About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

The book is a absolute page turner. Finished reading it 2 days. Funny thing is I thought this book will teach me How to write a short stories but it is a collection of 10 short stories and the first cover short story is "Sirukathai ezhuthuvathu eppadi". Learnt that one must always read the author's note on the back side of the book before buying it but i dont regret because of the misleading title for the book is as i mentioned before is a absolute page turner.

சிறுகதை எப்படி எழுதுவது என்று வழிகாட்டும் நூல் என நினைத்து இந்நூலை வாங்கினேன். ஆனால் இந்தப்புத்தகம் 10 சிறுகதைகள் கொண்ட சிறுகதை தொகுப்பு.

இந்தப் பத்துக் கதைகளும் மனிதநேயம், ஆன்மிகம், புதிர், நகைச்சுவை என பத்து விதமான கதைக்களங்கள் கொண்டு எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளன. கால்கள், ரேணுகா, ஒரே இரவில் போன்ற கதைகள் மனதில் நிற்கின்றன.

“கால்கள்” என்கிற கடைசி சிறுகதையில் ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் ஆட்சியில் பணிபுரிந்த ஒரு மனிதநேயமற்ற ஒரு இந்திய காவலரின் இன்றைய நிலை என்ன? என்பது பற்றிய கதை, என்னை சற்று சிந்திக்க வைக்கிறது.

“ஒரே இரவில்” என்ற சிறுகதை, இப்புத்தகத்தில் அதிகப் பக்கங்கள் கொண்ட சில புதிர்கள் நிறைந்த ஒரு காவலரின் துப்பறியும் கதை.

“ரேணுகா” எனக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்த கதை, இது ஒரு இல்லதரசியை பற்றியது.

மற்றக்கதைகளும் நல்லக் கதைகளே, வாசகர்களின் வாழ்ககை அனுபவத்தைக் கொண்டு கதைகளில் பொருத்திக்கொள்ள முடியும்.

This book is not about, how to write short stories. it comprised of 10 different short stories. At last you may know the concept of the short story writing (like how to narrate the characters, how to end a story with a twist or with different message,naming the characters etc.)
This book will be good for those who started started the reading habit.
