I've gone from a clueless foreigner in a fierce Fae world to the most hated and yet most coveted contender on the supernatural reality show, Fit for the Throne.
Everyone seems to have their own agenda, but they all end with me in chains; either at the bottom of the ocean or as a slave to the Crown. Nothing is what I first thought and the more I dig, the more deceit I discover.
Now, as I fight to survive the Games, I also have to fight for my people, earn my freedom, and protect my heart. The infamous Shadow Saint wants me dead almost as much as he wants me in his bed...
If you'd like to learn a bit more about me, feel free to send me a message and/or read on:
S. McPherson is a young British expat living in Dubai and working as a kindergarten teacher. When she is not at work immersed in a world of imagination and fantasy created by the children, she is immersed in her own worlds of imagination and fantasy at home, dreaming up tales and writing them down.
Fit for the Throne is S. McPhersonβs latest series full of hope, heart and heat!!
Better than the first book. It still took a frustratingly long time (89% through the book) for the MCs to have a conversation that could have resolved a lot of the issues. Though Maas also writes her books this way.
I like how cut and dry her relationship with Loch is. Better than the first book where we werenβt sure what was going on.
I enjoyed FMCs character development in this. Heart wrenching when characters sacrifice themselves for the greater good. It really raised the stakes and emphasized the outliers suffering.
βApparently, finding out I had magic and being taken to a supernatural world hadnβt been enough. Now, Iβd been flung into a world of espionage, chemical weapons and corrupt governments.β
Holyyyyyyy shit guys. This is a book that 100% DOES NOT suffer from second book syndrome. Yβknow where things get slow and weird because itβs just connecting the exciting start to the exciting finale? This ainβt that!!
Almost immediately weβre thrown right back into the action where we left off in book one - but things are more complicated, darker, people are dying in and out of the games, we donβt know who we can trust, and through it all thereβs still a deep, aching pull towards Exekiel even though he and Varialla want different things (or really the same result but in a really, really different way).
I struggled to pace myself because every single chapter dragged me right into the next and I had no fucking clue where I was going - but I enjoyed the hell out of it! π€£
Still lots of magical mate bond fuckery and very, very uncomfy SA (where because of the magical fuckery Varialla is sort of enjoying it π€’π€’π€’). Those scenes are so hard to read but you can see her getting stronger and fighting against Loch more and HOPEFULLY he meets the most horrific end in book three because heβs such a disgusting character.
I was completely floored by the ending!! A twist that changes everything and I cannot wait to see how it plays out in the final book!
βSomehow, in some way, Iβd betrayed everyone. Maybe I was the villain after all.β
I received an advanced copy for review - all opinions are my own.
This book has me on the edge! Action pact from start finish. Can someone please put a muzzle on Loch? His manipulation is perverse I don't care for the scenes with him and Varialla! But I know their intricale to telling the story...... maybe. Ezekiel will be back with a vengeance! Well Done Ms. McPherson!
This one really has a lot of self discovery, as well as focusing on the blooming romance. I couldnt help but be hooked to this fantastic book!
This Fantasy Romance is book 2 in the Fit ForThe Throne series. This book should not be read as a stand alone, and should be read after book 1. The Romance in this book is a slow burn, with a strengthening mate bond. The book is very spicy just like in book 1. The spicy scenes are very detailed, with lots naughty language. The book moves at a quick pace following Varialla, and Exekiel as they navigate the next step in the games together. The games will put them both in situations that will encourage their mate bond. All while Loch remains plotting, and using Varialla to accomplish his evil plans. Varialla learns more about herself in this book. She has to decide which path she wants to take moving forward, and what part will Exekiel take in it. Exekiel remains untrusting of Varialla, but is unable to resist the pull of his mate. He has to make the decision to take a leap of faith, or forever doom their relationship. The story takes place in the same fantasy realm as the previous book. The plot deepens adding new situations, and discoveries for the characters to work through.
I want he next book, I was moving so fast to get to what happen in the race and who is who because I was like wait No , wait what? Who did what? This book kept me on my feet. I was like ok now I am going to reread that book again because I miss who I thought was bad was good an those who I thought was good was bad! These books are so good, I got to wait next year to read the last book ! No not fair! McPherson ,please keep writing your books are so fun and good thank you for these fun books! As always happy readingππ
I loved this book! The world this author created is amazing, I canβt wait to read more! I love a good enemies to lovers romance and the smut is amazing. I love the character and relationship growth in this book. The FMC really comes together in this book, she felt a little empty in the first. There are a few editor mistakes but it doesnβt get in the way of the page turning twists and turns. I could not put this down! I canβt wait till the third book!
The storyline in this book was good but mannnnn the grammar made it tough to read at times. Also certain events didnβt flow through the plot and time of day how they should. Like, one event towards the end was during the day, but then all the sudden the moon light was shining and then the next thing you know itβs dawn all within a few pages. Doesnβt make sense haha but overall good storyline.
*contains spoilers* Maβamβ¦ Ms. McPhersonβ¦ why did you have me thinking my man was gone?!? I screamed loudly, mourning my Fae-Bae at 2 am, in a house full of sleeping kids. My husband has told me to go to bed, but instead Iβll be moving on to the third book, because Iβm going to need some revenge after this.. this book took me through the wringer. I will never be the same. That is it, that is all.
This had me GASPING! Oh my godddddd! The plot twist I was not expecting! It full rollercoaster of emotions! Everything about the book! I absolutely LOVED! This is my favorite Romantasy currently and Iβm devouring it so fast! The undeniable chemistry, they cannot stay away from each other just star crossed lovers but hot mamaaaa the SPICE itβs so good! And thereβs a lot of it! But it doesnβt take away from the nail biting, head spinning, seat holding plot!
Love love LOVE this series and I cannot wait for the final book. Excellent world building and lots of fun (if dark firey murder and betrayal is fun to you).
Dragons, God/desses, fae, sirens and politics all wrapped up in a reality T.V. show?!?!
Yes indeed.
Also, the heat between the two MCs is... well hotter than a dragons kiss.
I have read both books in this series and I am truly looking forward to reading the third book! If you're looking for an action packed page turner, steamy love scenes, and strong female main characters, then look no further....this series is what you're looking for. I highly recommend this series! Bravo Ms. McPherson!
Iβm not sure if Iβm allowed to use profanity in this review but this bit** got me hooked! There are dishes piles in both sinks. The dishwasher is full and waiting to be emptied and I havenβt had over 4 hours of sleep in three days. So anyways Iβm about to start the third installment πππ
I really love the story and how easy it is to read. The only reason why I donβt give it 5* is because of the cover π. The first one that I bought had a simple crown on it. This one, it changed my perception of the characters how I see the in my head you know. I almost DNF because of it.
But I finished it, loved it, loved the spice and the world building.
Read!!!!! The first book was good, but this one was great. The action, the emotion, the everything really drew me in and kept my attention. I cannot wait for the third and final installment.
A solid follow up to the first book in the series! There are some heart breaking things in this one, and fans of surprise twists will enjoy it. This is a steamy fantasy romance and if you like spice in your fantasies and are a fan of Zodiac Academy, I think you will enjoy this series.
This book had more of the hunger games vibes with more focus on the trials. I felt like it had a little more direction than the first, and I liked it! Will definitely be reading the third.
Action packed, edge of your seat but too much intercourse
I love a fantasy with a dark skinned female lead. And Fit for the throne 2 did not disappoint. There was action, mystery, treachery.
Yet, it all seemed to run a specific course. Surviving the trial, FMC fighting off the advances of the villain, friends die, a dozen rounds of pleasure between the leads. And honestly I was fed up. A few steamy chapters is ok, a more than average for this genre is ok. But it was EVERY one/two chapters. It was obsessive.
So, I had to take a long break. After a few months I've decided to try again. And the last 15 chapters went by so fast, that I fell in love with the book, the female lead not so much because she was self absorbed and self centered.
Other than that, book #2 is a terrific read. Not so much for binge reading as it quickly becomes exhausting.
