In Heritage Avenged, Lyra McCauley receives an alarming letter from the coroner who evaluated her deceased aunt, originally thought to have died of cancer. The news causes Lyra to take leave from her job and travel from sunny Tampa to the frozen island community in northern Michigan. Questioning whether Dragonspeir magic was responsible for her aunt's death, she resolves to learn the truth and accepts the Imperial Dragon's appointment into the Alliance sorcery training.

Additionally, becoming proficient in magic craft is the only way she can bridge the gap between her mortal human world and her lover's. Cullen, a 220-year-old wizard, is dependent upon his Dragonspeir magic for immortality. He is her only family now; she cannot lose him.

Evil forces block her and try to steal her inherited scribal aura. Riding a stealth dragon, a cloaked rider pursues Lyra. Both the Alliance and Dark Realm alchemists lay tricks and traps. Her aura equals that of the first and most powerful Scribe, but will Lyra's novice training allow her to discover the truth? Will she be able to be with Cullen, or will the Dark Realm keep them apart?

I really loved this sequel to Seeking A Scribe. Moore has once again given us a fantasy world full of great characters and action. Our story focuses on Lyra again and her accepting her new role as the Scribe, but she is having some insecurity issues with her new found powers with magic. But while adjusting to her new job as a teacher, she receives a disturbing letter about her recently deceased Aunt Jean. Lyra believes she had succumbed to the cancer she was battling, but the letter says otherwise. She is on a mission to find what has really happened to her and the only way she can is to learn all she can about her magic through her mentor and lover, Cullen. But there are those that are willing to do anything to keep them apart and Lyra must learn all she can quickly before their bond is completely gone.

I loved all these characters. Lyra is really growing into her own. She has doubts about herself given the massive shoes she must fill. But she kept her own. Cullen was as delicious as ever. I love the relationship these two have together. They are quite the perfect match. I love that they were able to spend more time together in Dragonspeir. Cullen isn't able to spend too long a time in the human world, so I like that the majority of this book was placed in his world. I loved this because the world Moore has created is so fantastical. I especially loved the animals just as I did in the first book. Kenzo, one of Cullen's familiars, is back and more cool than ever. He helps Lyra a lot in this book even when she couldn't really help herself. Yasqu and Noba are also back. I adored them as much in this book as I did in the first one. Although they don't have as big a part as in Seeking A Scribe. Still, they brought a smile to my face. Cullen and Lyra have a lot obstacles to face in this book and they need all the help they can get. I won't spoil what takes place, but their love will be put to the test and Lyra will really be pushed to her limits.

I loved where Moore took this book. I had my suspicions before and I was right. The story was fun and action packed. Some characters I was curious about from Seeking A Scribe make a reappearance in a big way. For instance, Ravelin is in this. I liked him, but he set off some alarms. Let's just say you have no idea. We also have Eburscon who is quite neutral is the first book, but we know he is planning something. He plays quite the role in the predicament Lyra finds herself in. Man, it is so hard not to spoil. But I am doing my best. Moore is a great storyteller, so the build up in this book was just spot on for me.

I can't say more about this. Moore packs a lot in this time around. We get romance, magic, action, adventure, talking unicorns, talking dragons, talking trees, creepy trees, and so much more. Obviously this book was more than exciting. This was a well written book and I loved every minute of it. The characters and their interactions with each other was a fun experience. Just as fun as book one. The ending has me dying for the third book which I have also received from Moore herself. I cannot wait to start it, finally! Definitely recommended for Fantasy lovers.

This book was even better than the first! The story kept me captivated and at the edge of my seat the entire time. Lyra finds herself in a big predicament, having to not only learn important lessons about magic, but also has to succeed at her new quests. She struggles with trusting anyone, not knowing who is friend or enemy, some who seem to be friends are enemies others who appear violent turn out to be friend. She has to struggle through her quest all alone, with the sole purpose of saving her love Cullen's live. So the stakes are high, if she fails not only can she loose her own life but also the life of the one she holds most dear. These stakes along with constantly being attacked and pursued by the enemy both in the real world and in the magical world, make this a compelling book to read. The pace of the book was good throughout, although I did spot some grammatical failures here and there, but easy enough to skip over without deterring from the story. The story reached a climax towards the end, however the ending felt a bit flat for me, in that it did not feel as rewarding as I would have liked. The one problem that I have with this story is that the use of magic seems to come at little cost, and so Lyra seems to be able to easy learn things, which is explained by her heritage. This is counterintuitive to human experience where everything we learn comes through repetition, Lyra usually gets everything right within one or two tries, except power balls which is her own weakness. The other thing about the story that irked me a bit, was that the timing was off in that she traveled the entire length of the dark realm in a few hours. This makes the world they are in appear really small and insignificant. It ending would have been more rewarding, if Lyra had to truly suffer to getting and returning from her quest objective as opposed to zipping in and out. Regardless of these disappointments, I still enjoyed reading the book and finished it in three evenings.

As for family friendliness, this still rates a 1 out of 5 because of mature scenes. This fantasy romance novel is written for a mature audience and is definitely R rated, in that I would not allow anyone under the age of 18 to read it. This is the same comment for her previous novel, so at least the author has staid true to her audience.

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts contained within are my honest thoughts and feelings about the book.

Heritage Avenged: Enchanted Bookstore Legend Two is the second book in the Enchanted Bookstore series. Let me say upfront that I read this book without having read the first book of the series, so I don't think that I got the full impact of the story. In this story, Lyra McCauley, a writer and English professor, receives a letter from the doctor who performed the autopsy on her aunt. When she speaks to the doctor, he confirms that nothing medically explains her aunt's death, bolstering the suspicion that she was killed magically.

Now, for those who haven't read the first book...

Seeking a Scribe Enchanted Bookstore Legend One by Marsha A. Moore Lyra McCauley is a writer and loves fantasy novels, but until she opens a selection from bookstore owner Cullen Drake, she has no idea he’s a wizard character who lives a double life inside that volume…or the story’s magic will compel her from the edge of depression to adventure, danger, and love.

Lyra starts to learn how to use her magic, but due to an attack that causes her lover and bonded mate, Cullen Drake, serious injury, her lessons are accelerated so that she can help to heal his injuries.

Moore weaves a tale of love, magic and danger that draws you into the story. You want to keep reading and see what happens next for Lyra. I was honestly sad when the book ended and wanted more. I've decided that I need to go back and read the first one. You can pick up the second book and not be lost, but there are references back that don't make a lot of sense if you haven't read the first story.

The book was well written, stands alone on it's own and is a great example of fantasy and magic for those who enjoy magic in their stories.

Heritage Avenged is a fantasy novel complete with wizards, sorcery and mythical creatures. Lyra, along with her wizard lover, Cullen, work to solve the mystery of her aunt’s suspicious death.

Moore paints a colorful picture of a whole other world. I found the story’s setting to be intriguing and magical. I also enjoyed the relationship Lyra and Cullen shared. Cullen is unable to survive in the mortal world so Lyra is becoming a student of the Dragonspeir magic so that she can live in his world. Although I liked the main characters, I feel I would have been even more connected to them if I had seen the relationship from the very beginning.

I must admit that I am normally not a fan of this type of fantasy story. However, there is no doubt that Moore can weave an extremely imaginative tale. She really paid attention to detail and the novel was very well written. The beginning of the book moved a tad slow for me, but it steadily builds as it goes, and doesn’t lack in excitement. If you haven’t read the first book in the series, I suggest you pick it up before taking on this read. I did not have the opportunity to read the first one, and I felt like I was missing out on a lot.

Heritage Avenged is the second book in the Enchanted Bookstore Legends. I really believe that any fan of the fantasy genre will appreciate this series.

Right from the beginning this book has your mind pondering, Lyra receives a letter saying that the cause of death of her Aunt is suspicious. She thinks it could have been magic that killed her since nothing can be found medically. Lyra makes the hard decision to put her career on hold to pursue this mystery as well as take up some magic lessons. Her Bonded Mate Cullen Drake is the only way for Lyra to travel to the magical realm Dragonspier where she will be learning more about her inherited scribe abilities. Once the journey is made Lyra finds out not everyone is happy to see her, a cloaked rider is after her and trying to steal her Aura. Cullen fights to keep her safe but ends up seriously hurt, Lyra decides she needs to learn as much magic as possible so she can take out the cloaked rider, save Cullen and find her Aunt's killer.

I received this book for review purposes, I have not read the first book in this series called Seeking a Scribe. I would recommend reading this series in order just because there are some references in this book that happen in the first book and you'll know more about what's going on in book 2. If you love books about magic this series is for you!

I have to admit to being a sucker for Dragon books. I love dragons and magic. I love that the animals (dragons, unicorns, owl, etc) are fully realized individual entities in this book. A romance with adventure, a quest, a unicorn, dragons, and a happy ending is just what I needed today.
Marsha Moore has created a unique, fascinating world that I would love to visit… okay maybe after all the fighting is done, but visit nonetheless. The character, human and otherwise, have individual personality trait with their own idiosyncrasy. It was fun to see them interact and develop as the story progressed.
A fun read. I give this story 4 out of 5 clouds.

With Heritage Avenged, Ms. Marsha A. Moore continues to build on the strengths of her heroine, Lyra, set forth in the previous tale, Seeking a Scribe, while increasing the stakes for Lyra and Cullen. Her fantasy world continues to reveal itself little by little with many more enchanting inhabitants awaiting the visitor to Dragonspier from fire drakes and enchantresses to enchanting dryads, mysterious wizards, and sentient trees. Another great story. Part 2 of the Enchanted Bookstore trilogy cotinues Lyra's adventures in Dragonspier, where, as the Scribe, it is up to her to continue writing her Book of Dragonspier. In Part 2, she has to learn her sorcery abilities to help the Imperial Alliance hold back the Dark Realm. She also has to go on a great quest to save the love of her life, Cullen Drake. Every step she take brings her closer to the immortalilty she needs so she and Cullen can be together forever. It's a great adventure story with wizards, dragons and all sorts of magical creatures, all wrapped around a love story. looking forward to part 3, Lost Volumes

Marsha A. Moore paints a beautiful, rich world with her words. You may find yourself thinking about Dragonspeir as you day-dream at work. Likewise, you may find yourself falling for not only Lyra and Cullen but for some of the supporting characters as well, like Kenzo, the tiger owl, and Yord, a blue dragon. This is a great read you can really connect with...at least, I sure did!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading the 2nd in this excellent series. The magic was beautifully choreographed and easily weaves in and out of both Dragonspier and the real world. You'll find yourself wanting more at the end of each chapter. The chapters flow seamlessly together and create a fabulous entry into the next volume. Highly recommended!

I love anything written about secret libraries or fantastic bookshops and this particular series is specifically about a bookshop and it's owner, but not just any bookshop. This bookshop is magical and is also a portal into Dragonspeir and Cullen, the owner, is the imperial sorcerer of the alliance to which the magnificent golden dragon is the leader and guardian. Cullen and Lyra are in love however whilst Cullen enjoys immortality she is still merely a mortal and the time spent in each others world is limited. Lyra has to undertake three quests in order to gain her immortality and her right to stay with Cullen and in this book she goes on her second quest which is full of danger since she has to venture into Silva Nocens, the territory of the evil black dragon. Moreover she travels alone this time without Cullen's protection since his aura has been stolen and he now lies in stasis in the golden dragon's castle. Lyra is to kill the black dragon's heir and steal back Cullen's aura if he is to live once again otherwise all will be lost. This was such a thrilling book to read, the learning of magic and the help Lyra gets from the four guardians is awesome and the quest just left me breathless as the dangers surrounding Lyra and Kenzo were tremendous but her love served as her guiding light to help her go on without wavering. Such an enjoyable read, with so many beautiful mythical creatures turning this book into pure magical pleasure.

Truly an enchanting story! Lyra and Cullen have many challenges before they can be together. Lyra is also trying to find who killed her aunt. With quite a few trying to steal her aura Lyra takes on a very dangerous quest. Will she succeed and help the Alliance or will everything come crashing down on her? I loved this book and am looking forward to reading the next in the series.

Can a mortal woman and an immortal wizard really fall in love

This is the second book in the Enchanted Bookstore series and they should really be read in sequence. Once again this world of magic and dragons and talking immortal trees does not disappoint. This story is a little darker than the first book, but is filled with delightful interactions as Lyra learns the fundamentals she needs to save her fiancé from the dark forces who oppose them and their world.
