Katie has a secret wish—she wants to be a submissive. She dreams of being a man’s sex slave—forced, bound, gagged, taken and used for a man’s pleasure. But single, sedate, librarian Katie doesn’t run in those circles and has no idea how to make that happen, until she sees an ad on Craiglist. Her friend, Lori, tells her it’s too dangerous, and she’s right. Her first Dom, Patrick, is woefully inexperienced, but thankfully, Liam interrupts his little brother’s attempts. And that’s when Katie locks eyes with the most dangerous man she’ll ever meet. Liam is a true Dom, and he wants Katie, perhaps even more than she wants him.

This was one of those stories that I had no clue what to expect. I see the word Dom and I get a little worried. I tend to not like that word used in my BDSM. I worry about cookie cutter plots and BDSM clichés. However, this one gave me a great plot driven story, with erotica flare and light D/s. I am one of those people that enjoys the full spectrum of BDSM. Not just the bondage, not just the heavy spankings, or floggings. I like commanding men, that can make a woman obey with a single word. I like submission without ropes and chains. It makes the appeal of the punishment with direct defiance that much more blissful to read about.
I loved this story. Not just for the fact that I felt like my lifestyle was respected, but it was very well written, and the characters made me smile. Liam is one of those Masters you want to take you to their lair and work you over till you feel well used and sated. Katie is the type of woman most curious women are. I appreciate that it wasn’t a tie her up and flogger her story. I get enough of that. I am enjoying the few stories I have read where they ease the submissive into the lifestyle without scaring the bejesus out of her. I was eased in, and now I’m so submissive I’m pleasure slave level. I know that a submissive appreciates their Master more when handled with care.
This was a great read and I highly recommend it for those of you just dipping your feet into BDSM reading.
This was good, but it ended a little too abruptly for me. But that's just because I wanted more of Liam. I'm not in the lifestyle, but in this book, there was a distinction made between a top and a Dom. Katie initially met a top trying to play as a Dom, but didn't know it, and it went to hell very quickly. And she was "rescued" by a Dom. And they sort of exploded. Well, I guess they actually sizzled a bit first and THEN exploded, which was hot. I have to wonder, though, why it seems like most Doms are all super wealthy and hotter than Hades? :-)
So, so good. I absolutely LOVED Liam. Ooooh, I would have had no problem submitting to him! LOL
I so wish this had been longer. I would have love to see things play out more between Katie and Liam. I loved their chemistry. And I would have love to see her...learn.
I got this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review...

SUMMARY: Katie is a Liberian. She like rules, order, and having everything in its place. Everything was fine until one person asked her for a book on BDSM. She had to get one for herself. She learns everything from reading. that is when she answered an ad on Craigslist. is had to learn first hand what it was like to be a submissive. That was until it went totally wrong. A handsome man name Liam came and saved the day. Now she will do anything to see him again. she knows he is the one. but how far will she go to make him her Dom?
As usual with Selena this is a great story! It is short and designed that way. Of course you want more (because it's a Selena) but the story is great as it is. I loved Katie with her willingness to speak up and her little bit of spitfire. Liam was just wonderful - loved how he defined being a Dom. You know that commercial for McDonald's where everyone says it's the Egg McMuffin? Well in erotic romance and erotica you really have to say It's a Kitt! I have never been disappointed with her writing.
Too short - the book was moving along, good build up, hot encounters and two amazing scenes and then... it ended!!! I wanted more, but what was packed into what there was was really good This could be have been a cliche story, but both of our characters were three dimensional and their thoughts and feelings are expressed and explored. It is this part of the characters that makes me want more, and of course the hot, hot scenes!
Is part of the Master of Hearts box set. I think that this is how it feels to want something but not know how to go about acquiring it. How do you find someone to train you to be a sub? Katie is looking for that and found more. She's a likable character who happens to be in the right place a the right time, even if it wasn't an ideal situation. I like the short tale and look forward to more from this author.
Katie who wants a Dom but answers an ad to a Dom named Patrick but finds that she no longer wants to try with Patrick to her it didn't feel right .. then his brother named Liam and her life changes .. He trains her but not to her knowledge to find out how Liam trains her or how she longs for Liam and can think of nothing but of him well buy the book , read then review it and then read some more Power play by Selena Kitt
Ok so this was something I never expected to be so. I think Katie and Dom was far better than 50 shades of grey. Atleast it wasn't a dragging story for me. Sort and sweet and yes quit steamy too. But I believe it would be liked, more by women IMHO. Anyways anyone can catch up with this book, if they liked 50 shades of grey, and if they want something more refreshing then that one.
Katie wanted to explore the world of BDSM, feeling the urge within her to submit, but answering to an ad in Craigslist? Not the right way to go, and she soon learns this as well. The train wreck did put her in contact with a real Dom, and this one speaks to her body in every way. Quick read, smutty fluff and BDSM in a great combo.
Something about this story just struck the wrong chord for me. The author is talented, and so I know the feelings and interpretations I drew from this are most likely unique only to myself. I found the story pretentious and affected. Like Katie and Liam considered their way as 'The Way' regarding Dominant/submissive roles.
It is a really good short story about a librarian who is looking for the perfect dom. She does not know what it will take to get him but that is part of the adventure. This is a short story that really shows that sometimes book smarts and real world experience are two different things.
Just finished reading Katie & the Dom by Selena Kitt. It was a great story. I loved how Liam handled Katie's training. I would've really loved to see this as a full length novel and see how the relationship developed. However even as a short story I really enjoyed it :-)
