yes i'm putting my school textbook on Goodreads because I read every single word on all 500 pages. great book dumbs down every concept in an easy digestible way. brain torture of a topic unfortunately. i take my board in two weeks if i remember i will update whether or not i passed first try!

August 2, 2025idc i read this like 3 times it's going on my goodreads... the "read it front to back" people are lowkey kind of annoying, but I won't lie, it is necessary to read it at least once because it covers pretty much all the concepts you need to know for the spi. That said, it only gives a simplified overview of certain topics when the spi tests your actual understanding so I'd recommend supplementing with other sources

May 16, 2025I read this textbook cover to cover in one day. My most impressive work yet so it deserved to be on my Goodreads

Edelman does a pretty good job at presenting ultrasound physics in a simple way. He doesn't bother with tedious minutiae (too bad I can't say the same for my instructor). All in all, Edelman is giving you a bare bones understanding of physics so that you can pass the board exams. Good book. Horrible class.

Best study guide for the SPI Registry for sure!

Passed my SPI by using the 600+ questions in the back of the book and focusing on doppler by using other peoples “SPI prep” flash cards through quizlet. (You don’t need any other materials)

Dr. Edelman breaks down Ultrasound physics in a way that is easy to understand. I have had this book for 12 years now, I graduated with a Diagnostic Medical Sonography degree in 2009 and have pulled this book out many times over the years. If you enjoy this book, I highly recommend going to one of his ESP seminars, whether it be for CME's or studying for a board exam. I have gone to several different seminars in Oakbrook over the years and Cindy helped me pass the OB/Gyne board, but all the staff are great!

Read this book twice and passed my exam. It deserves to be added on GoodReads!

Yes I am including this because I read this front to back

This is a very simplistic overview of the information necessary to pass our physics boards. Information is not always explained clearly and does not offer any insight beyond a "need to know" basis. Not my favorite text.

If you can get a copy of the Edelman Physics Seminar book, do that. It's basically a condensed version of this book and only what you need to know for the registry. Only studied that seminar book and passed SPI on the first try.

Reading it to help me pass my boards. Otherwise it's like watching paint dry.

wouldn't read if I didn't have to.
