in. Her first bodyguard, Josie, introduces her to the fun of watching mixed martial arts. Watching the fighters wakes up Juliana's curse of wantonness. or that's what Juliana believes. Juliana asks her bodyguard, her best and only friend, to help her get one particular fighter at her mercy for one night, so she can lose her pesky virginity and satisfy her curse.

The plan works flawlessly. Except...once she's got the man tied up and practically begging, Juliana can't follow through. And her inexperience reveals the fact that she's a virgin, which leads to the next flaw, the fighter may have done a lot of ring bunnies in his time, but he doesn't play with virgins. Ever.

Then there's problem number three, and it's a doozy. Juliana's protection detail gets handed off the morning after the curse-removal disaster to a new bodyguard. And the fighter she tried to play bondage games with is her new babysitter. And her curse still wants him, really, really bad.

Too bad Agent T. Ryker still doesn't do virgins. No matter how much they beg. Or how much he wants to.

That her father is going on trial for murdering his aunt, the woman who raised him? That's just one more reason to guard his heart from the beautiful woman whose body he's supposed to be protecting.

Escape Rating B+: The opening scene started out pretty darn funny. The bondage thing was just crazy. And hot. But then things took twists into a little more serious territory.

Juliana (she goes by Ana) thinks she's cursed, because that's how Daddy brainwashed her. Ryker thinks he's tainted because of the circumstances of his birth. As a pair, they have a whole train-load of baggage to sort through, and they really have to work at it. Misunderstandings abound! Neither of them have ever trusted anyone, and it takes them a while to figure out it's even possible.

The level of sexual torment on both sides is also very hot!

I did spend a chunk of this book wanting to beat Daddy Dearest with a baseball bat. If he has a redeeming characteristic, I didn't see it. Unrelieved evil is fun to read every once in a while.

There was a very nice twist at the end that surprised the heck out of me. Excellent, excellent!

4.5 Satisfying Stars🌟

Satisfying the Curse has had a makeover...with a new cover🤩 I hadn’t yet read some of Kelly’s earliest works and was excited to learn that she was doing some rereleasing of these books❣️Ana is currently being threatened and to protect her, she has been assigned a bodyguard. She’s had the same one for a while and is due for a change in guard shortly, but before that happens she enlists her guard to help her out😜 Suffice to say, things go pear shaped and they discover the new bodyguard is the person her guard helped enlist😳

I’m not saying more than that as I don’t want to spoil anything but I enjoyed Ryker and Ana’s dynamics and chemistry. The storyline was also amazingly well done with twists and turns I never expected which I can honestly say kept me riveted to the pages😁 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review😍

This book has a bit of everything - suspense, romance, murder mystery. The characters had depth, were well developed and were relatable. The plot twists are completely unexpected and superbly done.

Juliana/Ana Pratt was brainwashed by her father to be pure, keep her virtue and not give into the curse. She was told her mother gave into the curse and left her as an infant to be with another man. She is under protection until she can testify in her father's murder trial.

Trent Ryker was raised by his Aunt Jamie from 5 years old. His mother had been assaulted as a teen and she was physically, emotionally and verbally abusive to him until his aunt got custody. He is an MMA fighter and an agent with Elitex hired to protect Ana and get her safely to the trial.

Ana decides the curse wants Ryker and she tried to get him to be intimate with her. While they are trying to seduce each other they are also falling in love. At the trial they both learn some horrifying facts about her father and it affects their relationship. They eventually get things worked out and get their HEA. Highly recommend!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, steam, secrets, pain, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
The Risqué Target (National Elite Security Agency #1)

This is Juliana and Ryker's story. Juliana has lived a little bit of a sheltered life thanks to her father and her curse. All girls school and hidden away from men. But now her father needs her, so she has to come out of hiding and help him. She has to do a bunch of interviews for about two weeks. But before that she needs to take care of the curse. So, Juliana picks a man and ties him to the bed to take care of the curse. But the curse is not over or even satisfied. When she meets the man, who is going to protect her it’s the same one she used for her curse. When he agrees to help her with the curse while still protecting her will that be a good idea? Will the curse end up consuming them both?

I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Ana is a quirky, captivating and always surprising character. Her life has been dictated by her father who kept her isolated and an emotional prisoner. She believes that she carries a sexual curse and if she gives in, she will be like her mother, who was a whore. When her father is arrested, she finally feels some freedom and wants to feed the curse. Ryker focuses his energy on helping others in his work for Elitex security. As a kid, his mother caused emotional trauma which has caused him to close off his heart. Losing his beloved aunt Janie has him seeking justice for her death. When his next assignment is Ana, he finds himself in uncharted territory as she keeps him on his toes. When Ana propositions him, well, he finds his will power tested. Will Ana break through his walls? I loved Ana’s honesty and unusual mannerisms. She is full of surprises just like this story. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, exciting twists would be revealed. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Satisfying the Curse by Kelly Gendron

Hit by a whammy, pow, what, why does this have to happen to me? “You have a “curse” on your head as a result of your mother. This inherited negative energy has been passed down to you and there is nothing you can do to alleviate it. When it rears its ugly head you will be so out of control, your behavior becomes so bizarre you will not recognize yourself ”, states a father to his only daughter.
Can you image living this negativity following you, wearing it on your back like a sign?

Ana now having made it to early adulthood without any issues with the “Curse” her father refers to every chance he gets. Ana feels she may have this nasty “Curse” creature under control. “Perhaps my father, the highly esteemed business man, billionaire lied about everything he told me to control me, thought Ana”.

Satisfying the Curse by a talented author Kelly Gendron is an intriguing novel chockfull of unexpected occurrences that hook you once you get use to Ms. Gendron's writing style and how she introduces the reader to the character known as Juliana.

The main characters: Ana, Agent T. Ryker, Daddy Pritchard, Josie along with a difficult to understand main character Juilana; have personalities you have dealt with as an adult. Juliana takes some getting use to since she is the alter-ego of Ana. Of course, each have conflicting objectives and goals to achieve. Once I caught on to the rhyme and the author's writing style as she incorporates Juliana and multiple personality aspect into the story I was hooked. After I got pass the first few chapters of the novel Satisfying the Curse it becomes so intriguing, with many twists and turns. Ms. Gendron creates wild roller coaster rides for the reader that make it impossible to disengage from Satisfying the Curse. I felt as if I was cursed by the book because of its magnetic power over me. The plot is well developed and the rising action, conflict and resolution are full of unexpected jaw-dropping events.

Agent T. Ryker is so ruggedly handsome, manly, strong and extraordinary on his job. I would love being in Ana's place around Agent Ryker.

Warren Pritchard a billionaire, Ana's father, who knows how to exploit others regardless of their stature in life.

Ana/ Juliana beautiful woman who strives to accomplish her life's mission. Ana is strong-willed although often a people pleaser while possessing phenomenal intellectual abilities. She is my kind of take no prisoners woman.
Make no mistake Ms. Gendron characters Ana and Ryker have the hottest magnetic chemistry I have read about in a while. The dialogue between the characters is realistic and the witty bander between Ana and Ryker is comical; I related to situations and I would use the same remarks.

Satisfying the Curse is now one of my favorite books because of the psychological element, sexiness, loaded with adventure and an unpredictability that makes for a fabulous page-turner.

You will enjoy Satisfying the Curse if you like using your critical thinking skills as you engage in reading a novel. I know I did and will look for more of Ms. Gendron's books now and in the future.
Excellent Job, Ms. Gendron!!

This was an interesting read because it had a little of everything from steamy moments, suspense, and plot twists that I did not see coming. I loved the big Broody alpha Hero, Ryker, who had such huge walls surrounding him and secrets that he wanted to keep from everyone. He was thrown for a loop when he was assigned to protect Ana because she was so beautiful and intelligent, she got under his skin and he wasn’t sure he liked it. Ana had been sheltered all her life by a horrible father that treated her as a possession instead of someone who should be loved. She had her quirks especially where she would talk like she was a walking encyclopedia and at times it made me cringe in embarrassment for her because it would happen at very inappropriate times. Overall a great fast paced suspenseful read with a beautiful strong-willed heroine who is a genius and a broody alpha hero determined to protect her at all costs while trying hard not to fall for her.

If you are like me, you like to predict what is going to happen next in a suspense romance. I can't think of a book that I have read in the past where I have been so wrong as this book. Not once. Not twice. I stopped counting after that. The only thing I was pretty sure on was I would get a Happily ever after.

But how??? Ryker has walls that C-4 can't penetrate. Ana has been sheltered and manipulated all her life. I wondered if she was going to survive the ordeal. How in the world would these to find love? How would they get past everything? How they could accept what the learn.

Grab Satisfying the Curse and understand that anything is possible. Grab Satisfying the Curse and discover the six degrees of separation within the pages. Grab Satisfying the Curse and discover what is satisfying.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Ana has a father who is a horrible man. She has suffered mental abuse and been hidden by him. She has been told she is cursed like her mother. She plans to do something about that. Ryker is who she wants to help her with that. He also happens to be an agent, not just an MMA fighter. He is the agent assigned to her for the next couple of weeks. These two are amazing together. She is soft to his hard and both are damaged in their own ways. The book has a few surprises, plenty of heat, and a unique young woman who captures his heart. I enjoyed their story

This book is a very interesting story. Daddy Prichard is accused of murder and now needs Julianna to shout his innocence and she is need of security. Enter Agent Ryker, who is an MMA fighter and had a rough life and has closed off his heart. Julianna tells him about the curse and he is happy to help. This was an interesting and unique story plot. I loved the characters and had empathy for Julianna and how she was raised, and the same for Ryker. They both were great characters. I loved this story.

Ana and Ryker's story starts out with some surprises and that theme remains throughout this romance. The heat level is off the charts and the story is filled with unique and interesting characters. So close to a 5 star read, however I feel the ending has so much buildup that it reads a little rushed for me.

This book had a little bit of everything. Passion, suspense & unexpected events. The innocent princess wants the bloody mystery guy to get rid of a curse her father instilled in her. Juliana wants what she can't have and Ryker hides from what he needs. The push and pull will make you stay to see who wins. Once you start this book you won't put it down just to find out what happens next.

I loved the first person point of view of the story. This is a deal breaker for me. I liked Ana and I agree with her about MMA fighters. :) Ryker aka The Kid. I really liked this hero and for me the hero makes or breaks the story. This was a very interesting story, that pulled me in immediately .

This is a fun story with some crime drama thrown in the mix. Quirky Ana made me smile a few times with her walking encyclopedia of knowledge, but she was off-set perfectly against Ryker's rugged brokenness.
