In a world where technology is killing our attention spans and we're incapable of focusing for more than a short period of time - whether it's being addicted to endlessly scrolling TikTok, getting distracted by the constant ping of emails, picking up your phone multiple times a minute to check Instagram, or trying to do too many tasks at once - learn how to sharpen your concentration and make 'focus' your new super-power.
Find Your Focus will look at how our attention spans work, why they are impacted, and provide exercises, tips and techniques to help improve your focus. Chapters could include things such as Mind Watching, Attention Seeking, Apply and Try, Memory Building and Distraction Busting, and will teach you how to notice when your focus is lacking and how to build healthy habits into everyday to bring your mind back to the present.
Cute little book (for those of us with short attention spans. . Haha- I see what they did there) that gives some tips on how to refocus in a world where screen and constant distractions are ruining our attention span. Is it a read and instantly feel more focused text? Not at all. But, I feel like it’s tips and exercises, can help. I feel like books on ‘finding focus’ can only do so much, and we have to do the rest and the individual, which makes these books feel more like motivation than anything. Overall, helpful and fun read. I do recommend.
Find your Focus is a great, quick read to get you in the mood of any type of self-improvement journey you are starting for yourself. Alison offers great advice for getting focused on your goals with fun, simple graphics and colorful quotes every now and then to keep you engaged and reinforce what is being taught in the book. I especially love that with every lesson, she offers a great exercise or example to let you apply it in your own life. The greatest lessons I learned from this was to be present during conversations, be intentional with taking things into memory, and being brave enough to apply myself to achieve different goals that I have set for myself. I will admit that one of the exercises that were a bit weird though, like writing down your worries on a small piece of paper and lighting it on fire with a candle. I highly recommend giving this book a try, there's a lot that you could get out of it!
